- Sketch from the very hit and miss BBC series, Harry and Paul. This is the final sketch from the final show and is easily one of the better ones.
Even so, sadly this is isn't a return to their golden days.
This is the sort of well made serious quality documentaries that the BBC used to be famous and well-respected for. It'd be good if the BBC were to go back to making this kind of fascinating, cultural and educational material. 👌🏼
I thoroughly agree. What we need is the sort of short but informative fillum Mr. Chomondley-Warner and his chum Mr. Grayson used to produce - that would be just the ticket.
No not now.Its run by left wing clipboards.
I love the cultural tracking of these fascinating documentaries

Harry and Paul - The Henley Royal Northerner Show 2008 0422am 12.1.24 trouble with Harry Enfield is that he's spot on. akin to his coffee shop skits... it REALLY is like that. far more liable to descend into violence, though... as opposed to hurdling the vagaries of verbiage...
@@doctorpsylusAt least we northerners put our hands on our wallets , unlike you sutherners 😂
As someone who is as northern as a Gregg's corned beef pastie. I think the Northerner sketches are some of Harry and Paul's finest work.
I totally agree! I'm a Gregg's sausage roll!!! Lol
Metoo
Ironic because Corned Beef Pastys are Welsh
I agree. They work because you can tell they're made with affection and pokes humour at stereotypical southern representation of northerners as much as anything.
@@theeverchosen1504 Don't say that to the Cornish.
Love the way Gillian didn't even bother shave or wax her chest. Such confidence!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
You forgot 'Brave' 😂

Typical scouser
Absolutely brilliant humour, when we could laugh at ourselves. Love from Scotland.
See, I like this reply. Spot on. Harry and Paul took the piss out of all of us from all over the UK, all based on stereotypes and we all laughed our bollocks off at it. All the best from London, mate!
Yeah laughing is ofcourse racist, sexist, homophobic and bigoted these days , hows YOUR cage mines a bit pokey
5:42 "He's twatted one ot the judges there, a double-twatting". Priceless.
Tories have always had utter contempt for people from the north.

eh ooop!!! well I'll go t'foot of our stairs
@Ian Mangham bloooody éll; I'll report you to Eddie Waring and you'll be going for an early bath
Pity that we take these two for granted. Such an astonishing pairing in the history of U.K. comedy has arguably, never been seen.
The economics migrants trial.....is in Dover this year.
Apart from the brilliant humour the acting is second to none.
Checking for rickets, its essential he has them....
Subtly hilarious!!
Saw Theresa May at this last year. Was brilliant
Old English Sheila, Owner: Brigadier Lucas-Walliams. First time noticing that one!
The Down't' Pit Bull Terrier is also owned by Mr Corbett-Barker, and the Hull Kingston Rover by Mr Barrett-Fielding (Mighty Boosh).

What a lovely Documentary..👍
That is what the London-based journos think the rest of the country really looks like.
Doesn't it? Lol
@Conspiracy Theorist Lives Don't Matter omg its worse? Really 🤣
Your not being serious are you ?
Yes, its remarkable how well informed they are.

Can't praise Enfield and Whitehouse enough
Brit humour....fkg brilliant...we love it here in Australia....
PC has strangled the life out of comedy, it's all left-wing shite now.
@@AICabal no it isn't you fucking wet wipe
@@Sycophants_should_suffer Yes it is, you’ll never see comedy nowadays like this as well as shows like Little Britain lest it offend some blue-haired non-binary jobless waste of oxygen.
And we love all of Chris Lilley's brilliant shows here in the UK. Shame he's been effectively cancelled now though.
@@norfernbaz2578 true story
I love the fact that it's from Henley-on-Thames. You can take the Northerners out of the North, but just try taking Southerners out of the South (except for shooting weekends in Yorkshire of course).
Be fair... We have our country estates dotted all across the North. Admittedly we're only there from time to time, but when we're in residence it's something for you all to look forward to.
I don’t go north of Portsdown Hill if I can.

That’s why they built the forts up there. @@PhilbyFavourites
As a southerner,I love how realistic this is.
Only thing missing is southern poodles

Oh dear, he`s "Twatted" one of the judges! LOOOOL :)
DJMD. That's a double twatting!!

Oh I'm from Manchester, I'm crying . This is great.
I fear this kind of humour will become extinct soon...
Only if you let them win.
Classic Line!! Scouse Terryier, He’s retrieved those from Steven Gerrard’s house while he was on the away leg of the champions league match.👌👍🤣
Someone in the audience was clearly floored by that moment at 3:20... as was I!!!
I'm a northerner but this is hilarious
Most likely said by a southerner lol
I'm a posh snob but this is hilarious.
Indeed,isn't it just!
@chanctonbury63 exactly ☺
@chanctonbury63 Exactly. To say "I'm a Northener but it's still funny" means nothing. Congrats, you got the obvious joke.
Used to go to lots of dog shows. Brilliant parody. I can recognise a lot of the characters!! As for the 2 doing the commentary...
Priceless...
I just love this sketch. Clearly, fun is made of the pompous southerners too. Harry Enfield makes quite an attractive lady - hairy chest and all lol
This is such a brilliant sketch from a time when people still had a sense of humour.
What does that even mean?
Tyke Man Well said!👍🏻
Subo thai Yes unfortunately the bbc pc softy boys have taken the fun out of life.
@Tyke Man But this is taking the piss out of posh (right-wing) Southerners, i.e. the same people who always moan about "the PC brigade" etc etc. The "new age woke police" are the ones who'd find this funniest.
What a load of fucking bollocks you talk. Nobody is taking offence, just you trying to stir it up by making a fucking mountain out of a molehill - like the very PC folk you claim to disdain. A plague on both your houses, ya twat.
This is why I watch you tube....alot!
"Is it a real benefits office Gillian
"No but they think it is "
LOL 🤣
I missed that one! Possibly the funniest thing all year!!!
There a good northener, who's a good northener, now go and vote for your masters.
As a shandy drinking Southerner I thought this was spot on.
The comentary is superb...and the laughs are perfect... they are so professional.
Being a brummie, I enjoyed this.
Didn't know Brummies enjoyed anything except Aston Villa😅
Brilliant, not seen this before. A lot of work and production values were put into this sketch and it shows.
Is that Jonny Vegas?
The one who does a forward roll.
Yes
The Bloodshot Cumberland.
Who else?
Cameron and Osborne's REAL vision of the Northern Powerhouse!
"Powerhouse"
laughing at northerners, as if it was their fault Tories made millions unemployed, lying that ship building would go to third world countries, when it's now in Japan and Scandinavia. Leaving whole communities with no hope or a 0 hour contract in supermarket. Then when Labour give hope to many by encouraging more than ever to go to university, then Tories get back into power they cause students to get £40,000 in debt.
La1 It was Blair that brought in Student loans in '97 - NOT the Tories!
bugattieb110ss yes but it was the coalition that allowed the universities to charge the full £9000.
yeah, but they--and the Treacherous BBC are desperate to bury it
Can you imagine the rioting and looting if this was shown today. On the other hand, forget that, they're not efnics.
...what?
@@Koorova Seems rather accurate to me.
@@Koorova Aw bless.
I did and still came to the same conclusion, that given how sensitive modern people are and their propensity to get upset and try and cancel everything that offends them (or someone else), this would never have seen the light of day.
Either that or Harry and Paul would have had to publish a grovelling apology and beg for forgiveness from the tolerant, lefty / liberal fascists .
@@johnmartinez7440 Okay.
Easy version.
Modern PC snowflakes get upset over the smallest things.

Hey, we're not all like that! I'm a "lefty" & I thought it was bloody hilarious!
Bugger the olympics, screen the economic migrants trial, hosted by Katie Hopkins and Nigel Farage. Oh yes.
harry and paul, supreme comedy talent, great to see the scouser back!
For 't' king of 't' north.
Very Monty Python, if you recall the Upper Class Twit of the Year final!
@MusicManMaurice
Followed by "Taking the Bra Off The Debutante"
We had a northerner once..young fellow..bolted during a regular visit to Waitrose..very very dissatisfied with his behaviour..absolutely shocking.
They are ok around fireworks, though. To be fair.
The prices probably scared him.
Gillian is sooo Henley-on-Thames, a town awash with people like Gillian, as I know only too well.
This is from a time when comedians and writers were witty and clever. Anyone who has attended dog shows should recognise many of the characters depicted. In the last few years we seem to have lost any real sense of humour. This is a gem.
I think 90% of the people still love this and anything goes comedy in general. It’s just a loud 10% of anti everything crazies that we hear about sadly they are powerful and can end careers over “words” and hurt feelings.
The economic migrants bit at the end is now more relevant than ever!
Hilarious... I never get tired of this sketch!
A 2008 South of England Economic Migrants Trial. Jesus, it's an Olympic-scale event in the UK now.
They are both excellent comic actors
Why is it that every Harry and Paul video, which once had a comment section of funny replies, is now just constant whining about how "you wouldn't be allowed to show this on TV nowadays!!!!!!"?
Probably because it's entirely true.
@@TheDajoca Why would satire not be shown on TV?
I reckon this is a bit of a joke about ignorant southerners, so in a way it is pro north, anti south
Someone got the joke, thank goodness
It's taking the piss out of the while North-South thing. The joke is on the people who perpetuate it and insist on either championing or ridiculing one side or the other.
Johnny Vegas and the scouser...love it!
I'm scouse and I've always loved Harry's depiction of scousers. Shame we're not allowed to laugh anymore these days. Thanks for the memories H me old son.
Oh I’m so sorry, did the Tories force to live in North Korea?
@billpugh58 hard to decipher what you mean Bill. I live abroad now you're right there. Although the Tories aren't the best I'd die before voting for Labour.

1:46 Is Johnny Vegas the Cumberland Bloodshot? 😂
Johnny Vegas ? & that last gag economic migrants trial
called that one Harry !
i must watch this every day its brilliant
Brilliant satire. Accurately portrays the view many southerners have of northerners. The rugby player was very inaccurate, however.
How was the Rugby one not accurate? Was it the shirt?
He looked like a union player. Tall, fat. Up North, they play Rugby League. Fitter and faster. Different game. I grew up in Henley On Thames. We played Union.
Genius sketch! I'd argue its more of a view of how the rest of us view you home counties folk!
Fantastic! Down t'pit bull terrier! Classic!
Down t'pit bull terrier is now an extinct breed.
The pairing of the owners was really convincing.
harry n Paul are kings of comedy. brilliaaaaaant!
Hull Kingston Rover clearly wearing a southern Union shirt.
And from the 70's too!
Yes, it's a breeding aid. "Appen.
and untypically, for a Rugby League player, he was incredibly unfit (even for Hull Kingston Rovers)

Watching this in Sept 2020, the world has gone into panic mode, anyone who sneezes has the plaque, and if you get within 10 yards of another human you'll die within a week. He said "twatted" on tv 😊👍
"....the darting mistrustful eyes..." lol! This is SO wrong!! LOL!
You have no idea how scarily accurate some of these condescending attititudes are.
I speak from personal experience as my Northern sibling is now a "Hooray Henry" type. Lol.
I come from the North of England and unlike some I do not try to hide the fact.
This is a funny representation as in my experience I have found it to be true. 🙂

One of my all time favourite sketches. The Scoucer is definitely my uncle Terry :))
Alright, alright, calm down.
Terry is such a Scouse name, along with Kevin and Aveline.
It's funny becasue although there clearly stereotypiing and talking the piss , there's some truth in all of it !

It reminds me of Oxbridge contestants on University Challenge who claim to be from Yorkshire. No mate - you're not from Yorkshire, you OWN Yorkshire.
They're probably from Harrogate, which is (technically) in Yorkshire, though you wouldn't know it from the locals. When somebody in Harrogate says that they're "just popping into town, shopping" they're talking about a trip to London!
