I'm not working as a delivery driver or anything but all I can say is I hate how sometimes people use their workstations and leave them completely dirty. Like, your work area is basically your "breathing area" because you spend there usually more than 7 hours a day so might as well leave it clean and pick up after yourself. It will make the life of the one after you easier and in general improve everyone's day by just showing the workers care and i'm sure it takes literally half a minute to pick after yourself in a job like this.

@@bruschi8148 Yes, I spent 22 years driving the small Jeep and some ice cream truck. Finally got the LLV. Worst vehicle was the Ford Van, totally not setup for postal work. Love the LLV as long as there are no hills. I worked in Riverside, CA where there are plenty of hills. Those poor little engines were worked very hard, but they hung in there. I did have anywhere from 600 to 1,000 plus stops, depending on the route. These Amazon people have it easy. Hope his EV doesn't blow up on him. Time is ticking and the batteries are decaying as he drives.
Still can't figure out why Amazon is delivering. Amazon added more vehicles on the road. The USPS would do the heavy work as we go to every stop 6-days a week delivering mail and 7-days a week for parcel delivery. What Amazon is doing is driving long distances just to deliver a tiny package. Too much waste.

As a fellow Amazon driver I despise how nasty and filthy my co-workers are, Its actually rather pathetic they leave these vans trashy like they do. I think they should start implementing penalties to drivers who had the vehicle last who trashed them, Maybe reduce their hours or give them a trashier van until they can learn basic common decency. I was thinking that too, then thought about how hard they work, and what they may have gone through during a shift.
I used to work for DutchX, a third party company doing deliveries for Amazon.
They fired me, because I accidentally ignored their calls, when I was busy doing big deliveries at apartment buildings, over 4 floors up, no elevator, and the customer requested, or directly asked me to bring them upstairs, because they physically couldn't.
One of my customers was disabled, and I always bring packages upstairs when requested, so they don't get stolen from the lobby. Which happens to my building.
I basically got fired by DutchX for caring about my customers, and ignoring my managers' harassing calls, because I was focused on my job. Dispatcher didn't even tell me I was being called whenever I returned to the hub. I used 2 phones, and my hotspot phone in my bag, in the trailer, was the one they were calling.
And for whatever reason, DutchX was phasing out private delivery vehicles owned by drivers, replacing them with these slow ebikes, pulling these big electrically assisted trailers.
DutchX is such stupid, evil, abusive company. I would love to work for Amazon directly, but to my knowledge, they don't use quick ebikes to deliver smaller packages in NYC. It's trailers, vans like this, or walkers with handkarts.
So I'm guessing Amazon couriers can be overworked & stressed out.
Again, packages are being stolen from the lobby of my apartment building, so even I request mine be brought up to my door. But that has only happened twice, and one of them was UPS delivering my bicycle for Amazon.
So I'm guessing some Amazon delivery people are too stressed out & rushed to also keep their vans clean?

This is where Electric is an optimal best fit and makes sense: scenarios with frequent start/stop and lot of miles traveled each day. It makes sense too for people who drive 15K+ miles each year in daily city/regional trips that can recharge the battery to full each night. Outside of those scenarios, as a vehicle with the most versatility and best cost/value ratio, it is not the best fit for a large portion of the population. This is just plain truth.

Yes, Tesla really missed the boat by focusing so much mental energy on the Cybertruck which is for a rather small market of enthusiasts. There’re a huge, huge market for last mile delivery vans. For a young company, Rivian really hit a home run with the EDV. I believe all those micro time savings all day long and improved worker comfort will result in measurable savings for companies delivering with the EDV - the electric propulsion is almost secondary to the savings from features that could be on any type of van.

Not gonna lie... i was an amazon driver and it SUCKED! I tried. I honest to god tried. No lie.
It was in NYC and i was sweating my ass off in the summer. Broken AC's. Overly sensitive devices that track you. They sent my ass to brooklyn.
There were some narrow ass drives over there. So someone decided to pull out. So i had to back up about a foot or 2 to let them out. I had alot of packages on that block.
The sensor recorded that and sent that to my boss. That counted towards my "points" are whatever.
I was dying of heat stroke. And i had to climb multiple flights of stairs at complexes that had no elevator and i couldnt leave packages in the lobby.
One building DID have a door man and she said it was ok. I had over 50 packages for him and there was a huge ass pile. I was so happy for that lol
I had to carry about 300 pounds of kitty liter up 5 flights of stairs because... no elevator. I was in yhe worst neighborhoods while my other co-workers had the best routes. I understand not everyone can have the same thing. I completely get that.
BUT DAMN! It sucked ass. I swear it was the worst job i ever had. When it came to my lunch break where they force you to log out of the system or whatever. I was still droping off packages.
In fact other people told me to do that un order to finish my load quicker. Then if you finished your route they made you do someone elses route!!!
So if i got done by 2 or 3 they would give me 150 more packages from someone else to do there share.
Jesus christ. I hated it. Then they wanted people to sign up to drive the even bigger trucks. Not the vans but the trucks for an extra dollar an hour.
Anyway. All im saying is that i didnt have this guys experience. Not at all. AND every other road was under construction AND most of the highway exits and entrances.
This must be a "small town". Cuz NYC kicked my ass. So i obviously switched to work in the warehouse they set up the packages. Not deliever them shortly afterwards.
This made me vow to never take a job delivering anything to anyone ever again.
Edit: if he is happy with it then im happy for him. I just wanted to convey my horrible experience.

I swear man i was pissing brown. I had the pee bottles i swear to god.
Also when i was in a jewish neighborhood they asked me to turn off some of their lights as it was apart of their custom for a specific holiday or practice. Im not too familiar with their culture.
BUT i remember it clearly. The sun was setting in the late after noon. I was running with a cart full of packages. I think i had 80 or so. I was sweating bullets and the sidewalk was not at all level.
So they asked me to turn off a few lights. I asked if they were sure. They said yeah.
I turned off their lights. Maybe 3. Gave them their package. And left with a piece of cake that they gave me. I thanked them. I went outside and within 6 seconds the cake was gone. I swallowed it.
That gave me the strength to finish my route. After that i finished my route. Then i got stuck in traffic from the tailend of brooklyn and went ALL the way back to the island.
I swear to jesus. It was a bunch of bullshit.
Also here is the kicker. Aparently the same week i was hired was the week that they switched to downtown brooklyn and i had NO IDEA until i was going over the bridge! I was pissed off!!

As a delivery driver I'm jealous of 2 main things on the rivian (though are much more common in US anyway)
The access to the rear from the cab and the sliding passenger door and being able to step out rather than climb out while trying to not get pulled out by the door on windy days. Would save me so much time and effort climbing in and out every stop. Not that its hard but couple hundred times a day adds up real fast on top of being manual so thousands of clutch uses too and my knees aren't getting younger..
The proximity locking on the keyless system is nice too but I deliver in rural area so not so important for me

As a DA who drives these things daily....I'll say this:
*1. They do make delivering way easier than driving any other van, whether it's a Dodge/Ford/sprinter simply because there's no key to turn on/off. The passenger side door is great! The added shelving system also makes stacking totes/over-flow a lot easier!
    *2. Rivian 'craftsmanship' sucks a$$!
My DSP recently added 12 new EV's in the last 2 months and yet, over half of them are already "grounded" for various issues, mostly having to do with "electronic sensors"....Errors about turn signals not working, when in fact they are! Sensors indicating the back-door is open, even though it's closed! TPMS sensors indicating low tire pressure, even though they're all at the suggested PSI (When cold) and a few that have issues w/Cruise Control not working! We're talking about EV's that fresh off the assembly line and have less than 10 miles on them!

There could be a dozen or more routes from each hub, and every day they'll be different. You just can't manually and efficiently work out that kind of complexity, you need a computer algorithm.

For Friday night, most Jewish people are going to head to the local synagogue for Shabbat Service, which celebrates the time of rest or Sabbath. Similar to how Christians regard Sunday/Saturday, Jewish people take the period starting Friday night (per Jewish custom, nights are considered the start of the next "day") and then have another shorter service Saturday night to break the Sabbath. It's interesting to view the start of your next day as getting sleep to prepare, rather than the US traditional sunrise/breakfast.

Drivers should just kinda own certain areas so they can get to know the roads and regular delivery areas. Fewer problems and accidents that way. Plus better accountability when there is a problem.

0:27 these are the little morale boosters I like to see at work 🙂
I once changed a poster out with a spoof joke one (in the official company style and fonts), overlooking the main office. It got taken down 3 and a half weeks later.

The rivian is okay in my opinion.. the real only benefit for me anyway is the added space… if I can have that added space in the regular cargo van I’d be just as happy
