One of the great American songs of all time. A song that's loved and cherished all over the world. And it truly never rains there because it gets piped in from other states. As the pulitizer prize winning book showed. That is why the book was titled Cadillac desert, the capital is on Sacramento , and the federal reserve bank is in San Francisco.

One of the greatest Pop songs ever. It is timeless. And I love the melody, the lyrics and above all the voice of this talented young man from Gibraltar.( U.K. territory in Southern Spain ).
Been to many parts of the country and lived in many of them. I have to say it rains in all of them no matter how great they seem to be before you get there. Love this song.
@@michaelkoszowski3716 , Actually, when you think about it, this is song is not really about it raining anyplace. Rather, it is about someone who goes to California in pursuit of his dreams of making it big. However, when he is in California, he finds it is not at all what he was led to believe. Hence, he became disillusioned and wanted to go home.
Jimmy B others are correct here. You totally missed the point of this song. The title is sarcastic. It Never Rains in Southern California is part of the fake picture painted by Hollywood and many people about the beauty, glamor and weather, etc. It's ALL an illusion, just like the movies, the plastic surgery done to make people look "perfect" and all of the other hype about California and Hollywood. He didn't find it to be true because it ISN'T. His dreams were shattered and he realized the truth in the most painful way. This song resonates with many people because there are so many things in life we can be disillusioned by.
When I heard this song as a kid, I always wish to move there as it never rains in Southern California. A timeless classic. Love it. Brings back such good innocent memories.
Albert, when I was a kid,.. My family in Tijuana we lessening your music, late 70's. We just live by the Beach. Good memories!... Thank You,.. for your music.

Thanks for everything Albert. You brought beauty and happiness (even with a sad song (Hey, that sounds like a great song title!)) into a lot of peoples lives.
When this song was popular and playing on Boston radio, I was a graduate student in a well known Cambridge, Massachusetts university. I was married, my wife and I had a little boy of about two years old. I was working part time (sometimes two jobs) and carrying a full academic program, and it was extremely difficult to make ends meet. Scholarships and loans did not cover personal living expenses. I had to pull out and accept the Master's degree with the anticipation of getting a full time job after graduation, stabilizing our financial situation, and returning for the doctorate. It never happened. I had to give priority to my family over my academic pursuits. The phrase in this song: "Will you tell the folks back home, I nearly made it?" always put a lump in my throat back then, and it still reminds me of a goal that I was not able to achieve.

@@isabelperaza89 Hallo du Unbekannte♡ auch mich hat dieses Lied ein Leben lang begleitet...Ich bin auch 62 Jahre alt. ALLES GUTE FÜR DICH! Ramona ( in der Nähe von Berlin)
I wasn't even 10 years old when this song came out. I found it middle-of-the-road like so many other songs at the time
As I got older I learned to appreciate it. Now that I'm old, I'm glad I have lived long enough to love this song
So well said! 💓
Beautiful ...
We're from the same era. I loved this song when I was ten & still do. I guess I'm in a time warp!
I was a teenager then. I loved it then i love it even more now. Best years in the planets existance. Then, was when America was great. Not now.
One of the CLASSIC "'70s Memories"!
I remember singing along this lyric when I was 13 years old and I didn’t even spoke English but I sure took the effort to pronounce each word as close as I could. Love this song !!!!!
sofia fahrenkrog I was still in the Army when this came out. Just came to mind. It’s bringing back memories.
Sofia I was a young child but did like the easy going lyrics.
Congratulations Sofia
And it truly never rains there because it gets piped in from other states. As the pulitizer prize winning book showed. That is why the book was titled Cadillac desert, the capital is on Sacramento , and the federal reserve bank is in San Francisco.
My friend sofia i love this song to went i heard it again in 1971 went i came back to canada from the netherlands i could not speak that much of english because i lived in the netherlands for 1 yr with family on my father side of the family because i got into trouble with my second stepfather too
I am listening in 2020. I like this song. I was 14 years old. Love from Norway.

@M Suzuki greeting from wales uk
@M Suzuki good luck to you and your family xx
@M Suzuki Very sad to hear about all the trouble with your weather hope you and your loved ones are safe Good night to you xx
Seeing his appearance and hearing his voice really reminds me of the time when I was young with him, thank you
Haven't heard this for a long long time. Oh, how it reminds me of my youth growing up in Southern California. It was so much different back then, so much different. Gonna be 60 in a couple years...God I miss those days. At my age, you do a lot of harking back, especially considering the state of the world right now.
Better "over the hill" than under it, bro. I'll be 60 in January. But birthdays are a gift denied to many. 😎
I can relate. Born 69’👍
Did it ever rain?
I been singing this song since I have memories 👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍
Love Albert Hammond! So talented and versatile! His Spanish songs are just as good and loved.
Man , i was 37 years old when i found out albert was british . I heard all his spanish song but not this one . This guy is so talented . Amazing
Yessss was successful in both languages😎♥️♥️♥️
I believe that Albert was born in Gibratar.
He is from my home town of Gibraltar and btw we are bi-lingual ie we can speak and think in this case in english and spanish. Plus his parents and my parents knew each other going back to WW2
He was the best in BOTH worlds, Spanish and English worlds!!!
I used to listen to his songs as a child!!!
This is when things started getting really mellow. Lot of great soft rock from about 1972 to 1978.
UA-cam is like a time machine right now this song takes me back to my teenage days
A beautiful song , song by a great singer with a stunning voice just lovey I’m so please at 74 I can appreciate such things just great to go to sleep with music and lyrics like these in my head and heart I hope you find the truth some day soon regards Mike sol’s

Who else is still listening to this beautiful song now in 2024?
Why do ask stupid Qs like this other than to get clicks?
Down vote,
The years slid past, 72years old me
Me! I’ll do my version soon and put it on UA-cam!

Me , from Jordan.
70’s but heard it a lot in my childhood in the 90’s when my parents were listening to their vinyls! I love it, so nostalgic 🙂
There were the beautiful days. We were so beautiful!😂
Or we oo
He is the best. 15 years old when i first listened to his voice. Fell in love❤. Never care for rock music. His voice is soothing. Awesome. Thanks!❤❤❤❤
Huy ! What a song 🥰🎵
I 🩷California
I was there this spring, when everything was covered in flowers and the weather was perfect for enjoying the beaches and going out into the countryside and mountains. I miss you California 🥹🌈💜🌻🌺🌼🌸

This song instantly zooms me back to 1973.
A timeless classic....
Me too...1973 was a pretty nice place to be.

Stumbled upon this song quite by accident, it's before my generation but i love the lyrics and generally it's a lovely song, thank you ♥️

The melody of this song is truly beautiful. I danced this song many times and still do. Reminds me when I went to California many, many years ago. I was in Los Angeles when California was a beautiful state to visit. Love this song, it is very pretty indeed.
Its nice to be able to hear every word sung so clearly don't seem to get that these days. Guess I'm showing my age !!!
One of the best songs ever. ❤️
100% Agree 🎼

One of the greatest Pop songs ever. It is timeless. And I love the melody, the lyrics and above all the voice of this talented young man from Gibraltar.( U.K. territory in Southern Spain ).
What a genius to write a song like this it's timeless
This dude was criminally underrated!
Been to many parts of the country and lived in many of them. I have to say it rains in all of them no matter how great they seem to be before you get there. Love this song.
Interesting observation . 👍
@@williamlandolfi7858 ..yeah , especially when that mortgage bill came in . 😖
You missed the point brother, he sings about the beautiful picture they paint about Hollywood to young aspiring actors and actresses
Another one of those great 70's songs. The greatest decade in rockn roll.
When I heard this song as a kid, I always wish to move there as it never rains in Southern California. A timeless classic. Love it. Brings back such good innocent memories.
I was 9 years old when this came out , definitely remember hearing this on the radio in NYC .
I was five when it came out & I remember listening to the 45. It's a great song!
👍👏👏👏✌️🎹🎶🎼🎵🎤🎸🎺🎶🎼🎵🇲🇽
I grew up with this song in Germany. Very fond memorys.
My mom introduced me to this song when I was little, I enjoyed it ever since
songs had meaning,if you like the 70s tunes, you will just do fine in life...
A song to fight for life for everyone who comes to seek luck in America. The song is very beautiful.
泣ける歌です・・華やかな場所を求めても、どこへ行ったっていい事ばっかりじゃない。
Fell in love with you and this song back in the 70s when I was a teen 😊😊❤️❤️❤️❤️
Albert, when I was a kid,.. My family in Tijuana we lessening your music, late 70's. We just live by the Beach. Good memories!... Thank You,.. for your music.
I love Tijuana. I miss it so much.
Nostalgic Albert Hammond videos are rare and good
I lived in Los Angeles for two years and I never forget what a great place to live it was !!!
Such a talented man , deserves more credit for his singing and writing of so many hit songs sung by other artists 🌹❤️⚽️
The voice of the singer is outstanding, considering it is real, and the music backing him is good too, this is one of those old songs I still like to listen to.
I totally agree with you.....
Havaaaad.
I'm from Roxbury. I live in Southie now
@@johnmcnally5307 We lived in Brighton, down the street from St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Boston College. During slippery snowy weather, we could just sit on the front steps of the building and watch cars slide down towards Washington Street, if the drivers wouldn't slow down beforehand.
I am sorry for your disappointment, but I hope you can get some contentment from the fact that you out your family first
Thank you for this song,it reminds me that Mama Mary always loves me,she helped me pray to God that my wishes are all granted esp.for our health, financial,& spiritual problems,Thank u very much Mama Mary.
A song that reached number five on Billboard pop singles chart in 1972 Albert's biggest hit.
