I’m 72 years old and I was a teenager and this was played on my radio in the the 70s. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2000 after a 30 year career. This makes me feel like a teenager all over again.👍🇺🇸 Great song!!!!

I was 13 years old when this came out and it is STILL one of my favourites. A song about a civil war (some say Vietnam) American soldier who has served his military time and now can go home. A timeless subject. Great lyrics , musical presentation. Home - family, friends, peace & quiet. What a song!
@@user-iw8km2no5e The inspiration for the song came from the American civil war and a soldier going home after it had ended. But I see your point, it could be applied to any war or nationality.
I was born in 70 but thanks to my dad this song was a huge part of my childhood. I've bought the Jeff Christie/outer limits solo album and it's fantastic. Thanks for the music Jeff Christie ✌
1970, along with 20 classmates travelling on a train bound for Frankfurt, this song improved our English overnight, as we sang this over and over about 100 times. I'll never forget that.
Amazing sound from just 3 musicians.Shows you that if it is good an authentic you don't need special effects and electronics to be able to make good music.Just pure raw talent.
It was actually recorded by The Tremeloes, with Jeff Christie's lead vocal added afterwards. None of the people in the video played an instrument on the recording.
You poor innocent dope! Read up on the story before making idiot posts like this. The musicians on the backing track are the Tremeloes, and only Jeff Christie singing after the tremeloes decided not to release it with their singer on it. There is also piano which must have been an overdub if not an extra session musician. They gave it to the drummer's brother to release and a band was created around him and Jeff the songwriter and singer to mime on the TV and in the video. That's why they took Jeff's surname for the band! Only their less successful followups were recorded by the band you see in the pictures

I was 8 then. We've had the best of the two worlds: the actual songs and musicians then and technologies to continue watching them today. Love and Good Music to dveryone forever😍
Exactly so Gusdocs 1 now in the 2022, just mimicking, talking to the beat, cussing . . . Now htis / these, these were goo - ood true & real songs! The most unfortunate is, these musical artists in the 70s were very under rated & unappreciated, unlike these what ever their name; oo - ooh, baby I love you 82 times, & getting an Emmy for that??! So acll me old fssioned, but these music / songs cant be ever replaced, no way no how!
I was very very young when this song was played on the radio, nonetheless, clicking around today on UA-cam has brought it back to me as a most unexpected and sweet treat ! What a great video you have posted here, too. Thank you for the music & the memories ! As I said, I was only 3 when this was "current," but my radio was my best friend & this happy tune was always a favorite when it would play. I hope you are doing well these days, Sir Jeff ! I have only listened to this about 7 times now !
i was in primary school when this was a hit. we had student teachers from manchester uni doing their teacher training in our school, which was in the poor part of whalley range. some of the women were near super models, full of enthusiasm and hope for the future.
It takes me back in Algiers when I was kid, a fellow student went on stage to play and sing the song perfectly. And we are some over 50 years now I live near Manchester. My favourite city is Leeds where Christie is from
My teenage times! The music was real, the singers were artists, the musicians were real skilled performers. I loved your songs, Jeff Christie. This is unforgettable time.

WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT THE DISC JOCKEY ON THE MIAMI, FL. RADIO STATION WFUN PLAYED 'YELLOW RIVER' 25 TIMES IN A ROW. BACK TO BACK.

This record brings back happy memories of growing up. Who is enjoying listening to it in 2022 ?
Love this song and the voices of this great band.
What I loved that song! And now I am older, and I love that song much more. These times were great! I miss them so! And especially Christie. I miss the 70... and the great music, for example "Yellow River" Boys, I love you and your great music! I really miss you!
My mum listened to 70's music so when we were driving home from a trip we used to listen this in the car. One of my favourites with sweet funny funny.
Great song. Great video.💙💚💖
HEY, TO ALL YOU GREAT MUSIC LOVERS, THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG'S FOR GOOD CHILD HOOD MEMORIES ANYONE FROM THE 70'S COULD HAVE !!! TOM ANTHONY SAYS ( LONG LIVE THE GOOD TIMES)

One of the best POP songs ever!
I'm 16 years old, I listen to a huge number of songs of those years, thanks to my dad for showing me the world of good music, it's a pity that now they don't try so hard when creating music ...
🙏😉
Love from Stockholm, Sweden 🇸🇪 ☀️ ❤️
I was 8 then. We've had the best of the two worlds: the actual songs and musicians then and technologies to continue watching them today. Love and Good Music to dveryone forever😍
Christie had one of the best songs of the early seventies with this ... Yellow River was brilliant.
The days when music was a pleasure to listen to not like today's torture
@poida Why are you on here listening to it then? Nothing better to do with your time?
@Dave Tempe : It has a memorable melody , hooks , and a feelgood factor. Today's 'Shite' is unmemorable snowflaky pap !!
@@littlemissblackdress7587 Stop being an ignoramus, he was giving his opinion, have you not got better things to do with your time?.
A Great Song from a Great Man. Thank you Jeff.
I play and sing this often! Thanks again! Tony!!!!
I was only 9 at the time but I remember this well, great song and thanks for posting this, smashing memories
Thanks for making this beautiful melody 👍🏼
this song was a SMASH hit here in Mexico, my parents used to dance to this song all day every day!! my mom still do haha
In Russia it was also a hit!
Bless her!
i was in primary school when this was a hit. we had student teachers from manchester uni doing their teacher training in our school, which was in the poor part of whalley range. some of the women were near super models, full of enthusiasm and hope for the future.
It takes me back in Algiers when I was kid, a fellow student went on stage to play and sing the song perfectly. And we are some over 50 years now I live near Manchester. My favourite city is Leeds where Christie is from
So nice, back to when I was 13. Good memories. Everything was great!
Hi Robyn
This is one of my favorite songs. If makes me feel great I dance and walk with the beats. I love the sweet memories it brings. Yeah!
