I think that with the millennials we're seeing a shift away from consumerism and a debt-based lifestyle.

So true. I have lived without a car for over 13 years and was able to find three jobs near my home. I walked or biked everywhere. No insurance. No oil changes or maintenance. No stress from peeling paint, squeaky brakes, whatevz. And I don't have any debt other than rent, electric and phone. Life is pretty good. Even if I only worked part time I could save, invest and travel.
Oh yes, I also have quit buying lots of products people consider necessities and I'm not hurting for it.
Same man, i sold my car to because of that. Isn't worth for all the things you have to worry all of that. I just combine commute and walk to get to work.
I'm surprised you can pay rent with a part time considering how high rent is...

27 no debt. They keep trying. The whole system is designed to cause me to go into debt. That's why bills are always calculated to most of your paycheck so that you're forced to use credit to get a couch or a tv. if your someone who wants a lot of things.

Absolutely do not get into the debt trap, that includes car payments and a mortgage. There is NO BETTER FEELING than getting your paycheck and DOING WHATEVER THE HECK YOU WANT WITH IT. I travel around the country visiting all the Major League Baseball stadiums......and I can do it without worrying about paying for a stupid debt....I’m having a BAST! 😁😁😁

No debt = no worries. I have been saving for a early retirement for decades!

I am a naturally frugal guy...but I used to be in that debt trap. I made a concerted effort to fight my way out to debt freedom. I feel this vlog...I make good money and I am able to save a whole paycheck each month. I look at those that think they are "winning" by having a house, car, designer clothes expensive clothes that are all leveraged with a grin, knowing my money has actual power. My boss told me he wished that they would send all of the homeless people to an island so we wouldn't have to deal with them. I thought to myself I wished they would send all the REALLY RICH people to an island under one caveat, they can't take any of their workers. The island would crumble, and why, because WE'RE making them all the money. I mean who's gonna tell another rich person to go and do something, there would be a BIG F -YOU, and why would we need them anyways. I mean we can obvious do the work. It may take some time for them to catch on, but MAYBE they would see just how valuable we are and actually give a $hit...

Tim why do people always say they are homeowners when they finally get approved for the home; it’s a 15-30 plus battle until you pay that home off. Then I’m seeing where on social media people are praising that they are new homeowners…traps!!

It’s definitely programming. I see how people make debt and stress really as a part of their identity. And if u say anything to suggest a way out, you’re looked at like aww she doesn’t understand the real world lol.
I think it’s about finding a balance and being able to think for yourself.
Most people use credits cards if they don’t have money but I use credit cards only if I have money and get my points, rewards etc and then in 2 days pay it off. Also to be debt free is to kill your desires, save for what you really want, freedom is way too important to me than desiring things that I have no money for and get in debt for.
What advice would you give? I never got one because of all the scares I heared about them in my early 20's

You're right. People work through the best years of their lives. So they can accumulate stuff they think they need. It's never ending. The stuff has an expiration date. So they need to work to replace the stuff with new stuff.
Then they die and their worthless, pill Poppin drug using kids fight over it.....
Then of of course those items become outdated.. look how many jobs require an email or smartphone

Thank God I'm debt free, and I'm very happy for it. I have a friend who have a lot of debt, and he now call me lucky.
the problem with credit is that you never worked for it. the money is just there. when you buy something with it, it seems like you got it free. but then you have a magical bill? all very strange. credit can be a life saver if you need it for emergency surgery or such an expense but 99% of the time, desire less, and you will have less stress, and far greater peace of mind.
It took me eight years to become debtfree. I pray I stay this way. Debt causes stress and health problems. I'm in the throws of reversing typectwo diabetes from stress eating.
I know a guy who has a credit card but addicted to weed and is already spending his paycheck 400$ on weed, then he can't pay rent, so he is doing those shark loans to pay rent, but he just got a new car, now he has that to pay too. Hates his job. But were told to use credit responsibly to build merit. I think living without credit is just as much merit.
I agree! Living without credit is the real merit. Credit score is just a fake number that helps others to control you.
I´m almost 50 and I have never used a credit card, always refused to own one. My income is small, but I have savings. If my car brokes or my dog gets sick, I know I can afford those from my bank account. The only bank loan I have is for the house and the house was cheap.
More expensive clothes look and feel better. Most people hate mortgages but what choice do they have. The smartest and richest people I know have mortgages.
Avoided college in my 20's because fuck going into debt for something i didnt know what i want to go for. Now at 30 still no major debts but bills, rent, grocery. If i cant afford it im outta there.

When you tell the dealership that you're paying cash for a vehicle instead of financing, loan, they get angry because they can't get the extra interest money. Debt is a money maker for them.

I dare any woman to look at five or six credit card ads -most of them have a picture of a young woman holding the credit card by her face and smirking with total confidence and yet- women hold most of the credit card debt in USA
It's scary when you think how much people are in debt just to have what they want. But you don't have any credit cards or anything related to that. It's so tempting to have a credit card. Now people use not a credit card but a set of credit cards. Not one but 10-20. Why not. My worst error was to pay off my credit card and take another one later. Like I was ready for that. Now I receive a flyer it goes automatically to the recycling box. I don't care I don't want to know. I want freedom. It has been 3 years I don't have any. It's so awesome! Credit card is not the correct way to have more money.

We’ve been programmed since birth, yes! Debt is just a fraction of the equation.
There are two types of programming natural programming and social programming
Natural programming includes all our animalistic nature like survival instinct, reproduction, all other emotions.
Social includes all the things the society thought what is good and bad.
I was lucky, my parents taught me to never get in debt.
My parents taught me good money management practices too. We were the lucky ones.

Debt in third world country is Sacco loans,bank loans, mobile money loans to buy furniture, take kids to school, buy land,build homes....go back to school. I have never liked the idea of debt. If I can't pay for it with what I have it's living above my means. Right now I can walk to work daily and public means of transport is accessible and very affordable. Why then do I need a car. I just don't need it right now. Actually here it's like most people believe you can't develop or be financially independent without having acquired some debt at some point
Thought about it in almost the exact same way you presented in the vid. Inception. You gotta wonder... that next car someone wants to buy... do they really want it or was it a series of ads/programming over the course of years/decades that pushed them to that decision? And how many branches of life paths/choices were altered along the way to culminate to that one debt purchase? It's also interesting how various debt purchases become a "i can't do that" anchor. So many people I've heard respond to travel with... "I'd love to do something like that, BUT, i have a mortgage." The trap is so deeply programmed that their almost not even conscious of the indentured servitude in which they live.

You're missing the psychology behind it credit cards train you to be paycheck to paycheck giving you the false sense of having money people who have credit cards tend to have smaller savings accounts and the minute you're down on your luck the bank will say you have a credit card use it. Remember covid-19 how the bank stop giving out loans and people ended up using their credit cards no one's talking about how many people filed chapter 7 bankruptcy there was a lot of people doing what you were doing before covid and when the economy is down they turn those little numbers up look at how many people file bankruptcy during covid millions
And it's sort of a form of insanity for someone to think they can get something without the means.

Great video. Unfortunately most cannot hear you because most are in debt. Saving minus debt equals the amount of money you really have. I am debt free so I can hear and understand everything you're saying. Use basic math on your finances and you'll forever be debt free. Along with Dave Ramsey, I follow the #SavingsMinusDebt community. It is always right because math doesn't lie.

Idea..why not pay 100% cash for a house? Find a low cost of living area ( some parts of Louisiana, Georgia, Oklahoma, mississippi, Texas) and buy a house there. Employ this strategy along with being debt free. Who says you HAVE TO PLAY the bank's mortgage game. Who wants to pay 3x the purchase price for a house after you have paid out a 30 year mortgage.
that or just buy some small piece of land and build the home a step at a time yourself or get some cheap laborers like all of those contractors. that's the cheapest and most frugal way to do it. or just build a tiny house on that land and just live there. very cheap and good enough if you really wanna save. i live in brooklyn new york where this is impossible as land is millions of dollars just for an empty space.
