That thumbnail is heresy! CDPR is the most humble low buget indie dev creators of the most popular hidden gem Witcher 3!

Indeed, an the gaming community has been so supportive of them, rewarding their attempts at selling everyone a broken game with missing features, after a long crunch filled development cycle, with praise as this tiny indie crew manages to make their game playable. Truly a once in a life time redemption story with more to come.

@Anonymouthful It was all worth it. All that lost time with families, gained stress, depression, and overall delcine of quality of life resulted in the best title in the "Skyrim with guns" genre.

@@Anonymouthful CD Projekt Red will go bankrupt soon anyways because almost everyone refunded Cyberpunk

@@exysa2798 I wish but the truth of the matter is Cyberpunk made tons of money and conitnues making tons of money. What ever CDPR makes next will also make tons of money because people never learn.

Your script writing for these videos is really excellent, and your presentation of the script through your videos is top notch as well. Thoroughly enjoy listening to you speak. Your humor hits right at home with me too. Keep going, if you aren't already, you could end up in games journalism no problem.

I have to agree with you. I mean, I have spent like 300 hundred hours playing Kenshi in the last weeks and can't stop. There is so much to do, whereas I tried playing some AAA games and I got bored and just wanted to play Kenshi.
    I really enjoy the video.
pd: sorry for my grammar, i dont usually speak this language

Right? These indie games are so expansive now they can provide the kind of playtime, even more, that AAA used to. Thanks for watching :)

Hate to break it to ya, but it all went downhill far before 2020 man. Ever since Triple-A developers lost interest in keeping communication to their customers, such as when COD IF and AW got released. THAT is when Triple-A started to steer down a cliff.
Gone are the days of cosmetics that were simply 2 bucks for a bunch of things and actual DLC packs rather than the pathetic battle passes these days. I have a lot to say about my once beloved franchises and Triple-A games in general, but I will not. The easiest thing to say is that Indie Studios are the place to be, but sadly the whales supporting bad Triple-A studios are suppressing many of the golden indie games. And that's a shame, hence why I am at least one of the people ditching Triple-A poop and spending my money on well crafted indie-titles.
I hope everyone will do the same.

God I can't wait till we can get back too small teams making focused games without overinflated billion dollar budgets that try to appeal to everyone. Remember the creative games we got on PS2? Psi-Ops, The Suffering, Silent Hill 2-4, Darkwatch, Project Eden, Second Sight, Manhunt. Damn I miss those days!

It's not entirely reliable trying to hear a name.

I wouldn’t say AAA games are dying, mainly because. There are tons that will get it, despite getting ripped off right to their faces. Hell, Pokémon has been doing it since the day it came out.
Selling multiple versions, where you are unable to complete it without linking to someone else or pushing out money for another game and console.
Hell, even their crappy SV sold I think 23.5M copies. Funny enough, Palworld sold 25M copies, and under a more insane condition. Last I heard, they literally went all or nothing. If the game did not succeed, they’ve have gone bankrupt.
A little too insane, but well it worked. Gotta give them props for that, and it genuinely looks like a fun experience.
When it comes to the Indie vs AAA, a common argument is made. Where there are a lot more bad Indie games than AAA, which is true. However, this other point is ignored.
The length of time it takes for an AAA game to release vs how many Indies comes out. AAA takes on a much larger risk due to the time, where you are getting less releases and a higher chance for that release to be something bad.
Whereas, while there are a lot of bad Indies, there are so many that you’d likely not notice. As a result, the good ones, which there are a lot ends up sticking.
Not sure about others, but I’d take 10 indies that I am much more likely to like. Than 1 AAA game that I am much more likely to dislike.
As for Indies, I got a ton that I like.
    1. Chrono Ark
    -> My favorite so far.
    2. Matches Forest.
    3. Little Witch Nobeta.
    4. Crosscode.
    5. Phantom Rose Scarlet/Sapphire.
    6. Frontier Hunter series.
    7. Deemo Reborn.
    8. Eternal Senia/Hydrangea
    9. Noel the Mortal Fate
    10. Peacemaker series.
    11. TEVI.
    12. Momodora series/Minoria.
    13. Faraway Qualia.
    14. Nights of Azure.
--> Pretty much one of my all time favorites.
    15. Witch Spring series.
    16. Yohane the Parhelion -Blaze in the Deep Blue.
    17. Yohane the Parhelion -Numazu in the Mirage.
    18. Doll Explorer.
    19. Plushie from the Sky.
    20. Shantae series.
    21. Nexomon series.
    Etc.
    It goes on and on.
In the span of time it takes for 1 AAA game to come out, I can already play like 10 Indies. And while not all might be a hit, given my track record. I like most that I play. What is listed here are amongst my favorites.

The vast majority of all media is worthless garbage, people really should stop talking about indie VS AAA and go “this shit sucks, this shit doesn’t”,
I really doubt most people consider DOOM Eternal bad, and ain’t no one saying that the Banana Steam game was good, games shouldn’t be categorized into “budget”, only by quality, and the vast majority of Triple A games will be mid whilst the vast majority of indie is just Unity garbage…

The idea of continued to update the same cheap game for years without monetization is just toxic relationship imo. IF your game is already completed like how stardew valley updated all the promised features. Then you don't need to continued update the game. It'd even be better if all the promised features already included at launch, otherwise you should release as early access. The subsequence updates would only be there to fix bugs instead of trying to expand the game. While it's good for players whom got more stuffs for free, it's bad for both devs and players in the long run. What's the point in working if you don't get salary? That's the same idea. Despite the love for game development myself, I set the line that once I'm done with the game, it's done. I'll continued to the next project and only fix fatal bugs. Players might disagreed for now, many indie devs might disagreed with me. But it's better for us to continued with our future instead of trying to make the masterpiece. Once you baked the clay, you shouldn't reshape it anymore. Players and gamedevs must have healthy relationship. We serve decent game with full promised features and minimize the fatal bugs. The players pay for the game and only expecting the devs to fix fatal bugs. IF you want more than this, you're looking into the more predatory model like DLC or live service. What if devs give free updates? Now who's the predator? It's the players right? Sure players don't do anything to harm the devs, but the act itself is harming the devs. At the end instead of getting new decent games which could be much better than the previous one, they stuck with the same old game that only update a bit here and there. There are so many indie devs whom living in this kind of toxic relationship. There are quite a lot of players whom got spoiled by this thankless job that won't give you enough money to continued. We just need to draw the clear line so we have healthy relationship. Also some indie games which have AAA qualities are worth paying for $70. They're called indie games because of the low budget and small team nature, while some people still misunderstood and some people exploit this part to market their games.
