The answer here is a Yamaha ead10 and a set of 215 shure in ears.
Treat the room as you go but you’d be surprised on what that tool can do for your playing.

A follow up question would be: what would be the best way to sound proof a basement or den?

I really appreciate you answering my question and providing so much great info. I'll definitely be going with your recommendations. Thank you so much for your time and awesome content. PS. Sorry that my question was long winded, lol.

I’m an advocate for electronic kits. They’re not as sexy as acoustic kits but they are super useful and extremely quiet. You can get all the practice you need out of electronic kits ✌️✌️

I love the sound in a garage, but that's me, I like the natural reverb, kit sounds enormous!!

I'm in the exact same situation, except I'm stuck at my parents' place for the pandemic and mom doesn't let me do anything (ANYTHING) to the basement to soundproof it. But at least I can still practice, even though it doesn't exactly sound amazing
    Great advice though!

Throw up some blankets or large towels on mic stands or music stands and place them around your kit. You can tear all of it down after practice and store it away in a corner or something. That's a quick and easy way to control sound bouncing around. Granted it's not as affective as proper acoustic treatment but for how easy and cheap it is, i don't think you can complain. Best of luck!

I would recommend the Yamaha ead 10 acoustic drum mic and a good pair of over ear headphones. The custom EQ settings will make your drum sound a hundred times better even when you play loud and you can also connect your music to it through and auxiliary port. It's a really good investment.

WHAT HELPED ME: although a fair investment, silent stroke heads and l80 cymbals. It works

Hey dude, I'm sure I'm being silly but I went to orlandodrummer to sign up. From my phone and multiple browsers on my computer say it's not a safe connection or something and asks me if I want to proceed even though it's an unsecure connection. I don't know if this is normal or not. Help, I want to sign up!!

If you have the money, and aesthetics are a priority, that would be a great option.
If you don’t have the money, and aren’t concerned with aesthetics, you can achieve the same outcome for 1/4th the money and make the same panels yourself in an afternoon, with a single trip to Home Depot.

Drums in a basement sound horrible
The room is so important for good sounding drums
