Incredibly underrated guitarist. Also always liked his Ibanez "Voyager" signature guitar.
Levi out here doing Gods work. Putting up flawless transcriptions of the best guitarist in the world daily.
Reb is awesome. His rhythm playing is so underrated. Some of his riffs I find to be tougher than his leads.
Awesome seeing you here!
When I was thrash metal-crazy teen I shocked my guitar teacher at the time by asking him to work through some Winger stuff with me. He recalled how back in the 80’s he and his buddies (all big time thrash guys) used to see Winger music videos on Headbanger’s Ball and say “they’re posers, but that guy can shred” (obviously referring to Reb lol). Winger were actually a super cool band though - easily one of the most complex of the hair/glam scene if you pay attention. I listen to those original three albums often.
Exceptional!
Totally underrated guitar slinger. Fantastic rhythm playing, harmonically rich, in the pocket time, excellent tone, great solo phrasings that speak to the listener. An unknown super hero.
he's not unknow
Indeed. I had not heard of this guy before and knew a few of these kind of groups back then
@@breadyegg Very unknown.......................................... Played in Dokken, Winger, Whitesnake.......................totally unkown................................Has his own signature Guitars (like the one in the Video) by Ibanez and Suhr.............................. but sure nobody knows him 🤣
@@Worlds_Worst_Guitarist LOL point taken and well made 💯 I guess he fell through the gaps for me and that maybe I didn't actually listen to that much stuff back then!
Was a in Alice Coopers band and a load of sessions including the Bee Gees and Chaka. Week rounded guitar player
The thing I've always loved about Reb Beach is his approach to tapping. He uses it less for arpeggios and more as like an extension of his left hand legato almost like he has an extra finger on the fretting hand. You will notice in this transcription that most of the tapped notes are only a fret or two higher than the left hand notes. I find this approach to be very intuitive and accessible and it's a simple way to increase your speed because you can do similar legato runs as you would do without tapping but squeezing in the extra tapping finger to sneak a few notes allowing you to often go from 16th notes to 16th triplets or from 16th triplets to 32nd notes. Yes, he does do arpeggios. You can see that here. But the tapping in the scale runs is really just a useful way of utilizing the technique without just doing arpeggios all the time.
Nzinn73 I recall an interview in Guitar World, I believe it was the issue with Reb, Nuno Bettencourt and Ritchie Kotzen, circa 1989, where Reb said something to the effect he used tapping to kind of replace not using his pinky, or something very similar. Personally, I don't get why people wouldn't use your pinky at least some of the time, it's an extra couple of frets to use. But the guy is an awesome player regardless and clearly doesn't need my advice.
Reb Beach is underrated! insanely cool....really love this 80's? shredder.👍
Agreed
Reb is a phenomenal player one of the best from the 80's.
Reb Beach one of my top 10 favorite guitarists!! One of the most beautiful tapping techniques in history and plays furiously and with too much feeling!
Grooving SO hard I love it! Nice to hear a guitar song in D minor in standard tuning and not in drop D these days.
Reb is one of the few guitarist to come out of the hair metal scene who was actually phenomenal. Like Vito Bratta, they were excellent guitarists whether they tapped or not. They didn't use tapping as a gimmick. They used it because it fit the song
Steve Lynch from Autograph as well
Good call, you never really hear about Vito Bratta. Always loved his style
Nzinn73 Love me some White Lion. Hair metal was great back in the day!
Brother, There Were A LOT OF GUITARISTS TO COME OUT OF THE 80's THAT WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, AND SOME OF THE GREATEST PLAYER'S EVER🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸!
@@ScottD-44 I 2nd that as well!
this is how guitar is meant to be played, just my opinion (rhythm, cool techniques, style, sounds exuberant)
He never got enough credit for his rhythm imo. What a pro at 17 with Winger and went to Berkley right? Always loved his style.
This track made it onto Reb's 2020 solo album, "A View from the Inside", which is a fantastic album that blew me away on first listen.
I wanted one of those guitars SO bad when I was a kid. He’s a fantastic player.
I had one! Base model in red, though
Gary and Rick from Exodus played them back in the day as well. Killer guitars.
Almost bought one 10 years ago on eBay should’ve done it …
Me too
My old guitar teacher shared on his facebook this many years ago and I've been a fan since!
I used to watch this video on UA-cam back in 04’ when I was 15
Always replaying it and showing it to my dad. So melodic and nasty.
Rebs tapping technique is second to none. Don’t think anyone will ever be able to replicate that waterfall sound it has on the ears .. so so smooth
This is an amazing display of technique serving the song! A great player, and an outstanding transcription!
One of the best!!! Totally underrated.....
Reb Beach is a monster guitar player
Differs for me from the late 80's/early 90's videos in that it's not just lead, it's great rhythm playing and a great groove. This one must have taken time to transcribe.
Reb Beach is a legend 🎸 I have always loved this song!
Thank you! Reb is awesome, unique and overlooked...
🌎✌🌱🎶
Absolutely underrated for sure! Reb should be acknowledged as one of the best rock/fusion players out there.
Probably one of my favorite riffs!
Well that’s this weekend sorted!
Thanks for this one 👍👏🙏
Reb is most often lauded for his soloing techniques, and while I don't disagree, the cleanliness and fluidity of his rhythm work is among the very best in the rock guitar industry.
DUUUUDEEEE im so happy you made this vid !! one of my fav tunes from my fav guitar player!
Reb was, is, and will always be my guitar hero
This track along with Black Magic are my favorite Reb Beach tracks.
Loved that tune since I first heard it as a kid. I had Cutting Loose on VHS.
Incredible artist!!!!!
Man this solo was SO COOL to me when i first picked up the guitar. Definitely going to learn this now. Thank you so much for transcribing it!
the best thing I took from hearing this tune years ago was that clean open cross string arpeggio part its super slick ! Of course his solos are killer too.
Finally!!! I had my own version of transcription that I did and played this over a decade ago!
Thanks Levi!
Had to grab my guitar to play along with the bit startig at 1:35. Great stuff, not heard anything from him before. I mean I've probably heard it but didn't know it was him.
Another great vid Levi 👍
The riff at 1:34 is one of my favourite riffs ever written!
There's an interview in which Reb says something like "I wish I could pick all those notes, but, since I can't, I just tap them". He's the real tapping master!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for transcribing this! Reb is an awesome player and I've always loved this piece.
I bought Reb's solo album (Fusion Demos) back in the day, and he signed it too :)
Excellent guitar player!! I first heard him on a Winger album, and his technique, feel and sound was amazing...
I saw a secondhand Ibanez signature, in natural finish, some time ago, but it was quite expensive and unfortunately not completely original anymore - so I didn't go for it... But it's still such a great looking instrument!
Winger has a new album coming out and they just dropped a new track. I totally recommend checking out it all comes back around for Rebs solos especially his second one. Great mix of style and taste and tone. Very mature sounding without tossing out the stuff we love from him
Wow! Reb is one of my all time favorites. Thanks Levi!
Quick sidenote, on the main riff with that descending lick, he's actually raising the whammy bar, not dipping it. Aside from that, AWESOME WORK
Thanks for the tab!! I love this solo!!!💯
I still have my guitar world with Reb, nuno and Richie in the cover and amazing they all 3 are back baby!!
Reb is a fantastic player, love his solo work and if you get over the bias, his work with Winger is awesome, their live shows were/are pretty killer.
Winger is brilliant and then some. The hits aren't even half the story! People are missing out.
Reb beach might the most underrated shredder ever. in the late 80s hair metal became a joke, but reb still managed to show everybody why he is a guitar god.Levi,I adore your videos , why aren’t you playing guitar?
Because y’all don’t want to see me play, you want me to transcribe
The guitar looks so stable with that strap position. I’m defo going to try it
The best tapper ever, with Vai a close second.
No, I'm not talking about tapping with 8 fingers or being the one to popularise tapping - I'm talking about players whose tapping sound like a chapter in a solo, so melodious...e.g, Vai's outro on 'Answers' in the 1995 G3.
Beautiful player, very happy to hear this.
That open string lick is magnificent, always loved Reb, the later albums with Winger have some stunning playing on em. Great transcription!!
He is also one of the rare guitar players that hardly ever uses his pinky finger on his fretting hand.
Reb is great!
Such an amazing player. Chops and melody for days,
One of my fave players… still.
Unfairly slated in some quarters.
Reb is a beast!!!…🤙😎🤘…This and Black Magic!!!…
I already knew he was a genius (and listened to a ton of Winger in recent years), but let's just call him my favorite guitarist now.
Woohoo! Amazing playing and awesome transcription :) .
I would love to collect some of these dvds and vhs . I think they are on UA-cam . I really love the John Petrucci Rock Discipline videos too! :)
Reb has always been awesome! Thank you Levi, for all of these transcriptions! 😃
I really wish I'd gotten my hands on a Voyager like ten years ago before the price of guitars skyrocketed. They're one of the coolest Ibanez designs.
Great great great work. Thanks!!!!!!
The first time I saw that video clip was from the Guitar Suck compilación UA-cam videos. Such a groovy heavy song
Thx for great transcriptions and choices! Btw, Winger recently released a new song!
Best tapping technique ever
Good job dude...always loved this along with Black Magic
golden content . Thank you so much . I explore more amazing guitarists
Love him❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Reb is the man
Anazing as always Levi - this guys tone is awesome ASF
Great phrasing from him too, I hate to say it and a little embarrassed, but had never actually heard of this guy - so cheers for introducing me to a new player
Mr. Clay tabbing another all-time great from my UA-cam watch history. Much appreciated.
Edit: My wife said "That sounds like Winger!"
Time for another kid, I guess.
As long as she’s not only seventeen!
@@LeviClay Not since we got together 15 years ago! I turned 18 while she was still 17, so that was our unofficial song.
Congrats on 77k!
At 3:40 bar 70, on the tapping ascending 3nps lick, it looks like he is plucking the higher string with the right-hand ring finger, then hammer, then tapping with right-hand middle-finger. Kind of crazy
Sweet riff. I'm learning that one to relive the 80s! Maybe a George Lynch/DeMartini chaser. Wonder if I can get that bass/drums backing track anywhere.
And how about that new Nuno solo?
that was so rad
Awesome!!!!!
hahah wow i was litterally watcing this the other day, reb beach is great
Thank you so much. I hope you get to do black magic, that would be awesome
Excellent whammy face at the end
I think many of us are waiting for your transcription of the solo from Extreme's new song, "Rise."
Still use my Voyager to this day.
Also REB Never uses his left hand pinky!
I'm pretty new to this channel. Loving it so far! Have you ever analysed any Michael Lee Firkins? What a player ...
one of those riffs sounded like it was off Rust in Peace.
that guitar is sweet too
Hey Levi, these are great and I know this is an older video but can you please include the chord symbols above each bar from next time? That would be so helpful. Thanks.
No. I’ve been helpful enough 😁
@@LeviClay Haha .. oh c'mon.
For the most part I don’t like the extra space it takes on screen. I did them for the petrucci one I posted, and have done them several times, but the chords always feel like they’re too high up in guitar pro
@@LeviClay Aesthetics aside, if it's not too much work (with the level of skill that you have, it shouldn't be much) I am sure nobody would object as to it's usefulness.
Reb looks like AJ Styles' evil twin in that thumbnail.
I had a red base model Voyager. Sold it to fund an ESP Lynch Skulls N snakes, which I still have after 25 years.
Tasty!
Hi Levi, are all of these new daily transcription available on your Patreon?
Yeeeaaa🤘
Late stage Hair metal action.
Miles away from what I can do on guitar
How about black magic😊😊😊
Hi Levi, do you transcribe full time for work? or other music related things too?
I could be transcribing full time for work, I’ve passed most of my work on to students so I have time to do all the other things I like to do for work - but transcriptions are 50% of that maybe?
What technique he is using in bar 5?
When Stewart Stevenson showed up on Beavis and Butthead with his Winger t-shirt. Reb became irrelevant.
I;m going to be annoying again and request something from Shane Gibson (RIP)
Wow, that's a name I haven't seen in awhile. I remember he was making a name for himself during the Myspace era. Great player.
you have any recommendations? I've never heard him
@@DaveDurango look up Ducksinapond or Doosh for guitar magazine... he also played with Korn for a while
Killer guitarist. Winger get a bad rap, but Kip is an excellent singer and songwriter that definitely elevated the band beyond the typical hair metal dreck. Reb's Masquerade album isn't very good, but his Fusion Demos release is great, especially if you want to hear a different style from him.
The Winger albums are super rich from a compositional standpoint. Maybe too sophisticated for the hair metal crowd.
Winger was a very great band
they have some great albums
I'm gonna cut loose
Am i the only 1 who thinks this is not too hard
