I'd definitely like to learn more about the proper FFB adjustments for the Logitech G29 in iRacing, so it feels as realistic as possible. Of course, within the limits of what's achievable with an entry-level wheel like this.

    This is the most brilliant comparison I have seen of GT7 with any other more serious Simulators....Most people would just concentrate on which game is doing things more realistically and then give the final verdict but you actually explained what exactly both games are doing differently and why both are still great for what they are trying to offer

      Honestly a better sim is ACC, than Iracing. Iracing is only successful due to the multiple classes. ACC is a way better sim.

      @SuellioAlmeida  Рік тому +67

      @@mrmidnight32 I think iRacing is better than ACC when it comes to transitioning to real life to drive most cars. ACC is a great sim if you're going to drive a GT3 car in real life with top-tech assists like TC and ABS, but if you're driving a car with no abs or shitty abs, iRacing will prepare you much better.

      @@mrmidnight32ACC does GT3 racing only, so it better do a better job of that than iRacing does. That doesn't make it a better sim. It makes it better for GT3 racing. That's not the same thing. Want to race GT3 cars against AI? Pick ACC. Want to race in 10s (more likely 100s) of different classes, 24x7, against real people, in graded, clean (well, as clean as open on-line racing gets) races, then iRacing is the only choice.
      The choice is what makes sim racing amazing.
      People determined to say one is better than all the others is what makes it toxic.

      @@RacingAnt Those races you mentioned cost extra money per car and track, not to mention a monthly fee. iRacing is objectively not worth it if you use a grading system. The collision model is ridiculous and AMS2 tier, not to mention that the sound is mediocre in all cars all around, and it all gets topped down by really, really, really, really shitty graphics that are PS3 era quality.
      This is why nobody likes iRacing except pro drivers like Verstappen or Norris, for whom 10k for all content may seem like nothing are using it for fun anyway. The only realistic car they have is the mercedes 13 and 12 because of the co-work with merc engineers. Everything else is pretty much amateur level like AC or AMS2 with mediocre FFB, physics and handling. For 10€ a month, I expect much more quality across the board, good collision phyiscs and good graphics. iRacing has none of those. It's just a really expensive version of rfactor2 or AMS2, but it actually looks far worse than AMS2 so it's not even above the lower tier of sims lol. This game has nothing else to offer but W13 and that's why nobody except hardcore sim-racers care about it. You can't make a good game with just one good car.
      For ACC, you get a premium experience with most cars and tracks, good collision phyics and by sim racing standards, good graphics (not even close to Rennsport or GT7 but still far above iRacing) hence why most people choose the cheaper, yet more premium option over the more expensive, but worse looking, playing, feeling, looking game. iRacing will become obsolete once Rennsport and AC2 become a thing, it's just not a viable business model.

    • @RacingAnt
      @RacingAnt Рік тому +7

      @@gameurai5701 ok, race formula ford in ACC. Case closed. I'm not bothered about which is best, nor debating it with you. The 10,000 people that log onto iRacing every day obviously think it's worth paying the money. I've said ACC is better for GT3 - but it's way worse for any open wheel car. The thing between these two, in my opinion, is that iRacing offers top notch physics, while not dominating in terms of content or graphics. And what GT offers, is a good enough physics model, while having a large amount and variety of cars, from commuters, crazy concept cars, GT4,3,2,1 cars and so on. As well as it's beautiful graphics and a comprehensive weather system, and other features (photo mode, livery editor, etc). This is why I am sticking to GT, not to mention it's a one-time purchase for a title. Then again, I'm just a casual driver (B driver rating in GT), and iRacing wouldn't be very suitable for me. AC with filters and mods and vr i dont think so

    • @phil_5430
      @phil_5430 Рік тому +3

      Its not that simple. GT7 vr really raised the bar by a lot when it comes to vr racing. One thing for sure is that GT7 is above everything else when it comes to details inside cars. Its unbelievable how much work the devs put into making these cars look EXACTLY like in real life. Every button on the center console, every little detail and even the material structure inside the car: you can literally feel and smell the surface of the alcantara leather in some expensive cars. The scaling is also on point: I was shocked when I switched from the lowered sports cars to a Ford Raptor and how high you actually sit in that car and how big the car is inside, feels like driving a truck.
      I play AC religiously too but only on PS5 due to the big screen on the tv. I have it on PC too and took a small look into the modding with custom shaders and some fancy modded cars. Sure, the driving physics are WAY above GT7, thats undeniable and while GT7 focuses more on the details and history of cars, AC makes up with the exact details on how the actual car works: thottle blipping for example.
      Like I said, I only took a small look into mods but wasnt very impressed from what I saw. Some cars are really well done by some modders who put an insane work into it but I mostly found myself driving modded cars which are "ok" as you can clearly see these were made as a hobby by someone other but not the actual devs. And thats the reason why I've never liked mods in any game with some exceptions (games like Skyrim and so on...).
      Also the more you go into graphic mods in AC the more demanding the game gets obviously.
      GT7 vr has to be tried to understand why it impresses people so much. I've showed the vr mode to friends and siblings and I love it when new people try it out because then I can see their reactions and its always hilarious to see how grown people suddenly get so happy with a videogame ;-)

A lot of people get hung up on what’s the best simulator, many say iracing is the best. Here is my problem, I’m a regular guy that doesn’t have access to racing cars, I just drive normal cars and I occasionally go to track days. For that reason GT7 is a better simulator for me as it has normal street cars, which you can’t find in iracing. Both are very good and affordable racing simulations. (Just a suggestion if you are looking for a „true“ simulation and an alternative for GT7)

    Great video, one thing though anyone who is searching for the real authentic racing driver experience in any racing game simply needs to do a few simple things. Get a real racing seat for your setup, wear a bunch of layers of clothing, crank up the heat, (to simulate in car temps) and when doing longer stints pee in your seat. Ive been doing this for years now and it really has elevated my experience and Im sure its made me a better driver. Its gotta be the pee right? It cant be the hours and hours of practice.

    The understeer is a deal breaker for me. Been there since GT3. I do not recall GT2 feeling like that. I honestly cannot enjoy the game because of this.
    But as always have been saying for years, what you gain and learn from all these games can be applied to real life or any other game because at the very minimum they all work on the same basis.
    Even on a controller, you learn what a line is, a turning point, a breaking point, what oversteer and understeer is, even if you do not have the proper application of it due to controller it has a lot of information there you can learn from and if even on a controller it is adding to you then I would say ALL these experiences definitely add to your skill overall. Simple idea is don't do on the road what you would do on the track. Either keep it on the track or in sim racing or simcade or whatever (once upon a time GT was simply considered a sim racer but anyway, its all the same just different levels imo). But what your every day driving adds is the understanding more of what is happening. Even aiming to drive safely for yourself and others around you, these concepts make you a better safe driver too. And perhaps some day may help in a situation that is forced on you as well.
    But yeah in terms of preferences, from the now simcade front FM was always more to my steering liking, but tbh I phased out of FM too for many years. Was absent from racing games for quite some time, and recently picked up AC. So much fun and so happy I did. And the steering is just how I want it. So seeing GT7 is STILL on the low end really turns me off. I couldn't stand it back in the day and still can't stand it now. Feels like I am forcing myself to drive in a certain way whereas even FM felt like I could adapt more realistically to a track. GT is much more as you say, focused on the line of a turn. This also teaches you a lot, but after you learn the line of a turn, there is so much more and that is the level I am at even for gaming for a long time now. So not having that level of control is a deal breaker to the point of not making the game playable, so I don't bother at all at that point. And seeing as we have so many other options now, well, I feel there is even less a reason to play GT7, much less the new FM.

Gt 7 is the best car collection game imo, gives you that vibe and most lobbies that do freeruns are all about the community showing off their cars. Loved this comparison! The snap oversteer in GT is real haha, and the only thing I don't like about that game. It makes reckless driving really hard and less rewarding. It's especially twitchy with the lightweight cars I love the most.
    The neutral steer issue got me thinking, too. I certainly did that regularly in a real car, and have a hell of a time pulling it off in GT, it just doesn't "click" for me. I mean I might be picking the wrong cars for that, or just lack the "resolution" in my thumbs (playing with the controller), idk. But this narrower margin of error does explain a lot!
    Overall though, I do love GT7 and the fact that it plays so wonderfully well without assists on a controller, you can just sit down every morning with a coffee, run a quick lap or two and get on with your day. That is hard to beat, and I feel that that's a strong selling point for people who are car enthusiasts, but not sim enthusiasts (let's be honest, sim racing got waay to serious for the most of us).

    The more important differentiator now, is what gear your using.
    It would be a fun test. Compare the realism of iRacing with a G27 and 2.2Nm of TQ vs a DD with 15Nm+.
    IMO using a high end DD with GT7 is more of a sim than someone using a G27/29 with Iracing/ACC.

      @@static7985 GT7 is in no shape or form a "simcade"... it's a simulator because the ONLY way to go faster is through proper driving technique, PERIOD.
      Sure, the FFB in games like ACC, Automobilista 2 or iRacing is more detailed but saying GT7 is not a racing simulation is absolutely stupid because without proper technique you'll be at the back of the grid every race.
      I'm currently playing Automobilista 2 against the AI and I have more fun than racing real life people on ACC... being a "competitive" sim-racer is the most overrated thing about sim-racing... most races against humans are absolute dogcrap and you end up being taken out by some overeager Verstappen-wannabe that ends your race only to get even more frustrated when LFM punishes you on top of it by destroying your safety rating because every crash is "everyone's fault"
      I am now racing against the AI on Automobilista 2 and it's the most fun I've had in months... every race is fun, the AI is really fast on the high difficulty settings but it's racing clean and forces you to have good driving habits... all in all, going away from the "competitive" LFM scene is the best choice I ever made in sim-racing... now I play AMS2 for track racing and EA WRC for a great rally experience on my sim rig and I'm actually HAPPY and not frustrated... GT7 with the G29 wheel in VR2 is fire, but it will spin you in the wrong direction in many circumstances that can def feel arcade-ish. IE: Sometimes I'll just approach a turn, bump the outside wall at 10 mph, and the car does a 180 and I'll lose 5-8 seconds😂. Sometimes as you come back on the track, you'll find you will go perpendicular right across the track to the opposite side of the same turn before you can steer normally again. There are times you can tell the game is attempting to keep you off balance (usually when your approaching 4th 3rd 2nd & 1st) So as you try to gain a position, you'll find the brakes don't work quit as good, or the accelerator will lag coming out of turns, or steering becomes marginally exaggerated.
    Interestingly, I have performed my best with the steering sensitivity turned ALL the way down to -2.
