I messed up this morning and lost it on one of my twin girls. The Holy Spirit convicted me a few moments later and made me apologize to her. I was driving to work and something said what if God your Father made you feel the way she probably felt in that moment. I felt so bad. I prayed and ask God to help me parent with love and grace. Not only did I hurt the twin who I yelled at but her sister too. This episode helped me to realize that our Heavenly Father corrects us but then He also opens His arms wide to us letting us know no matter what we did He still loves us 🥹

Watching this as I struggle through every day with my small kids. It’s just a lot sometimes and I don’t know how to handle it without getting into rage. This is such an important topic especially for those of us who grew up with bad role models.

What helps me is what I'm thinking about that causes me to yell. We are some where before we get to yelling and angry.

You have to shift your perspective as being a overwhelmed adult to being a child and thinking “if this was me as a child what would I need in this moment”

One day I got a severe beating by my father because I skipped school for a week. It didn't matter that two bullies were threatening to beat me up and I was trying to avoid them. my parents lacked empathy. I now have issues with lack of empathy. The beatings my parents gave me taught me a lesson: There's no need to worry if someone is being bullied. No person's sufferings matter. I'm not angry on the outside, but I care little about the plight of others.

very easy to fall into that. if no one showed me grace, why should I show others? if my own parents were impatient with me, why does anyone else deserve my patience? the only thing that can resolve that is God's grace towards us. because He has forgiveness the worst of the worse in us, we are commanded to forgive, love, be empathetic, etc. it's no longer tit for tat bc of Jesus, and that grace is absolutely extended to our children. you really have to know, believe, experience, meditate on God's love and truth so that it can take root in your heart and replace the bitterness/hardness of our hearts.

Hey I'm sorry you're going through that. Maybe try talking to them about it & tell them you feel afraid to go or that you want to avoid people who are threatening to hurt you. Is there a school counselor you can talk to? Try praying about it, ask God for guidance. Im sorry your parents lack empathy and maybe you can find a fav teacher or something too. God will make a way and things will get better. Ask for catch up work to do at home so your parents think and see you being responsible and accountable even though you skipped!! God bless you.

I re read your comment I think you were talking about past tense. & I thought it was you going through that now. But If that's the case, I would say pray before you speak to certain people, ask God to soften your heart & see whatyou need to change about yourself. We all hurt and pain we carry because ppl hurt us but that doesn't mean we should become like those who hurt us, we are called to better things & we don't have to hold that weight. you have to take care of yourself by being more gentle on yourself and others. You can feel Empathy again. Trust in the Lord

I think that’s alright, I would also say be led by the spirit/ sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so we have to remain calm and patient most times to do that. Your kid is going to mess up the same way we mess up and fall short from the standards of God. It can get frustrating but remember you will not be able to control everything and don’t drive yourself crazy when they are being disobedient

Yes, even framing it living in our home means your responsibilities are the following. Decide when to use natural consequences and when to use rewards.
