Yeah, baby! Rivian designs vehicles that people truly fall in love with. Top-notch engineering, beautiful design touches inside and out. We’ve been loving our R1S for 15 months now.
Rivian should do the opposite of what every other EV manufacturer does which is roll out the most expensive EVs first and get the 3X out as fast as possible.

All electric cars needs to make charging port in front middle and rear so drivers has choice to charge in either parked direction and positions regardless where charger is installed
Thanks for the walkthrough! 10:04 Personally, I don't think the charging port location matters all that much for smaller EVs. Ideally, it should be on the driver side front quarter panel because that gives the fastest access for the driver, conforms to most garages better, and doesn't require you to back into charging spaces like a 1990s wannabe boy racer. For larger trucks and SUVs that are likely to be used for towing, it should be in the driver side rear quarter panel to facilitate using pull-through charging stalls without having to detach the trailer. Basically, just like ICE trucks.
6:15 roll-down glass (rear hatch). My parent's 1965 Dodge Polara Wagon had this feature. The Polara had a remote electric switch on the dashboard. Of course, being an ICE, parents had to be careful when to lower the window as CO2 could enter the cabin easily - like when driving. Low pressure on the rear end just sucks it in. An idea just with the engine off(!).
The big thing in EVs should be the Cheap Leaf Lease, a solid EV that makes a perfect city car and 2nd car, inexpensive to run and very inexpensive to get in many states.
Do people want to buy a cyber truck? My local tesla has called me 3 times after 3 no's maybe they will stop, they have like 30 in their lot all waiting to be sold.... Also SAD its not until 2027+ I would love an R3x I have wanted an EV hot hatch for 5+ years and getting a rally edition out the gate.... TAKE MY WALLET. R2 is probably the better choice to start with. Bigger market.
Take my money is my sentiment exactly! I've had my R1S for 14 months and absolutely love it but I want an R3X bad.....I wish they would open up preorders soon; I know they don't want to disappoint people having to wait a long time but I'm good getting in the queue even if it takes 2+ years to get one.....
The move of the charge port makes it far less useful when towing. One thing I love about Rivian's charge network is that nearly every location has a "trailer stall". Moving the charge port to the back completely breaks compatibility with those trailer stalls since they're all designed expecting the towing vehicle to have its charge ports at the front driver's side. And now they've said that the charge port will move to the rear driver's side like Tesla. Which will further break RAN, since no RAN location expects that corner. At least rear passenger you can back into the non-towing stalls and the dispenser will be in the correct spot.
no, that $45k is WITHOUT the tax credit. they had to price it that way to compete with model y. realistically, i think it'll be probably be $49k base model.
This at 50k or a Mazda cx-50 at 28k. Keep making electric cars for the rich, if you can't design a electric car that normal people would be keen of purchasing.
3:10 - This is the "hot hatch off-roader" version R3X. They will also have a "base model" R3 (no X) that will be less "extreme", with smaller wheels/tires/flares. Of note, Rivian bought the EV trip planner "A Better Route Planner" last year, and they just added the R2, R3, and R3X as "beta" to ABRP. They claim the base R3 will get over 4.5 miles per kWh at 65 MPH! (Which would make the R3 the most efficient "not a motorcycle" ever according to the EPA.)
Meh. Not really interested in something that might come in 2027. This is like when Hollywood puts out movie trailers for movies that are over a year away. By the time it comes out, it'll be different and we will have forgotten all about it.

It’s gorgeous! I love it but hate the giant glass roof, should be a regular moon roof or two smaller portions and also put pillars on the doors. I absolutely loathe pillar-less doors. Other than that it’s a perfect ev crossover for those who don’t want a sedan or a full size/bigger suv.
Build the R3x NOW and make it afforable. Doesn't even have to be tri motor. 0-60 in 3 seconds isn't hot hatch it's Hyper hatch. Make it 5 seconds that is fast enough for almost every person. Actually most drivers can't even handle that. It looks amazing both inside and out. If it was available I would get one!

R3X: Reinventing the Lada Niva… in the best way possible😊
If this was released q3-q4 2025 it would rock the market. Though I get that their currently unable to produce as much vehicles hopefully it doesnt look dated by the time its released. Although solid state is ramping up so I guess that's a plus when its released. Maybe they take the gamble and release this the same time as the R2.
Rivian, you had me at styling cues from the Delta Integrale and frameless doors.
That R3x looks pretty cool. To me it looks retro futuristic. The shape reminds me of a 90's Golf or GTI.
The R3X will be my first EV. I’ll try my best to be patient. Love this design!
I get the impression that RJ will be head of Scout by 2028.
That's the one i want. Looks like my bulldogs.
At least rear passenger you can back into the non-towing stalls and the dispenser will be in the correct spot.
their $50k price was never realistic and that included the $7500 subsidy which is goners
no, that $45k is WITHOUT the tax credit. they had to price it that way to compete with model y. realistically, i think it'll be probably be $49k base model.
The US tax credit isn't gone yet, and the availability of subsidies several years away is unknown.
I'd love an r3x
R3X would be a great fit for so many people assuming a it’s priced right
The Omni GLH reborn as an EV, I love it
Love it too
Can’t wait for this to hit the market
Meh. Not really interested in something that might come in 2027. This is like when Hollywood puts out movie trailers for movies that are over a year away. By the time it comes out, it'll be different and we will have forgotten all about it.
And, they aren't even saying that.
It’s stupid for them to push this back when not one cares about the R2
I couldn't love the R3 more! ❤❤❤ it reminds me so much of a 1st gen Rabbit
Rivian please make a R2T or R3T! I want a smaller and cheaper truck than the R1T.
The R3 delivered with actual door handles would be my ideal vehicle. I do not personally think Rivian will survive long enough to build it though.
The R3X is a nice size vehicle. I don't go off road, or live in a region with snow, so I would switch out the tires. I'll take mine in dark blue please.
If you don't go off road, the regular R3 may be a better option, unless you want to be a poser like many Jeep owners 😊
@@jamespaul2587Yeah, the R3X is just the flagship "Rally" model. They really should have a loaded R3 to show people what you'll get with a "normal" model as well
@@jamespaul2587 If the regular R3 has the triple motor option, and comes fully loaded, Sure.
I love the r3x, when it comes out or maybe a couple years after when some used ones are on the market I plan on getting in
That new GLH is pretty neat!
4:25 i understand its just a concept/super early pre-production car, but that sound of that door being shut was scary. Lol. Reminded me of an old 1980s VW Rabbit door being shut. 😅
Not a fan of rivian as an investment.. But give them some slack. But yes that was old school... Couple pushes to really close it.
The R3X is something I really want to see built!
wow - when I originally saw the R3x I too thought of Lancia or other classic hot hatches from Europe. But seeing it here....damn it's tall! kinda kills the vibe to make it an crossover/suv size thing. I still like it, but not nearly as much as when I thought it was going to be a car.
I have R2 and Scout Truck Reservation. Both scheduled for 2026 delivery starts, I look forward to one of them taking my money 😂.
R2 is absolutely the perfect size. For $45k I’m definitely a buyer.
"Take my money" phrase anymore is over used. At this point, the prices of new vehicles are so expensive the phrase needs to be "Take my house" for a down payment. 🙄
The R2 display showed 3.1 miles/ kwh. I wonder if that's accurate... I average 2.1 in my R1t.
The glare in these new unshaded dash boards, drives me crazy!
Hey Great! A four door, electric AMC Gremlin. I think it will be as much a success for Rivian as it was for American Motors.
It's time to take the R3 back to the drawing board.
The R2 however looks fantastic and I truly believe it will be a hit.
Everyone commenting about this looking like late 70s/80s crappy American economy cars needs to broaden the their automotive horizons. The R3X looks like European Rally cars from the late 80s/90s (specifically the Lancia Delta), and that is the image Rivian is going for with this model.
@@charlesbolton8471that comparison doesn't make it look any better😂.
Hopefully this is the product to turn Rivian big because they need to be profitable. Love the vehicle though.
