One of the things I do to keep myself from getting overwhelmed with the amount of backlog and unfinished projects is to be very systematic with how I tell my stories. I only scrapbook pictures from the month we’re currently in and then work backwards. So we’re in January 24 right now. I make sure I keep up with just this month then when there’s time I will work on January 2023, then January 2022, then January 2021… When February rolls around, I put my January stories away and work on Feb 2024, then Feb 2023, then Feb 2022… and on and on. This really keeps me from getting overwhelmed, keeps me enjoying the current season, and I know that if I don’t finish, these stories will roll around again next year!

Brilliant! I love this! Thank you so much for sharing! It does sound like it would capitalize on the "fun factor" of enjoying the seasonal aspect of our photos. And it gives you that unique perspective of looking back at the previous years too. Very cool. Thank you!!

I love your backlog system! I've always wanted to do a then and now album. Maybe I can add that too, it's just another photo printed, right?

Popping in to say as I've been working on my 2023 WITL while it's "Week in the Life Season" has made me so happy and I'm giving myself permission to tackle this year while still working on last year. Similar to your approach and if this works I'm totally doing it again next year! (a past / unfinished year + this year). Love this plan! Thank you for sharing!!

I’m sure I have crafting ADD. I get all excited about the different projects and jump from one to the other without actually finishing most of them 😂

I totally feel the same way!! Have so many past projects to tackle! I like Junell's approach and am trying it out for Week in the Life and loving it so far. (current month/season/project + tackle parts of the same month/project of last year). So far I'm really loving it!

Wow, I get overwhelmed by looking at this. If you want to set yourself up for succes (aka living life and document it without quilt), I would start with re-thinking and prioritizing your projects. Your passion project, I would put on my list. And 1 or 2 projects for 2024. Otherwise, they will be another project to catch up on next year. Let go of what feels like a must. You can always tell those stories from the perspective of looking back. "You are not behind, if you are living in the present.- Emine Pala-Pazan"...

Thanks Emine! I agree with you for sure!! lol I almost didn't add any past projects to the list and did as I looked through them. Am trying out Junell's approach of working on whatever month/ project it is and then parts of that same month a year ago / past project while the motivation for that project is up. Kinda loving it. Also love the idea to focus on the passion project. That would also give me the photos to work on for the other projects, which has been a huge obstacle for me. "Let go of what feels like a must."....I love that. Thank you!! I've always said "Live life first" and keeping the memory keeping projects simpler will help me live my story first + be present. Love that so much. Thank you!

I just found your channel and really enjoyed this video! You inspired me to make my own clipboard with an overview if what I want to accomplish in my memory keeping this year. Thank you!

I have the Epson Picturemate PM 400 printer (I think Ali uses this printer too). It is wonderful and I know I wouldn't get half as many photos in the pockets without it. Having a printer at home makes scrapbooking SO much easier. For reference, I find I can print approx. 100 4x6 prints per ink cartridge.

That's awesome! I agree..I was letting my frustration over my prints yellowing so fast keep me from making progress. (though I had not used Epson before.) These prints are beautiful and I'm just excited to be seeing the progress I'm making with it. Mine was about the same...around 100 prints and then I needed to change it. (just changed my first cartridge so hooray for getting photos printed and into projects!)

I’ve been looking for ways to use 4x4 prints. Looking forward to seeing what you do. Simple is great!

Thank you Linda! I found some page protectors on Scrapbook.com that have 4x4 pockets (Doodlebug design for 8x8 + the scrapbook.com ones for 12x12). In the past I've cut down the last column of the 12x12 ones to be able to use them in my 9x12 album. (I don't use 12x12 anymore but that could be a good option too.) I've been working on my photo workflow to get more of these 4x4 prints printed / boxes closed. It's definitely a work in progress! :)

I'm so happy to see you on here again. I love all of your ideas. I need to decide what projects to tackle this year. I love them all! But I'll be moving soon and I've packed up a lot of my craft room. So it makes it challenging. I love that old school scrapbook. I'm going to order one. My kids also just like photos and words, but love that I craft for me. I'm going to follow your lead on embracing imperfection. Lifelong perfectionist/procrastinator here, so I need that push. Looking forward to your next video!

Thank you!! Same here...last year I just started stamping in a notebook as a way to "just make something" and it has helped me start getting out of my perfectionism. But it's definitely a work in progress and I truly believe the only way out is to love ourselves through it. Big hugs and thank you so much for your support! We got this!

I ❤ my epson! I used to have same problem ordering prints. I told myself I couldn’t order Dec daily product unless I finished ‘23 dd, totally motivated me😅. Looking fwd to seeing more videos!☺️

Awesome!! Great to hear that the Epson works for you! I've definitely been loving it...totally so fun to see these photos printed "in real life" and it has definitely helped me make progress on these projects. And yes, I am in love with this year's Week in the Life release and told myself I had to make some solid progress on 2023 before I could order it...definitely helped motivate me! (hmmm...better get a plan in place b/c I know DD will be the same way!) :)
