About Euro Truck Simulator 2
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a vehicle simulation game developed and published by SCS Software for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS and was initially released as open development on 19 October 2012. The game is a direct sequel to the 2008 game Euro Truck Simulator and it is the second video game in the Truck Simulator series. The player can drive one of a choice of articulated trucks across a depiction of Europe, picking up cargo from various locations and delivering it. As the game progresses, it is possible for the player to buy more vehicles and depots, as well as hire other drivers to work for them.
The game has sold over 5 million units on Steam as of July 2019, according to the metrics website Steam Spy.

Be interested to see Manual vs Real Automatic with Adaptive AT set to Power Mode.
will be still crap. ETS2 can't properly skip gears for best performance at all.
@@Benedettini93 Neither can ATS so the automatic will go through almost all gears and cut power every time it shifts. That's especially annoying in the lower gears when you take off and want to clear an intersection....That thing will shift every gear with a ~1 second power cut each time. Aaaaaarghhh!
@@waswolltihr1526 That's normal, because those gearboxes are actually semi-automatic. But yeah, as you have just said ETS2/ATS logic is too dumb yet for correct & effective shifting.
What’s adaptive AT?
What does power mode do?
Thanks for having me! It was an interesting experience for sure 😁 amazing work on the editing and all the visuals I love your work as always. Onto the next one!
Really nice showing the gps at the bottom right as we can see the gear and speed easier.
2:38 Very early shifting, like whoever-the-driver-is had done before with 6-speed. If he had better information about power and torque of that engine, he wouldn't ever shift up before 1.900 rpm (or 2.000, even 2.100 is good) and the 0-70 could've been under 45 seconds for sure. His shifting is not effective.
His shifting is good. With a big load truck will accelerate using torque, not power and in real life this motor has best torque until 1400rpms and then it gets lower.
Yes that's true i wasn't too aggressive on RPM as how i should it is my mistake. But still it proves that shifting manually gets you faster than Automatic shifting
@@TGMStefa Power and Torque are actually combined for overall output. Torque gives the best pull-power, that's true (+ economical) . But up to maximum HP which is around 1900-2100 rpm, then the truck will be pushing harder by more power but less torque (parabolically increasing consumption) yet keeping the momentum high. Nevertheless you still prove that manual is much better in ETS2 ;) Even real automatic mode is shit in this sim imho.
@@Benedettini93 Yes you are right, i was actually looking at the max power output of the engine which is at 1900rpm (730hp) and so i tried to do changes between 1400-2000rpm for best performance. I did lot of test before with this one in video and i did way better but simply due to fact my partner was in hurry we didnt have much time for redoing so i had to include those videos, It was all in one go and it was my mistake for not shifting later btw Thank you again for your informative comment it is always pleasure for me
@@TGMStefa Hey, if you ever want to help out with some racing stuff feel free to contact me on Discord. I've spent so much time trying racing or trying to tune my truck for speed :) truckersmp.com/user/84031
Nice test. I never liked Automatic transmission because this type of thing. You always get slow, your trip stay boring and long, and the motor sounds weird. Manual transmission is realistic and old school. Thumbs up 4 the video!
But most trucks are automatic, EU pretty much all long haul trucks.
Automatic can just relax drive, heavy cargo use manual
Well, manual is slightly better because you can choose at what engine speed you want to change gears, the automatic is only limited so it changes on what is set to so, in this case, the automatic will change gear at 1500 RPM the only time it will go over 1500 is when your obviously pulling a load uphill but with manual you can choose to want RPM you want to change gear & you can obviously rev the engine higher with manual then auto but then it again auto is easier but sometimes when you want to go higher with the revs you can't with an auto because it's only set to change gear at a certain RPM with manual so can choose go higher RPM's if you need to so I prefer manual a bit more then auto. And great video as well.
To proper test the automatic and manual transmissions you should change the option 'Adaptive automatic transmission' in the Options menu and set it to 'Power Mode' when in automatic. With this setting the engine will rev up to 20 revolutions just like you shift in manual.
in manual you only shift at 2000 rpm when you either have a 6-speed or you really need power. in 12 and 14 speeds you shift around 1500 rpm when changing a whole gear or around 1250 when you shift half a gear. at least when going economical. if you still go power you even shift the half gears around 1500 rpm. that simply is because of the engines torque peaks at around 1400 rpm
I'd like to see Adaptive AT in Power Mode vs Manual
That's why i love manual gear i always play ets2 with manual mode.we can shift gear in max rpm any time
With Manual, you can Shift the Gear later ;D
That feels good as an old manuel driver : )
when you using manual transmission, change gear to high rpm(2400) dont at 1500rpm,
miroslav milovcevic tako jee, neka ruči 🤣
Nope, 1900 rpm is optimal for this engine.
Awesome video bro. Me, in a nutshell, because I only have keyboard:
Automatic - Cities/Towns
Sequential - "Dirty" Roads/Montains/Highway/Uphill etc.
Next time make a video on low rpm shift vs high rpm shift acceleration video.
I'd be most interested in also seeing a comparison with an h-shifter, I don't know if you guys have one though
In manual transmission the speed is increased and the truck goes ahead but in automatic speed increase but truck moves slowly ahead
I use clutch and shifter, is that also beneficial in a way but definitely more fun
Sadly for modern European trucks clutch and shift is no longer realistic. They are all automatic now. :(
@@johnbower7452 I think It's a good thing. Automatic transmission in the real trucks is probably not as bad as they are ingame
@@herbert3177 tbh I didn't notice a lot of difference in the Renault and Volvo I drove. But that may be because it was on flat ground and I was too busy enjoying the real thing.
use adaptive automatic transmission at high power....
Question at what rpm is peak torque & Horse power in trucks of ets2 in general?
It ranges from 900 to 1500 rpm
Do a test in normal transmission and adaptive transmission
Can you do a comparison between Sequential shifting and H pattern shifting?
Would be interesting how big of a difference there is
An advantage with a H shifter is that on lower loads you can skip gears, when i have less than 18-20 tons i usually start on 3rd L gear then 5L 7L 8L 8H that gives a good start and you only use 5 gears
Yea, would be nice if SCS let the auto rev. up just a little more before shifting. 1500 is to low of rpm to be shifting at.
Set the gearbox to real automatic, power setting and adaptive automatic. If you're driving pedal to the medal it will shift pretty late to allow max. Power
If you change the Adaptive AT setting to Power it will let the revs get up to 2000 before it shifts.
Basically, manual is quicker, as the Automatic short shifts at 1.5k with the idea of fuel economy. On the manual you can burn it slightly higher.
I drive 12 speed H-shifter with clutch on a xbox controller :D
how do you have your controller mapped
Nice test!!
Nice video mate, where is this road located?
Very Nice comparative!!!What do you use to record this videos? And how do u do to have 2 trucks at the same time on the video? Are 2 players? Or which Mode is?
It would be more interesting to compare to various H-shifter modes. Automatic and sequential cheat when doing a standing start, to the point that they can easily do hill starts that are impossible when working the clutch yourself. Someone rumored they get a torque converter even when they shouldn’t have one. The H-shifter can get redemption at higher speeds, depending on all kinds of variables. In simple mode you can force it into a gear to get nearly instant shifts without even letting go of the accelerator. In advanced mode you need to disengage the clutch for a fixed amount of time before the gear will engage (it’s the same regardless of the RPM gap you’re trying to bridge), or get a perfect rev match with the clutch engaged. You can also split without disengaging the clutch. All kinds of tradeoffs that can work out one way or the other. You can disable g_hshifter_synchronized to force having to rev-match. The transmission simulation is so clunky, though.
I found a mod for ats by fury6 that fixes the clutch on the trucks
It is amazing they actually start properly
More slow = More safe
Cool video liked 👍
Plz do a fuel efficiency test
The lowest HP make mores KM/L, sometime i make 4.9KM/L in my Scania 520 6x2 taillift, with an 6 tons cargo and krone dry liner.
@@C0lon0 in my Scania S500 6x2 with taglift I makes 3,2km/l with 8-ton
Full RPM vs mid RPM
Please try power automatic shift :)
Super video nice man
Manual is the way to go unless it's a heavy haul using crawlers and hills. Otherwise just learn how to use a gearbox and get used to the power band of each gear in your truck. Manual is faster all the way but heavy cargo takes some getting used too because of the clutch.
This is even including the fact you cheated the auto out of it really because you set the auto to standard and so it cant rev that's the only reason with even your bad shifting it pulls away the tiniest amounts.
You should change gears when you reach a higher engine speed
No, its damage the engine
Vinicius Santana it just doesn’t Tho if it was damaging anything it would be the gearbox
Realistically speaking when driving a truck you shouldn’t always aim for high rpm gear changes. You burn through more fuel that way and also wear out your gearbox.
@@karma4859 now i know that i doens't know anything about trucks
@@vinikk77 didn't* and if you dont know about trucks why you here then
Wow, I would drive with the sequential manual.
With Manual, you can Shift the Gear later
which better for performance? Automated adapted for high performance or manual?
Bruno Eduardo there’s not a major difference between these two of you look at the times, but manuals get up to speed quicker that automatic’s, automatic gearbox’s (transmissions) change gears quite early so they aren’t always accurate, but with manual you can easily gain more speed easier once from low gears then obviously shift up to high. I’m not like an engineer or a car mechanic so I’m not really sure how they gear functions properly work with why higher gears make it gain speed slower. Also like it’s 3:31am in the morning and like I woke up like 2 hours ago soo my brain is still half asleep.
But in manuals you have more control with the car and the gears as well as the speed, with an automatic you don’t. But as much as a automatic is easier and useful manuals will always still be the best, but as time goes on manuals won’t be a thing anymore everything will be automated, but if anything malfunctions there will always be a manual override. So yea maybe manuals would kinda still be a thing. And you usually can have more gears in a manual than a automatic, such as a H-Shifter you have a little knob or switch on the gear stick where you can split the gears, to give you up to 20 or so gears. It just splits the gears in half.
I'd go for sequential/manual H-shift (doesn't matter) for both best performance and best consumption. Eco-mode doesn't upshift before 1.500, in reality it does. When cruising with my FH13 500 equipped with 12 speed, I upshift around 1.250 when pacing, and when at cruise speed I keep my rpm around 900-1100 (doing 78kmh at 1000), with 20 tonnes I could achieve 18.5l/100km in Germany.
Could you make with clutch mode
it honestly depends on how good you are at shifting gears
Nice !
Would u be able to make a tutorial on setting up the sequential shifter? I use the Logitech g920 with the shifter but it doesn’t register me shifting through the gearbox. However, it does work on H-shifter setting but I would prefer to use the sequential.
Where on the map is this mountain of tests?
Make it real next time. There is one thing: Making the Allison manual in game options does not make it manual. You only decide when it shifts, but ... thats not how that works. In real life, Allison 4500R is fully automatic double-clutch transmission with hydrodynamic torque converter, therefore it shifts the gears without losing the acceleration (it shifts AND accelerate simultaneously). But you simply can't do that with manual transmission. When you decide to shift, you have to disconnect the gear from the engine, change the gear, and connect it back. It results in losing the acceleration for a moment. Exactly the same shifting procedure is valid for automated transmission, only the gear stick is missing. Finally, the game enables to make the Allison be manual, but this is a nonsense. It is intended to be automatic and the developers know that. You can prove yourself. Take your truck with Allison, choose automatic gearbox mode in game options, stand still and force the gearbox to start on the second gear or higher. As you throttle up, the torque converter will provide smooth acceleration until certain speed is achieved. After then the converter locks and the transmission will operate in the direct mode (rpm drops but the gear remains the same). Automatic transmission should be and actually IS always more effective and faster the the manuals.
His tests were comparing acceleration and pulling power in game between using the game to decide when and how to shift versus using a sequential manual for a human to best determine when to shift. The whole point of the test is to see how bad or good the game logic is at shifting. The difference in how automatic, automated, and manual works in real life has no bearing on this test
That’s why while i’m driving at highways or climbing at hills i switch to manual, but when i go to cities, I go automatic.
Awsome!
Is this on truckersmp?
Because on the 14 ton uphill challenge one of the trucks had lights on the grill the way you can't in mp
left automatic right manual ?? 🤔🤔
Elle vites atmanın daha yavaş olacağını düşünmüştüm
Thats not a manual, its tiptronic. In real life manual are much slower than automatics.
This is sequential it is not h shift pattern
Yesss
Nice chanel
I don't think this test has any worth since it's 'simple' automatic. But it's a nice video.
Jan Šoukal it he did real automatic then yes it’ll be worth it, simple automatic it’s like Arcade automatic, real automatic is like well as it says proper automatic, then there’s manual Sequential or H-Shifter.
I use 12 gear manual
Haha cool comparison
Auto Transmitter Mode ? Power Mode ?
When will u tell us the location of this hill?
It's in the ProMods map, the location is "goto - 38080.7;49.1919;-105318;-1.62163;-0.016526"
TGM 👍
TGM I’ll give that a go.
TGM how do u look up coordinates? Is that in game via the console?
I see sequential is better than simple automatic in a acceleration and speed but how do i use sequential do i get my rpm to max or somewhat almost max
hi guys, which bundle is good to buy? essentials or black sea bundle?

Bro depends how well you shoft in manual
You shoud det the automatic
gear box in pearformence setting because actually whit the scania s 730 V8 the automatic shifts faster whit pearformence settings
I like Manual so much more and you see its performing better but if you shift always at higher rpms as automatic you need more fuel but it depends on your "driving style" I personally drive with H-Shift :)
What about fuel economy?
O_o
Du kommst mit Automatik weiter..
Wie wäre es mal mit Kupplung und Schaltung? Sprich; H-Schaltung
I want you test about race of 6*4 vs 8*4
Manual is best for handling
Kalo matic menang kalo jarak dekat tapi kalo manual jarak jauh, juaranya
When using manual us the real manual and not the sequential as it does not use the clutch so it's not a manual as you are not really using a real manual box and having to shift the gears
Manuel KİNG
What’s the horn that you are using?
Dat Manual ^^
I love euro truck simulator 2
Where do you film these videos?
Lmao in his house😂😂😂
on an uphill the automatic transmission goes crazy and the truck goes very slow

what money mod do you use?
how to increase the speed above 90 KMPH in my game it does not goes above 90

Can someone recommend a straight road? Recommend a road without hills
I always prefer automatic transmission in this simulator.
yes but in automat u had an economic model
What road is this????
Manual won on a straight road. Try it again on a gay road. Automatic might win
That's the point, the automatic "should" be faster in a straight line due to precise shifting points but isn't.
Driving on twisty roads is just gonna slow it down even more due to constant acceleration and deceleration required to move successfully through a corner. Also shifting speed isn't a factor since it's a sequential, only the RPM at which the shift happens.

Manual transmission driver very early shifting.
