Wsup B. I cosign 100% on Rome being the best technical rapper in GxFR. I like Conway and Benny better due to their subject matter and speed diversification. You're right on Rome having one speed but man he plays that position well.
The Coke Olympics needs to happen. My entry would be Supreme Cilentele Ghostface.
Gem Drop is such a dope call back to Mobb Deep's Drop a Gem On Em.
Lastly, Big Ghost really impressed me on the boards with this one.
What up Brodie! Yep def feel you on that - con, Benny, and Gunn as well all seem like they got a better feel of how to put together a comprehensive album. Right now roam is kinda coasting off talent but I seen glimpses of him showing versatility on Kiss The Ring.
Owww that’s a tough entry!! Him and Raekwon in the coke Olympics would be Ali and Frazier lol! I think I’d take Boldy James as the darkhorse isn’t he competition haha.
Bruh that flip on Gem Drop was so smooth - in my initial reaction I didn’t really process how he had that slight change in the beat after Rome spit a couple bars. I love when rap samples and references other rap songs.
Salute bro!!
This tape is CRAZY 🔥🔥🔥
Big ole facts!! 🔥
timing is crazy I just finally got to this earlier. rome cannot miss
I think he's too good of a rapper to miss! Also, it seems to me like extremely talented rappers tend to struggle with beat selection but Rome got a great ear for beats..and he's had that even before coming to Griselda!
Gem Drop mobb deep sample is so hard
Drop A Gem On’em
FAAAACTS! And I love the way big ghost flipped it where he like dropped it an octave! I love when rap samples rap.
THE BEST REVIEWER IN THE GAME, Rome always delivers…all I can say is thank you again
My guy!!! Yezzir dude came wit it - def lived up to how it looked on paper. Really appreciate the love Brodie! Salute! 💪🏾
Definitely a sick project. At this point I'm comfortable saying Rome is the best lyricist in Griselda at the moment. Granted, timing has a huge factor in that seeing as Rome just got put on so he's super hungry. Just seems like Conway and friends are just chillin in most of his features. Dope video big dawg! keep em coming!
Facts!! I think con, Benny, and Gunn have a more versatility and have a better grasps of putting together complete full length projects but as far as pure rapping - Rome got it. Well…I will throw in - im skeptical about if Mach and Griselda still on good terms but if he’s in it - I think lyrically he’s best rapper period right now.
Preciate you tapping in bro! Hope we getting another vid from you with the Che noir and big ghost joint 🔥🔥🔥
Naaa stove god
@Kam Stove over Rome? Not even debatable. We can talk about Stove God when he OFFICIALLY drops another album. He aint even drop a Griselda debut and we putting him as the best one on Griselda?
Imo he raps better. I hear what you are saying, though. I've just been more impressed by stove gods more. I'd say Flee Lord but I'm not really sure his situation
@Kam Flee is independent, he got his Lord Mobb thing going for him. He was just touring with them to learn the game, dont think he was ever officially Griselda.
I listened to this album all day! Rome got the crown 👑 in Griselda right now. Razor Edge with bars. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro, its scary cus I think Rome is getting better 🔥 I went back and listened to Death and the Magician and Noise Candy and bar for bar, he was just on a whole different level on this project even though the rapping was elite on those. Same thing goes with Kiss the Ring. I still say Mach the best in Griselda lyrically but Rome giving him a run for his money. Rome def had the better albums out of all the stuff that has dropped after pray for Haiti
@@BSideRapReviews Death and The Magician is my favorite Rome Project. But you might be right on this he might have become even sharper with the bars than even that. That HUNGER is there! He just got put on to major big time and he’s not letting go. Amazing
nah i been saying Rome is lyrically over everyone in griselda right now g. hes crazy fire this tape was fire def gonna keep it in the playlist
Faaaaacts! Well I still think Mach and Griselda have a shaky relationship but I’d personally rank them in this order. Tape is fire - I think it’s a good chance it’ll be the best release from a Griselda artist this year.
Mach
Rome
Benny
Conway
Stove God
Gunn
Armani
Gunn is my fav though
@@BSideRapReviews that's quite the statement. You not optimistic about that upcoming Benny and Hit-Boy album, "Everybody Cant Go" or "Michelle Records" project by WSG?
Thanks for the review. I love this album
Preciate the support!! 🙏🏾
love the review. an example of aliteration would be in the second verse of ps n qs, "puttin pleanty paper in my pockets is the policy"
keep up the great work man great taste
Yeah facts the vowel sound is technically assonance I’ve just heard other folks lump them together like how we call similes metaphors lol. Preciate the love bro!!
Great Review as always. This was good album. Rome Streetz continues to show with this album that he is one of the best lyricists in the game. Also Big Ghost did a good job creating a grimy atmosphere with his production. The one draw back I have with this album is that the entire album seems to go at one gear through the entire album. Kiss The Ring did a great job had having songs such as Long Story Short, Armed & Dangerous, and Serving to bring different elements to the album. Overall this still a good album.
Rome reminds me alot of Big L, which a good thing cause Big L is one of my favourite rappers of the 90s.
Preciate that bro!! Yeah man I think Rome sounds good on a pretty wide range of beats but I just love how he sounds over those dark sinister beats. It's also part of why I love Death and the Magician so much.
You're spot on bro! I think this album is more consistent than KTR but I appreciate that there was a wide range of both production and concepts like how you pointed out. I think it also led to KTR having higher highs. I will say I think this is a notch above KTR though because of how consistent and concise it is.
Yooo that's a great comparison! The grittiness, higher pitched voice, the punching...never thought of that comparison before but I like it a lot
Thanks for the content :) Obvious "hommage" to Mobb Deep's Drop a Gem on ’em on Gem Drop (legendary sample, the "once agaaaaaain" at the beginning, and of course the name of the track).
Bro I love when rap samples other rap. I didn’t really peep it in real time but I liked how big Ghost pitched the sample down once the drums came in 🔥🔥
Preciate the support brotha! 💪🏾
I hadn’t considered your point that the last three verses on the album weren’t by Rome, but I thought Chyna Streetz had a sick feature (song?). Only other time I’ve heard her is on a track on a Razors Edge where her and Rome are going back and forth and she’s like the voice of God.
Definitely digging this album more than Kiss the Ring.
P.S. Big Ben is in London homie haha.
peep the ep chyna streetz dropped last year!
So after the fact, I peeped on Big Ghost's band camp that the Chyna Streetz joint was a bonus track. That actually makes it a little more okay to me. I think she's cool - the beat carried her just a tad but she's not bad at all.
I'm right there with you. I think the highs on kiss the ring might be slightly higher with Reversible and Long Story Short being 2 of his best tracks, but this joint was way more consistent and concise.
Lmaoooo ay my high school geography teacher probably punching air 😂😂
Album is 🔥. I love that harp on Royal Flush. Great bars...glad you covered the Ken Ryu spoken word ending...comedy gold! "Aint no feminists in coke rap" 😅😅😅
Yeah I think Royal Flush might be my favorite beat on the whole project. It aint even a complicated beat its just FIRE 🔥
Bruh both them skits were hilariously ignorant 😂. And if there were feminist, they woulda already packed me up for my Keisha Plum and Armani Ceasar takes lmaoo
love your channel brotha
Bro thank you so much for supporting it! I appreciate the love ✊🏾
The title alone is a bar..."Rome" Wasn't Built In A Day.... brilliant, Big Ghost did his thing as always.... solid work and def my personal 2023 AOTY nominee...haven't been a Rome fan for long, but 2021's Coup de Grace project with Ransom sold me 100%!! Solid reaction/review my brother....keep up the good work! Waiting for your Che Noir/Big Ghost reaction next, another solid project!!!!!
Hahah you ain’t lying! Excellent album title. I think I got this joint a little behind the Skyzoo album from earlier this year - insane concept album. You prep that joint yet?
Yeah I started listening to Rome same year with his joint with muggs. He had a crazy year thag year. That big ghost and Che noir joint should be up tomorrow! Salute brotha!
Best reviewer. period. I've seen em all. Keep doing ya thang. (PS Mach just dropped !)
Yooo I appreciate you fr my guy!! Ay you already know I had to check that new Mach out! Just dropped my reaction to it 🔥
Not sure if you do requests but I would really love if you reacted to anything from Isaiah Rashad bc all his albums slap or capital steez amerikkkan koruption!! Dope listen but loved this reaction ! 💪🔥
Man I haven't done any requests, but the goal is to start incorporating classics and older albums...most likely gonna start doing some live streams so I can cover more stuff. First time anyone brought up either. Sun's Tirade stays on repeat for me - that would be a dope one. Steez would be fire too - I'm not really familiar with his solo work
Rome easily the best 👑
I actually got Mach as best in Griselda (even though my gut is telling me they not in great terms) but I got Rome over the rest 🔥
Auto liked this without checking your review. After watching, I think you summed most of this up perfectly, although for me Majisty is my favorite track. WTF end the record with that Chyna Streetz track though? I wanted this to go out with a bang, but it fizzled.
That his girl but i think he should hv given her a verse like an intermission into another song.
@@williedynamite9369 right
Preciate it bro!!
Ay so I didn’t peep this til after I recorded, but on Big Ghost’s Band camp it lists that last Chyna Streetz track as a bonus track. I mean I still would prefer Rome to have the last verse on the track before, but if that was meant as a bonus track that makes a lot more sense.
And I ended up enjoying Majisty more when I wasn’t listening to the album straight through. Salute bro!
@@BSideRapReviews "Bonus"
you got some work bro, hype for mach & fahim and che noir !!
Gon be a busy weekend Fasho! I might react to that Kenny mason EP as well - he’s one of my fav artists right now
I need that Che noir ghost reaction
Already know! It’s up now if you haven’t prepped yet!
fucking with the new backgrounds bro. in the future though, creating a presentable room to film in would be dope
Precieat that bro! Soon...well hopefully lol. I think I'ma go with a green screen or a projector until I can build out a full studio but still brainstorming!
Big Salute!
Salute Brodie! Preciate you tapping in 💪🏾
yoo my boy got a green screen. Budget on the up n up. the length of this project puts it above Kiss the Ring for me despite Conductor’s phenomenal beats on that
Yooo I actually still gotta cop the green screen. I got a couple lights and I thought they looked cool as a background so that’s what I been rocking with! Green screen coming soon though!
I’m with you bro! I think Kiss the Ring had better highlights with long story short and reversible but overall this was much more consistent and a better project overall.
You peep Conductor dropped a beat tape today? Im not a huge beat tape guy but im def checking it out
Great album bro!! Ghost showed out like usual, same as Rome. Lived up to the lineup, time will tell how I feel overall. Good listen. I know you're busy bro, but would you ever consider reviewing a De La Soul album since they're finally streamable? Personally a big Stakes Is High fan
Not surprised at all but this joint definitely lived up to how good it looks on paper! I’m a big fan of both so glad this happened.
Maaan I want to say yes - I hate to wait to trugoy passed to give them their flowers but I do feel like they’d be a good group to do a classic album.
My only thing is idk if I’ll actually have time to get to it- outside of the Griselda series I’ve only reacted to 1 classic album and did 1 classic review. My goal is to start live streaming though and that’ll give me time to cover more music. So long winded way of saying hopefully lol!
Salute brotha!!
@B-Side Rap Reviews I feel you!! Always good to see those "dream collabs" or just two names you know are gonna work together. I know you're a busy man, I relate for sure. If you stream I will 100% try to catch it live or the replay, you already know. Speaking of classics, at the end of the Griselda series I'd be curious to see a ranking! How many classics do you think West Con & Benny got? Anyways bro, keep up on the grind. You're killin it. Salute!
Nicholas kraven Mach hommy and tha god fahim just dropped a new project. 🔥 🔥 . Also che noir just dropped a project with Big ghost. I like this project more than kiss the ring!
Ima try to have both reactions up this weekend!! Che is so fire! Biggest thing thag hold back her projects is her beats (when she decides to produce them herself) but her best work always comes when she works with fire procured imo.
I’m with you. Reversible and long story short are still 2 of my fav Rome Streetz songs but as far as a complete album - this one is much more concise and consistent!
Dope review you should review Rome Streetz - Street Farmacy next bro some of his best work
Preciate that brodie! I haven’t even peeped that joint yet. Ima def check it out - no promises on the reaction though cus I be slacking with the classic reactions lol
@@BSideRapReviews haha I hear you bro interested in your thoughts on it either way though
Idk about coke rap but someone like che noir can and has gone bar for bar with rappers like Rome streetz.
As far as armani caesar and chyna streetz I agree💀
Che is COLD!!! I haven’t listened to her joint that came out today yet but I will this afternoon for sure! Yeah im with you - I dont really consider her a coke rapper either but she’s in a similar lane…she’s what I thought Armani ceasar was gonna sound like when I heard Griselda was signing a female 😂
@B-Side Rap Reviews Peace bro 🙏🏼 hoping for a dump legends 2 reaction
@@manasmurthy5188 Absolutely!! Hopefully coming tomorrow 🔥
Idk how much of Rome streetz older stuff you know, but I think his older stuff quite a bit more abstract, and he’s kind of shifted to coke rap since joining griselda. But I think (and hope) he might explore that other side soon
I started really listening to Rome during his 2021 run (insane run by the way). Outside of that, I've listened to like Noise Candy but haven't heard all of his old projects. The thing about it for me is his stuff in the last couple years sounds better than his older stuff that I've heard so makes it hard to deep dive into some of those more obscure projects. Any older joints I should check out?
@@BSideRapReviews I like a number of songs, and his album with ANKHLEJOHN is pretty good, but yea a lot of those albums were less solid as wholes. Btw this album here really reminded me of some GOAT-era or Blakk Tape-era Conway
Facts Street Farmacy his best project imo
Big ghost not sleeping and dropping a Che Noir tape Friday
2 projects in a week is craaaaazy!! I haven’t peeped the Che noir joint yet but plan on reacting to it Fasho!
G.O.A.T.
You talm bout Rome? I personally think he has to add more projects to his catalog and stand the test of time before I put in him the GOAT convo but def one of the best right now and his talent is RIDICULOUS. Salute!
@@BSideRapReviews I'm just being hyperbolic, but he is one of the best out right now. Plus I don't really rank dudes like that. I rank rappers like liquor or weed. You got top shelf , mids and booty. Basically all my Top 25 are equal.
@@jawnkandy hahaha im stealing that dawg - he top shelf fasho…don julio 1942 lol! I respect it- easily one of the best out
This shit crazy.
New Mach & Fahim tonight.
This was the big week for music this whole year imo. I def gotta react to that new Mach and that new che noir as well
Great Analysis On Every Track..Any Chance You Can React and Critique Some CRIMEAPPLE Albums..That Would Be Dope As Hell..Salute And Cheers
Preciate that brotha!! I been thinking about reacting to Aguardiente…but not sure if Ima have the time though. I wanna get to more classic stuff but so far I’ve only reached or reviewed 2 classic joints lol.
How you feel bout his 2 EPs that dropped this year?
This not related to those 2 albums specifically but I like Crimeapple but dude not consistent at all lmao. He’ll sound absolutely elite on one project and the next will be mid lol. I think he raps up to the caliber of his producer. His joints with Big Ghost and Muggs are his best
"Ain't no feminists in coke rap" issa very wild comment bruh lmao. That made me literally laugh, but I think youre right. Anyhow, nice collab between Rome and Big Ghost Ltd. Been on my De la Soul binge this weekend since everything's on streaming now, but my three runs through this album last week, along with this review, left me satisfied. I'll be returning to this project. Rome's flow can be a little "samey" at times, but dude's just a pure spitter, so I give him a pass for that as long as the bars and literary devices are elite. I give this project 4 mics. Year's been light so far regarding hip hop releases, so this one's right on time.
Lmao it’s true though - knew I would catch no flak for that 😂😂😂
Pretty bittersweet with them not being back on streaming until trugoy passed. RIP to him.
But yeah bro I think 4 mics is perfect rating. Yeah that’s prob the only thing holding his projects back from moving to that classic territory. He’s flashed the ability to show off dynamic flows and normally it sounds less own dimensional the better the production is - perfect example being death and the magician. But like you said he a pure sputter - the way he puts syllables together is INSAAANE!
Hopefully this year picks up - I been starving for music but last week was a really good week between this, Mach, and Che noir. And there were several good singles too
this probably your funniest vid yet lmaooo
Hahah ay I just be having fun at this point 😂
Gotta agree conway my favorite but Rome easily the best with the bars right now in grieslda, crime shame he didn't rap on that wakandaish beat at the end but someone said that was his wife🤷🏾♂️ dope video🙌🏽🙌🏽
Yeah I’m with you - Gunn prob my fav in Griselda but I think Rome def got him with the bars. Idk if Mach and Griselda still in good terms cus he’s dropped multiple surprise projects around same time as Griselda members which is odd but if he still in Griselda I personally got him as the bar for bar best followed by Rome, then take your pick from Conway and Benny.
Yeah facts! That’s was one of the coldest beats of the album. She wasn’t bad at all but it woulda been dope to hear Rome on it. Preciate the love brodie! 🙏🏾
@B-Side Rap Reviews I was just telling my homie about that lol it's that Nas and Jay energy, cold war like a mf😭 mach ain't letting anyone drop without his presence
Definitely my favorite album from Big Ghost since I started listening to his stuff! Rome is on a different level with his technical rapping and definitely has to be the best when it comes to use of alliteration.
I’m not really bothered by Rome’s use of the same flow, I think what makes his albums run long for me is more-so the punchline build-up that he uses just to throw a weak jab at the end often times. The Ghost-medium line and the two L’s to the face baby I’m jingling lines were CRAZY but definitely would like more of those from Rome throughout this project. Have Skyzoo and the Ty Farris-Trox joint project above this one in the year but dope project overall!
Yeah this a good pick cus this joint is Tuff! The bars from Rome just pair so perfectly with Ghost.
Yeah you’re right - I don’t think that’s a problem with all of his albums but it def shows up time to time. Like it ain’t a coincidence that his best songs the ones with the heaviest punches. I think its a issue with just him though - I see it with Conway, eto, flee lord as well…except it’s not quite as big of a deal with Rome just cus of his lyricism.
Bro I gotta check that Ty Farris joint out. I’ve heard it but didn’t listen if that make sense - had it on at work one day. You check out that Oddisee joint? I got that one pretty high too
I just checked out the Oddisee joint, it’s fire!! He really turned up in the second half of the album and it’s great hearing a new Phonte verse! Thanks for putting me on to this one bro 🙏🏾
The dark drums on 8Balls are the same as on Wraithful by Conway or am I trippin?
Bruh this tripped me out- I listened to them back to back like 5 times and they sound the exact same to me. I ended up check out both the samples though and the drum are straight from the sample though and they’re different samples….but they sound exactly the same lol. 8balls sample is Hibiscus by Andy Bey and Wraitful is Something for Everybody Suite by Steven Halpern if you wanna check it out!
@@BSideRapReviews LMAOO I knew it. That these are from 2 different Songs is crazy lol. Will check them out. Great Work!
Armani Caesar catching strays is hilarious
Lmao and then I gotta react to Che Noir too so it might be a few more coming her way 😂😂
I'm cheating watching this. I downloaded this a couple days ago but I been injured so I haven't rode in the car with it yet. Rome is the guy. He is better than the Machine but La Maquina is still my guy.
Haha that's how I be feeling when I watch reactions before listening to the actual album 😂 I haven't bumped this one in the car yet but for rome I prefer a headphone listen - I like to hear every single syllable but I know some of these Big Ghost beats gonna go CRAAAZY with the bass in the car.
Rest up - wishing you a speedy recovery!
@@BSideRapReviews thanks brotha I appreciate that.
Peace to the brother B… Don’t feel bad for admitting Rome is the best lyricist in Griselda. If we go back and look at Rome since Noise Kandy he was nicer than Ben and Con b4 the link up. We know what to expect from Rome BARS.. dude probably rhyming as we speak. He’s definitely for those that have a love for bar heavy music. “Antidote” is serious. You still undefeated my guy👊🏿
Peace brotha!! Yeah you make a great point and lmao yeah bruh him and Chyna prob rap battling about what they having for dinner 😂
Antidote is hard - I rock with Plex verse heavy too! So far - I been going back to royal flush the most.
Preciate the love my guy! Salute! ✊🏾
rome is the best lyricist in griselda period
Project is probably better than KTR to me 🔥
Yeah I personally think it's better than KTR too. I think KTR had higher highs with joints like Long Story Short and Reversible, but as far as a cohesive project, Wasn't built in a day is much more consistent and concise.
Rome up there n his flow is OD but put him against Conway is not it
I’m not sure I know what you mean - you saying Conway better or you saying don’t compare them?
not benny maybe Conway westside don't rap no more
You talm bout best rapper in Griselda? Idk bro, his lyricism is better than Benny’s and I think his catalog from the past 3 years is better than Bennys over that same stretch too. What’s ya rationale for Benny? I got it Mach, Rome, Benny in that order.
I like the review, but can we stop putting an age limit to everything? This only happens in hip-hop. Black Thought is 51, and he’s still outrapping a lot of rappers out there… Meth is not old lol, age is just a number.
I honestly don't think its that deep but Meth like 10 years away from being able to take social security...he old bro lmao! It aint a big deal though - ain't no age limit in hip hop
