I bought a 4 lb of Lil Gun before the market went crazy for 85 bucks. Still have 2 lbs left. In my opinion it does have better velocity than H110 or W296. The biggest difference is the standard deviations are crazy high. Accuracy in both my 16” and my 7.5 marauder are better with H110. But for home defense, it won’t matter😊
Really good information. And pretty hot loads there. 2500 ft/sec is pretty awesome. Personally I have never used LilGun, but with those velocities I might start.
I’ve loaded H110 with the 110 gr Barnes “Black Tip” for years. It’s proven most accurate, most consistent, IME. 2400+ FPS from a 16” barrel is just fine for a 150 yd. Cartridge. 2200+ FPS from an 8” or 9” barrel is what I get for a “Truck gun” or Home Defense gun. I’ll add that Barnes bullet has always expanded in game, and is reasonably accurate.
That low velocity probably isn’t a chrono error. Lil gun seems to have a problem with consistency. I’ve seen variations of almost 200 fps between shots with 125 tnts.
I looked at that data on their website and the lil gun was the recommended powder. ??? They also said it was compressed, maybe that caused them to have more variation? You really need to review that rifle. I had the H&R version and regret selling it even if it did have a really heavy trigger.
I’m planning to do the video this Saturday. I wanted to give myself some time cause I think it’s gonna be a long one lol. I have several loads worked up for that video to test
I have the same gun for my kids deer rifle. I need to learn how to reload. I use the 220 BTHP at 50 yards and they cloverleaf. Then the 125 sst are 2 inches high at 50. Perfect for hunting. The can helps a lot. Try and save my kids ears since mine are shot. Lol
Have you tried Ramshot Enforcer? It's an amazing powder for magnum pistols, 45acp and 300BO. Stunningly consistent. And it makes 45acp a whole different beast without excessive pressure. For 45, I strongly recommend a 20 to 22lb recoil spring. I actually use Starline 45 Super brass, but it doesn't exceed standard 45acp pressure in standard brass.
Good info! I've reloaded H110 for 50 years and in Mag revolver with heavy bullets it can't be beat (as you stated). LilGun is my choice for 450 Bushmaster, H110 just doesn't work as well.
Have you done any reloading with the CFE BLK powder? I'm just looking to get started with reloading for the 300 Blackout and wonder how that will compare to the H110 and Lil' Gun powders.
I have. It doesn’t give the speed for supers that h110 and lilgun do but it does really well with subs, cycles well and has low pressures compared to others.
I shot one of the loads in my review of this rifle, which I have now finally done. I can’t remember which one without going through the video but I only shot at 50 yards in that video with intention of doing a full fledge accuracy video with the rifle later.
Although it’s not been this load with this bullet, I’ve shot and tested enough lil gun loads to know a variation that far off was very uncommon, but I still wanted to leave that part in there so you guys could pop that number in place of the other one and crunch the numbers if you wanted to.
@@thegundungeon no worries, I'll probably be giving Lil gun a try too. I'm just getting started on 300 blackout and have tried H110 and VV N110. I just know from experience in 6.5 PRC that the 143gr eldx in my rifle throws a flier 20% of the time regardless of powder type. I wouldn't have known that if I neglected the occasional flier in my 5 shot groups.
@@thegundungeon if I were looking for a new hunting cartridge today I'd probably go 7 PRC, but the 6.5 is incredibly efficient. Not the fastest 6.5 out there, but the best balance IMO.

The biggest thing I find that affects velocity on load data as compared to what i get out of my rifles/firearm is the test barrel and reciever.
Yeah I typically put little faith in the actual velocity listed on the data as they typically use the longest barrel known to man for that round.
Really good information. And pretty hot loads there. 2500 ft/sec is pretty awesome. Personally I have never used LilGun, but with those velocities I might start.
I think you’ll like it, it does well with the 125gr bullets too

With a single shot/bolt action or semi auto? Lots of variables with semi autos.

Good stuff. Appreciate the demo & data.
Thanks for watching!

I haven’t but I’ll give it a whirl. Not sure I’ve tried any ramshot powder
At least you are dressed for the weather…🥶🌨️❄️
If I am ever in more than just a light jacket, it’s below zero with high winds lol 😂

And H110 and Lil Gun are very close on the burn rate charts.
Yep, Alliant mp300 is the only powder between them on the load data dot com burn rate chart.

@@thegundungeon Thank you!
Thnx for the vid and your time! Love from Alaska!
Thats cool, but how is accuracy?
@@JohnVHLife h110 seems to give a little better groups, especially when you come back from max about a half grain or so.
@@thegundungeon Thats what I was going to try for powder. Will be out of my ruger american ranch
I prefer the lil gun also 😊
I’m with ya, I use lil gun in most of my magnum revolver rounds
Me too until I get to heavy for caliber
Good velocity , but does it group?
How many gr and which AOL, did you use in the lilgun charge?
for a 9" barrel which do you think would give a better result H110 or lilgun?
I used Barnes online data. Lilgun will give more velocity but higher standard deviations.
Did you test for Accuracy?

Lil gun is fast...but it's also inconsistent. You just chose not to use one of the shots in ur average
I do really enjoy your videos though either way. The only powder I'd like to see that you didnt shoot here is ramshot enforcer
Great video
Not sure it's truly fair to throw out the lil gun outlier without doing more samples to prove it really was ...
That’s why I left it in the video, let you guys use it to come to your own conclusion.
