Hello, in this post we'll gonna learn about numbers in Mandarin Chinese. 1. One = Yī, the pronounciation of this word is similar to word "E". 2. Two = Èr, imagine you're a pirate and say "AR". 3. Three = Sān, it sound similar to word "Sun". 4. Four = Sì, it starts off like "Se" in "Snake" but with your tongue touching the bottom of your lower teeth. 5. Five = Wû 6. Six = Liù, it sound similar to the lion in the zodiac which is Leo but spoken quikly. 7. Seven =Qī, note that the Q sound in Chinese makes a "Chi" sound, similar to when you say "Cheese" but your tongue starts off at the roof of your mouth. 8. Eight = Bā. 9. Nine = Jiû, it's like pronouncing "Geo" in "Geographic". 10. Ten = Shí, to pronounce this, just simply say "Shh". 11. Zero = Líng.

I am using Doulingo in conjunction with your videos to begin to learn Mandarin. Your videos are helping clarify what the app does not. Thank you. Also focusing on the tones is helping me better understand the nuances of the meows of my cat. Im trying to understand him, and i do most of the time but sometimes i cant and he gets frustrated and sad sometimes when he cant get his point across. He deserves to be understood. As we dream of going to the stars and that "1st Contact" moment, I realize that if we cant understand our own pets or ANYTHING else on this planet that isnt human HOW are we gonna figure out what some monkey-fish-bird-tree says when we drop down on their planet in a column of fire and say "hi". Language is so vitally important to all sentient life, and we humans have trouble understanding and HEARING each other. Thank You again for your instructions!

I've been learning mandarin thru an app. But I find it hard on how to pronounce bā. Do you read it as "pa" or "ba"?
Its between pa and ba, without any second thought, so it is a mix between both.
It's "ba" as in "batch".
