The amount of quality and hard work that goes into making, editing and uploading these videos is second only to your skills at all the Soulsborne games, you are insane, I'm so happy I found your channel :)
I know this is a late comment (would also be useful if this could be pinned) but I'll explain how Flase Depth Chalice Dungeons work, why they exist, and what they do.
As we all know the Chalice Dungeons are some of Bloodborne's most important parts for build optimization (which is vital in PvP and higher NG Cycles), however they are also INFAMOUS for a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE GRIND. Some builds (such as Arcane or Bloodtinge) can take hours upon hours upon hours upon hours of farming to get access to top-tier blood gems. Additionally stuff such as Blood Rocks have a very low drop rate. The bigger issue however was they add a TON of filler content for every new build you make (which is vital if you want to build around a specific level for matchmaking purposes, such as BL120, the meta level for PvP in the current day and age). Over 20 new bosses to be precise, as you need to access the Fettid, Rotted, Cursed, and Sinister (FRCS) to hit the best gems.
In order to fix these issues several members of Bloodborne's community, most notably Trin and ZulietheWitch, hacked the game in order to create save-edited dungeons (AKA False Depth Chalice Dungeons). These Dungeons transform the base Pthumeru Root Chalice into ANY OTHER chalice in the game, even later Dungeons like the Defiled, Isz, Lower Loran, or Pthumeru Ihyll. While you still need to go through the main game to collect weapons, hunter tools, and outfits, and still need to go through some chalices to farm materials to create a FRC and Sinister Chalice, this dramatically shortened the grind by itself.
These Dungeons also have a modified drop table, most notably making it so that out of shape (OoS) gems and Cursed Gems are easier to acquire. They also introduce "Extra" levels of Curse to the Dungeons. For those who aren't aware, every % of HP taken away via Chalice Curses add a multiplier to base item and blood echo drop amounts. And using ANY Eye Rune in a Cursed Dungeon, even the Level 1 Eye Rune, will grant a VERY large boost to item discovery, to the point where using all 3 Eye Runes in a Extra-Curse False Depth Dungeon is pretty much pointless and will save at best a couple hours of grinding over the course of several days worth of gameplay (and by that I mean in-game hours, not real life hours)
DangitJM (AKA JM or Jim) has 2 videos which go over the False Depth Dungeons. The former is a general overview of Blood Gems, Runes, and the Chalice Dungeons (and includes links to a image-guide for the Standard Progression Guide, while the latter is a full guide to False Depth Dungeon Progression, including the known fastest way to make a FRC and Sinister Chalice. I'll also link his Beginner Build Guide and Build Making Guide videos, as they are great sources for anyone playing Bloodborne.

Additionally for those who are new to the Chalice Dungeons, here is a general guideline for when it's recommended to progress through them. I'm also obviously assuming you are leveling as you acquire Blood Echoes from enemies and bosses. (IMPORTANT NOTE: CHALICES ARE UNAFFECTED BY NG CYCLE. THEY ARE ALWAYS NG APART FROM DEPTH 4 AND 5 WHICH ARE NG+):
Depth 1 Chalice are scaled for early game content. Generally if you've beaten Bloodstarved Beast and Vicar Amelia you can handle them. Recommended Weapon Upgrade is +3.
Depth 2 are also pretty basic, but are slightly harder. Weapon Upgrade +3 if you are confident, +5 if you aren't.
Depth 3 is a HUGE difficulty spike vs previous. These will also grant you 18% Phys Attack Up gems, which are overkill for most NG Base-Game content (and arguably strong enough to carry you through the DLC). It's recommended to do these after defeating Rom the Vacuous Spider and entering the Blood Moon, and after acquiring a +6 weapon.
Depth 4 is another massive spike and contains the infamous Defiled Chalice, which is generally considered the hardest part of the entire game apart from the latter stages of the DLC. Depth 4 Chalices are scaled based on NG+1 Early to Mid Game, and as such should only be done with a +10 Weapon and after beating the Wet Nurse, Ebrietas, and the Orphan unless you are insane or a PvE God.
Depth 5 is another spike, but generally easier then the Defiled Chalice. These are scaled based of Endgame NG+1. Obviously +10 weapon.
Hope this all helps someone!
Well I need to keep the timestamps as the pinned comment, but thanks for the info and the links!
@@PressContinue Also one thing I just realized I forgot. In order to use Glyph Codes (and thus access any player-created Dungeon such as False Depth Dungeons) you need to have a Playstation Plus account. This is also required for doing any sort of PvP/co-op content in Bloodborne.
In fact it's pretty much impossible to farm "optimal" blood gems without PS-Plus, as the only method you have for farming Chalice Gems is to create a random dungeon with the correct rites and root chalice and hope it's one that can drop the gems you want, or Winter Lanterns (which are heavily sub-par vs Chalice Gems, as you show in this video quite well).
@@Agenta-df3gb are you kidding me? I have never had PS plus and all my characters get top tier gems after like 4-6 dungeons offline. It's not really that much of a hassle as people make it out to be lmao
@@MegaBlair007 did you get 27% gems
@@diabolicarrrot6920 i cant remember the % but it was high af it surprised me lmao so i guess, and honestly i didn't even feel the time passing (i was listening to music). Dungeon farming is fun fite me
That Watchdog of the Old Lords fight in the Defiled Chalice Dungeon always gets the heart racing
A lot of the bosses do imo especially in the dlc! Obviously I’ve gotten a lot better the more I play but I still have those moments in souls games where after I finally beat a boss I can feel my heart literally is racing!
Really nice to see how production improves with every new video
Thanks, I think so too :) I mean just compare this to my original bl4 guide. I sound so dull and lifeless back in my old videos.
The glyph where you farm the radial poorman gems has a Beast Possessed Soul at the top of the stairs which will attack the ghosts that drop the gems. This is very useful especially when facing off against 2 of the ghosts at the same time. You can bait them up to the beast and they'll kill each other. Usually the ghosts will win the fight so I usually try to hit one of the ghosts while they're fighting so I can drag it away and finish it off while the beast kills the other one.
Also, the beast drops triangle cursed poorman gems so you can kill it yourself for an extra drop, or you can bait the labyrinth sage in the room at the bottom of the stairs to kill it for you.
Using this method I got all 3 gems I needed (12/27 Phys up near death and stamina curse) from a single chalice, in about an hour of farming.
Aaah nice one! Very good tip
Man, I’m always blown away by your challenges. Well done.
How can you have so much content, quality, entertainment and passion with like no subs really... its ridiculous. Please keep up the work anyway, your videos bring so much joy and really help out even if I personally don’t do such hard challenges :D you’re the best!
Well at least I can say that my sub count has almost tripled in the last 3 months as I had 1853 subs at the start of this year, so that's quite a increase already :)
i love your content, i dont always go along with these challenges but theyre always fun to watch
the king is back with another banger!
I know this is super late to the dicussion, but you do actually want to hit the amygdala's legs to build up beasthood more while you don't have anything else to do, it doesn't make the fight much shorter but even 3-4 fewer rotations is still shorter.
Oh I like that. Smart
Agreed. I ended up hitting the tail mainly and for some reason Amy just stood there and let me. No attacks or anything, at least for maybe 10 or so seconds
@@herrzyklonan even better tactic when you realize that the end of her jumping attack will her head exposed to you. As long as you don't move from where she jumps...
@@megaultradamn Even faster, switch the weapon to it's extended form you can reach the groin for more normal damage, so combined with the BBP you're basically continuing to damage him without worry of taking a hit at all, final phase is really really easy.
This video along with your original guide was more than helpful aiding me to not only finish NG on BL4, but to get all the trophies. The last few bosses before the Queen in the Chalices were definitely the hardest part for me. Too bad this video wasn't up yet when I was down there, but it came out just in time for the DLC.
Thanks for the amazing work you have put into these guides for this ridiculous challenge. I'll look forward to seeing what craziness you come up with next! All the best
Giving you a like for figuring all this stuff out, testing it, and editing it all together
I’m slowly working my way to NG+6. Today I defeated shadows on NG+3 and it felt like my greatest achievement in Bloodborne so far. This guide has been invaluable. Thank you so much for all you hard work, bro!
Ok after watching the whole thing, this might be the best and most informative Soulsborne video I've ever seen.. I learned a lot of new stuff and can't wait to apply it to my own gameplay. Thanks for these amazing videos and maybe it's time for me to No-Hit soon...
Awesome :D go for it!
I hope to one day reach your level of insanity bro. Until then I can at least enjoy the videos lol
Dude, just thanks so much. I'm doing my bl4 run after only playing this game for 3 months or so because of guides like this. You are my fave before ymfah & Distortion2, solely because of your smart commentary that is so damn funny. You make the impossible seem easy enough that after my bl4 I'm gonna attempt any% no-hit run and all the info is just so great at providing multiple strats for these challenge runs.
Glad to help and best of luck to you :)
An absolutely astounding guide my friend, it was uploaded literally seconds after I finished watching your older BL4 guide, must have been fate.
Your guides have opened up so many more play styles and builds for me, thanks!
Great guide. I’m having a lot of fun with this, as with the other challenges of yours that I’ve done. Thanks so much for all the hard work.
On Pthumerian Descendant, just wanted to leave one more tip here for anyone struggling with second phase like I did: if you can get the backstab in before he splits his boomerang he’ll jump away and try to split it again. It’s often not an infinite loop because he likes to jump up against a wall, but you can usually get two or three before the phase starts for real.
Got me back in the hunt now... its been so long since I've played and its bringing back memories. On NG4 and I've realized if I do anything, its the chalices. Killed the queen and I'm almost done with all trophies thankfully. Might be my first platinum trophy achievement
Perhaps the real platinum trophies were the ones we made along the way :-)
This is one of the most informative videos of blood borne that I had ever seen.
excellent work here just keep on feeding the algorithm your channel is bound to blow up
Absolute mad lad. Excellent commentary with top of the top skill gameplay. Your channel deserves more attention!
Thanks bro :)
Damn, man! Your videos just get better and better
Never ever have been so impressed with a challenge since the no dream run which was also done by you. GGs ma'man.
Hey, love your content, been watching for a while now and came back to this as I've been going through my own BL4 playthrough (unfortunately no online so have been struggling along with lesser powered gems, but still managing) A couple of little additions to a couple bosses that are at the least, reasonable and safe enough to do consistently without much fear of failing whilst being more aggressive and speeding up a couple of the longer fights.
First one is the Watchdog fight. The head sweeps are very easy to exploit for the limbs, but they also all have openings on the head itself for an R1 if you want to make earlier progress towards a head break to stagger the entire final phase out. By moving carefully in and out of the range of his head sweeps, each one can be attacked without any risk. Early phase he only attacks the 2 directions once each then after 25% it's 3 and only in the final phase is it that all 4 can occur. The windows are all late enough in the attacks that walking in you will always have time to back out safely and won't ever be in range to risk taking any potential follow ups. So strat becomes, hit the head till you're 1 hit from breaking it, then focus up each limb to within 1 hit, by this point his health will be just above the 3rd phase threshold so you can hit the head with an R1 for the break, then a couple L1 to bring up BBM before moving to the next break for another stagger. rinse repeat all limbs and final phase is skipped entirely.
Second is Amygdala. A couple windows for extra damage and potential limb breaks. The first phase vomit drop from the head, you can follow the left arm with a run and as the vomit drops, attack the arm twice and back out. Only first phase as the vomit area is too wide beyond that. The second is an improvement on the final phase, by switching to transformed state, the R1 swings hit the groin area consistently for their normal damage, which can maintain BBP meter and basically speed that phase way way up. Final extra window is when it does it's "TA DA!" attack where it swipe all it's limbs outwards at once, if you move to mid range you can bait a left arms sweep in, which if you back out of the first and move back in after the second, with a transformed saw you can hit the arms twice and the head once safely giving you a lot of extra damage between head openings over all. and helping to speed up the fight.
Also the Celestial Em in the chalice dungeon does indeed do the other projectile just very very infrequently and it's not really any trouble either way.
Great guide overall and has helped immensely with my playthrough to make do with the crappy gem setups I have been able to obtain.
Yo, phase 2 of orphan of kos has always been unbelievable challenging for me. His movement is so erratic, and his attack relentless, I never knew when my openings were. But after watching this video, you made him look like a fool, can't wait to try it out on my next play through.
A masterpiece. Great stuff as always 🙂
Woooo finally out, I love it so much!
The channel is growing with every video posted. I bet you ll reach 10.000 way faster than you expected.
Yes my estimate is that I'll reach 10k in August. So that's way sooner than the end of the year, which I initially had as my goal. Guess my end of the year goal should now be 15k :D
Recently discovered your videos and channel, love the bloodborne stuff especially as it's my favourite game.
I know this may be a bit late, but using Rapid Poison on the Undead Giant in Lower Pthumeru is also a good strategy. It requires a little farming at Mergo's, but he has super low RP resistance and it's not hard to build up, and does very decent damage
My god, and I thought I was crazy...
Absolutely sick stuff. Maybe I'll even try a BL4 run myself soon :) keep em coming!
Sick as always, dude.
My friend, you are criminally undersubscribed-to on youtube. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s very high quality and you deserve every view that you get. :)

Your videos are just amazing!
you one crazy dude love it keep it UP!
impressive work! It's a lot of content I have to finish this video tmr lol
You, sir, are one awesome/crazy fellow. Loved every second of this. DAMN!!!
Thanks :) Glad you enjoyed it!
It wasn't BL4, but my strategy for the Fire Dog was to have him do his bite attack (all are fine, just watch out for combos) step back to avoid, then step forward to hit his head with transformed weapon. Avoid next attack by stepping back, step forward etc. Pretty safe as dodging them that way is easier than rolling forwards and going for his legs I found. When his head armour is gone this will do a lot of damage. You can also hit him after the bark attack in a similar way
Rewatching it again. It really sucks I can't leave more than one like.
Well I can only like your comment one time as well, so we're even I guess :p
You’re so good love the videos
Great video, thank you :)
seeing some boss being stunlocked for the entire fight is very satisfying, also the ludwig fight was crazy
You've beaten all bosses hitless. Massive respect.
Well technically I did get hit by the Moonpresence's AEO attack that reduces your lifebar to 1 HP.
@@PressContinue I dunno what you're talking about 👀
I have never dived into the chalice dungeons but yeah the first run without the DLC feels lengthy but not as much as other FS games and now i feel intrigued to dive into to see a little bit more of the eldritch like models and levels in the game
Goddamnit! I missed you doing this. Ive been doing 'minimum level for wep requirements' runs with every wep. It was fun for awhile but now I've beaten the game so many times I'm bored with it. I did my chalice dungeons run and got disgusting poorman and fools gems and then decided I didn't feel like doing ng+ at that moment.
Awesome video, ill definitely watch it again in a few months when I've taken a break from BB!
Watching it now too though. So glad you made this one.
realy great video dude
I may be very late to the party here but i'm currently trying to get my BL4 character to NG max and this was very helpful, especially thanks for explaining how to actually get the poormans gems, that will be very useful
You deserve a million subscribers.
You gave me the will to platinum this game, for that i thank u
You are very welcome :)
I'm not doing a bl4 but thanks for the help getting through the chalices and getting poorman's gems for my own run
You're welcome :)
lol got stuck at lower loran darkbeast again, jumped onto my first bl4, sold everything and started ng+ as if it's ng: Now i kinda want you to make a video on that cos bl4 ng+ Guac with a +2 sawcleaver is hard xD
great vid man
This channel is criminally underrated I think UA-cam just hates the Dutch
I am gonna enjoy this :))
The undead giant in lower Pthumeru has attacks in both phases that can oneshot on 40 vitality if they hit you during instability frames. It's a roadblock during a normal run, let alone bl4
I love your BB content
Because I always thought that beast blood, papers, shaman bone blades and chalice gems were to powerful I never did challenge runs with them so getting to ng+6 was an absolute nightmare being stuck at 300 ar. So it’s honestly sort of depressing watching this especially with shadows on the final ng+ where I didn’t skip them taking 30 hours what may sound like a long time but to just have an attempt at second phase it could take up to 8 minutes where then I had to deal with all 3 for over 3 minutes but regardless very good guide infact honestly your best by quite a margin imo. A lot of your fromsoft guides usually have much more inaccuracies but you seem to know this game much better than the rest. Looking especially at your dancer fight like seriously I don’t think I have seen a single person do that fight any other way on ng+7 sl1 except you and there is a good reason for that. If you want to know the strat literally everybody use I will link a video in the reply’s. Hopefully that didn’t come across as rude.
I highly recommend if your interested in his other videos. These are the only guides I can find on truly mastering the bosses in the series. Even if he has only done a few.
Oh dude , I started a BL4 run a looong time ago, but I'm stuck on the Gherman fight :( , your video has a lot of interesting tactics , I'm going to try again , I hope to be able to finally beat him xD
I hope so too. He's a tough boss though, so it's to be expected that'll take practice. Good luck!
The skill and knowledge required to do these runs are fucking insane. Good shit
I really like your channel sir
Thanks :)
What the hell I love this channel

Lekker gewerkt!
The 100 beast rune also has the top tier Fading Lake in the prelamp straight line chest
Fun fact: the golden helmet has more bolt resistance than henryk's cap
Well I'll be... that's indeed correct. Not that you would really notice it, but it does apparently have 10 more bolt resistance
After following those vids and beating the game+ dlc in bl4 once and ludwig taking over 493 attempts to beat, you really want to tell me I haven't suffered enough? *cries*
Well... why are we still here? Just to suffer!
Finally! This will be a good 2.5 Hours.
Well, you fought a ton of monsters today, bro, but you're the real BEAST. This vid is well thought out, comprehensive, and helpful. It's a shame that your sub numbers aren't bigger. I really appreciate your attention to detail and meticulous explanations. As a new Bloodborne player (I'm super late to the party, I know), all of your vids give me a bunch of great advice, cool ideas to challenge myself with, and guidance in case I'm struggling. Thanks, again.
Quick question, if I may...I'm developing an Arcane/Str.Skl. build (current stats are 30, 20, 25, 25, 10, 50) but I've yet to finish the main game and I have very few gems that are worth a crap. I have Ludwig's Holy Blade and the Augur--that's my main setup. What sorts of gems should I be looking for (and where do I look?) to capitalize on the Arcane part of my build best? Any guidance you can provide would be super appreciated. Thanks for your time and keep up the awesome content! :)
Oh that's a tough question. By definition the best gems are in the lowest chalice dungeons. So FRC root ihyll, FRC root ISZ and FRC lower loran. Unfortunately for ludwig's holy blade, if you want to capitalize on arcane damage you can pretty much only go pure arcane damage. Otherwise you won't get benefit from scaling or you would need a very precise setup. I'd think that physical gems are better for that weapon especially because you can then still stack a buff on it. If you want good physical gems without going through the chalice dungeons, then you can farm the wintern lanterns near orphan of kos or if you're still in the main game, the one's in the nightmare of mensis. For the chalice dungeons, simply search youtube for high physical gems glyphs. There are several farming spots
@@PressContinue I really appreciate your response. Thank you. I will definitely look at farming the lanterns, though, to be honest, those f@#$'n things give me the creeps. It seems like getting solid physical gems for the blade and then using the augur, gloves, and a call beyond as arcane sidearms might be the best combo for my character. Right on, bro. Thank you!
@@moodybastard170 Yeah... farming wintern lanterns is a kind of a pain because of the frenzy. Have some sedatives equiped when farming them.
@@PressContinue You can also learn how to parry/visceral them with good timing so the frenzy meter fills while you're still in the i-frames. Took less than an hour of practice and once I got the right frenzy resistance and timing I was able to walk through there very consistently taking no damage from frenzy buildup.

1. it only reliably 100% works every time once he is at about 60-70% health.
2. he never gets baited twice in a row, no matter the time window in between baits. You can override this mechanic by dealing any damage to him
Aah so that's the variable. That's very helpful
Also when the celestial emissery phase 3 holded his hands together I think he buffed his alien buddies because the have blue eyes and I think this have an effect on their damage and hp maybe not health
Sounds plausible
How I learned to defeat bosses on most of them you can hear a the sound before the attack due to how they edited it you can tell what attack is coming since you hear it just before it happens
nice vid but would've been nice if u showed when gehrman in his final phase does this 10ft jump attack
That's intense, too intense for me that's for sure. I'm having enough trouble on New Game +, at level 200 lol.
I’ve been really thinking of dropping my beast cutter build to do this. I’ve already beaten the game on bl4 and I genuinely want to push the NG+s. For the runes like the stamina and beast runes, there’s already glyphs out where you jus need to beat the first two levels of the very first dungeon to have access to them. The Loran camera beast is completely optional (bragging rights or you just like getting pounded) but yea, after this vid I’m gonna start up that playthrough with a whole new char. It’s gonna be a long journey...
Yeah you can access pretty much anything very soon by using false depth dungeons. I didn't know much about those and I wanted to include all those chalice boss fights anyway. Actually I think that the eye rune dungeon was in fact a false depth dungeons. I wasn't even aware of that.
Good luck with your run, and yes if you are starting from NG that is definitely going to be a long journey. Good luck!
1:03:37 you only need one poison knife... found this out few days ago.
Let the good blood guide you in your mad conquest for godhood
Unfortunately, in this game godhood means becoming a slug...
well, more like a cosmic and magical slug, but still a slug XD
So essentially, drive yourself further into insanity until nothing matters anymore.
Good job! I am at ng++ (bl4). In my opinion Laurence is the worst, if you don't use cheese tactic against him.
Why are you so good at the game?
Any tips for BL4 FRC Loran Darkbeast, which cannot stagger infinitely? This is one of the toughest experiences in my souls history
Er... my tip would be to not fight him? That boss is a nightmare as you can't see anything 90% of the fight. Now, if you stay on the inside of this right hindleg, he will tend to turn around with you so that you can get safe hits in. So that can help... but other than that, it's just a complete disaster. Baiting jumpattacks and AEO explosions can help out a bit too. And pointing the camera down like I did with Paarl can be beneficial as well. But all in all you will not have a fun time with him.
In orphan boss fight in phase 2 you can r2 l1 wait r2 l1 and so on
Let's goooo
the celestial emissary in the chalice dungeon dose have the second magic attack too.
Oh really? Never saw that happen
@@PressContinue and he can shoot through the pillars in the room with both magic attacks..
"He drags his shrimp on the ground."
...... Press.... that's not a shrimp, it's the Placenta. That's why he can swing it around like a lasso, it's got the umbilical cord still attached to it.
Now you make me worry about what I actually ate at that all you can eay shrimp buffet...
02:20
*sigh*
Here's your like.
:)
If anyone wants to cheese Abhorrent Beast you only need one poison dagger.
Yeah, apparently. I legitimately thought it took 2, but you can actually see in the footage that the first knife already gets the poison going.
Absolutely the maddest dutchman.
