  • WINNER WINNER ESPRESSO FOR DINNER!
Congrats! @jow84it41 You have 7 days to contact me. Please head to Instagram and DM me. / rydejeavons
I'm giving away this Flair 58 electric manual espresso machine.
To be in the chance to win all you need to do is:
    Like this video
    Subscribe to the channel
Leave a comment below telling me why you'd like this machine and what characteristic/flavours of coffee are your favourite.
As I reach 10k subs I'll choose a winner and send this Flair 58 electric signed by me to them wherever they are in the world.
Also... I'll send them some of my coffee from my roasting company coffeebeansdelivered.com.au that I've chosen to closely match the winning persons flavours!
Stay tuned for the draw after I reach 10ksubs ( by the end of Dec 2023).
After spending a lot of time using the Flair Signature and getting used to the idiosyncrasies of the design, I really wondered if the extra ~$300 was worth it. After all, it doesn't steam milk yet so other than a heated 58mm group head, there wasnt too much to be excited for. However, there is so much more to the 58 than you first expect and I loved playing around with this machine, testing out all the different extraction styles and techniques.
I have to say I think I'm converted now!
Let me know what you think

I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently on each farm, in each region, and in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors and or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.

New subscriber here Ryde, I’m enjoying your content. For the past 30 years I’ve been gaggia, rancilio breville, switched over to manual espresso and hand grinder about a month ago. For me the concept of manual is no noise. It’s a silent process, and that my friend takes coffee to a new level of appreciation. when I want a flat white I use a sunbeam milk frother. I totally see the value in a flair 58

It’s definitely worth it!!! Just got it a couple of days ago, so fun to play with. The workflow is so much better compared to Flair Pro 2 which I used to owned for awhile. Although I already have my Quickmill Rubino, I still think 58+ a great addition. 🎉

I have a great machine already, but I'd love to win this to give to my son-in-law. He always has a coffee when he visits, no matter the time of day, and I'd like him to be able to return the favour when I visit him and my daughter :) I like a coffee that is medium to dark roast, with notes of Christmas pudding.

It's about the space and "portability" for me while allowing me to still have espresso quality cups. I mean towards medium/dark roasts that highlight chocolate blends. I used to get fruit forward beans but wifey doesn't care for them much.

I own a Flair Pro 2 and I agree with you … celebrating the coffee making process with a manual machine is a beautiful way to start the day. I also enjoy playing around with the pressure profile to get different extraction of the coffee. I would love to upgrade to the Flair 58 but no spare money for it right now. This would be a great opportunity to step up the game and to make the morning experience even better! All the best!!!!

Dear Ryde, really enjoy your videos very real and interestingly and also I love them because they're Australian. As far as coffee goes I enjoyI light roast espresso from high altitude beans that make my palate feel like a prancing horse and not a sluggish chocolate couch. Vibrant with a hint of a sweet acid finish that lingers for those few moments each morning I contemplate my day with four double ristrettos.

My preference in coffee is more oriented on the acidity of the coffee. My preferred origins are Costa Rica (Honey Thermic Fermentation), Brazil (Anaerobic) and so on. (For the flat whites, I also enjoy a nutty flavour).
I discovered my passion for coffee last year and I have been looking for all the tools that I need in order to experience a great coffee at home.
I would love to win the Flair 58 as I already planned on purchasing one in the first part of January next year.

I am leaning towards Flair and your video is the type of video I appreciate. I don't like starting at the end where alot of videos are focused on various profiles. There are very few coffee roasters in India who do justice with the right flavour profile for beans. I am here to learn and now am embarrassed to say I have been making espresso for over 25 years and don't really know how to explain the characteristics of coffee. I started in college before espresso was popular on a used $100 De'Longhi then learned I needed a burr grinder so I bought a used Krups. Next I discovered the aeropress, which appealed to me as an engineer. Then I enjoyed the 'lazy' world of Nespresso. I'm ready to make some real espresso and you have opened my eyes! Now to decide which grinder and espresso maker to get and learn how to recognize the coffee characteristics that I love. Since I'm from Florida and love citrus I believe that is one characteristic I love, but I enjoy deep flavors as well.
Thank you for all the time you put into these videos. I cannot 'espress' how much I have enjoyed them and have learned from them. ❤

I've just gotten into the world of specialty coffee a year ago and my go to would be anaerobic/wine processed coffees since I like those strong fruity acidic flavors. My parents have a home entry-level espresso machine that can make milk drinks but not for light roast, not even really for straight espresso. But since I'm really into lighter roast and always exploring new beans, I would love to have a lever espresso "machine" to try lighter roasts on. Also, the fact that you can do pressure profiling at a fraction of price of semi-automatic machines in the market is very appealing to me. Having the tactile feel of pulling a shot would add to the espresso making ritual, cause let's be honest, we love coffee AND we love the process of brewing it.

I’ve committed to the machine and the ritual and find the whole experience really rewarding. I still use the GCP for milk steaming or guests but almost exclusively use the F58 for myself. The machine requires accepting what it does well IMO rather than fighting what it does not. I was chasing the same notes and flavors I found in bolder red wines like barolos. To me that meant dark roasted almost waxy beans with nearly greasy residue. Now I’m settled into Onyx geometry for lighter roast and more fruit forward flavors as well as local roasters in my area to keep things interesting.

Yes, the light roasted coffees turn out amazing through the flair. You might be able to pump the darker roasts through at higher pressure to simulate the GCP, because its just straight on 9bar then off, it will take a bit to master the Flair to achieve that!

I would defiantly be interested in trying out the Flair 58 and seeing how it compares to my Breville Barista Express. I've heard manual lever machines are able to compete with semi-automatic machines that costs a lot more since you are able to control the pressure, flow, and temperature parameters. As for the characteristics/flavors of coffee, I enjoy sweet and smooth, with hints of chocolate, nuts, and fruit. I recently tried a Papua New Guinea Coffee and it was one of my favorites.

tbh, i really thank you if i won the GA cos i'm a home brewer who wanna upgrading my experience of espresso journey. i think flair 58 is worth to have cos it can produce a proper espresso and a tools that can make me enjoying my espresso shot. a manual brew equipment that proper to made some espresso for my daily kafein booster. between all of manual espresso maker, i think flair 58 is the best tools to buy cos flair 58 using 58mm portafilter which mean flair 58 similar with a proper espresso machine to extract a great espresso shot.

Like always your video is the best :) For espresso I love medium/dark roast with caramel and chocolate note with some secondary spices note like chicory :) But with aeropress I love light roast with red fruits note like cassis, black cherry and a little bit of acidity like cedar or red orange :)

It's been my only espresso machine for 2 years.
    Some good tips include:
Give it at least 20 minutes on with the portafilter in to get everything nice and hot.
I always have the heating element on high and use your kettle temp to control temp. So I brew Tall Dark and Handsome at 91 for my wife and the Ugandan has really come through at 97.
In regards to some of those issues you raised it appears newer models have fixed. I also wish they released their scale much sooner so i wouldn't have spent so much on an Acaia Lunar 😅
As for my favourite tastes I love fruits with great acidity, citrus, jammy, tropical.
Obviously Im not entering the comp. I already have one.

You can never have enough Flairs! 😂 Great tips. Thanks for sharing. Weirdly, I leave it on for 20+ minutes everytime, but thats not intentional as I acutally just forget I'm using it and then remember 20mins later. 😅

Flair 58 electric is pretty much an upgrade to 58x
It can do lighter roasted coffee much easier than most other flairs and machines for the same price aren't light roast espresso capable out of the box. Puck screen is absolute must in lever. The only reason is its just so much easier in cleaning it later on.
The trick to lighter roast is hotter water and pre-infusion

A major negative: The top rubber O ring in the plunger rubs against the wall, deforms and pops out. To order a new one you have to order the entire set which includes O rings of difference sizes which you don't need from Flair. Maybe it's just me, but that larger skinny rubber O ring doesn't last long. The set of O rings costs $12 plus shipping. Positive: once you gain experience it's an unbelievable machine that makes fantastic espresso. Machines like Gaggio Classic Pro don't even come close to the level of control you have with Flair. You really need to compare it to $3000+ espresso machines.

Dear coffee coach. Why does a lever machine require finer grinds? Thx for your answer.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  7 місяців тому

I believe its becasue of the way the preinfusion works on a lever vs semi automatic machine. You see, as you life the lever the first time, this dumps most of the water directly on the bed of coffee much faster than a regular machine. This saturates the coffee puck almost instantly and so when you start pulling down, the bed of coffee is already interrupted and allows the flow of water much more easily. By grinding finer, you keep the resistance much higher and this slows down the flow rate of the extraction.
