Wow! The folk jackets look amazing, you've been super productive, and the tailoring work is obviously beautiful. You've earned Bragging Rights for sure! The crochet along flowers are so charming, I will challenge my knitters brain to make a sofa pillow so I can join the fun. Enjoy the Sun on your Mountain !

Bye! Bye! Pincushion. 😥😥 Maybe run a strong magnet over it to try and find hidden pins or needles. The new pincushion is lovely. Beautiful work Arne.
I finished my daffodils for Marie Curie and now trying to make a mistletoe Christmas wreath. It's a work in progress so making it up as I go along.
I think I will join you both on the crochet/knitting projects coming up.
See you both Sunday. Enjoy the sunshine!!! 😎😎🌞🌞👍👍👋👋👋❤

Most of the time I read through patterns first, because I'm looking for ways to shave off time from the process. When you are advanced like yourselves, you can probably cut a lot of corners that others can that are written out for all levels of sewists. The costumes are beautiful. You should take the pin cushion apart and reuse the innards and patch the material to a tiny quilt in the dollhouse. Pin cushions are adorable.

Your lack of snow worries me. Last year we had a similar winter and we ended up with so many wildfires all over the mountains and the prairies. I hope that doesn't happen there. Everyone here is so happy we got lots of snow this winter.
Your jackets look lovely and yes it is always good to read all the instructions ahead of time. Like with recipes you may want to change the order of preparation to suit your style and equipment.

Can't wait for the crochet videos. I intend to crochet a throw my sister's vacation home. As per reviews on books, products, hotels, I never look at them. As for the pin cushions, last year, as I was looking for something different to knit. I decided to knit pin cushions. So, I made approx. 20.(couldn't stop myself), knitted in the round using some motifs from your Christmas balls and Easter books. Love your tradition 2 Easter egg. Concerning the carrot, I can assure you that our wild white tail rabbit don't like them. We put some outside and they didn't eat it. They prefer grass. Ciao (will not be with you in Italy, cause I dont't have the energy to make such a travel, but my heart will be with you)

I think I will have to order Dolly's book too. She has co-authored with James Patterson, he is one of my favourite authors and has been writing crime novels since the mid 70's. He used to write most of his books alone but now he co-writes with others.

I agree about recommendations with a grain of salt. For years, my husband and I would listen to the advice of family members regarding restaurants. Time and time again we found ourselves sitting in a restaurant that we hated. After doing this for a few years - I guess we were slow - we would listen but make up out own minds. I also love the new pincushion, and now I want to make one for myself, too.

The basting on the jacket is pronounced with a long "a". I'm in NE Ohio, USA. In the kitchen you also baste meat to keep it moist.

  • @catnapper3923
    @catnapper3923 2 роки тому

Those folk costumes had better end up in a museum - they will be priceless after all the care, time and cost invested in them. And my! Won’t you look fine!
Baste rhymes with haste - and here’s the completely odd thing about English. “To baste” means to take long temporary stitches in a garment to hold it together - but it also means to pour drippings over roasting meat. So you’d have instructions to “baste the Thanksgiving turkey” every 1/2 hour.
Carry on, you two. I am a year behind, making your delicious 2021 Easter eggs. How do you get them so very “eggy-shaped?”
    You do everything so well.

Thank you for another enjoyable episode. I love your folk costumes and I am glad you survived all the little inconveniences of having to undo and redo.
One thing I wanted to mention, just to keep you informed. No big deal. The temporary sewing you call “basting” (as in lasting) is actually pronounced “baisting” ( as in wasting.)
I hope you don’t mind that I pointed this out to you.

Thanks for a great episode. I have 7 more Sit’n’Knit for a bit’s to catch up on! Love the idea of a KAL and I’m super excited that you are doing a few more knit block patterns. I’m still working on my Quarantine blocks/patches. I think by the time I finish it I will truly feel like I’ve moved on from the covid lockdown’s. There are heaps of community blocks I still want to knit too so I think it will be an ongoing project for “post-lockdown & covid time” for me. I’ll be adding in new designs too. Such a simple yet satisfying project that you started.

we learned the "read ALL the directions first" rule in 8th grade when a substitute teacher handed out a "quiz". with a page full of steps. The first step said "read all the directions first". But we all went to number two, and on down the list, answering the questions. When you got to the last direction, it said don't answer any of these questions. Almost 50 years later I remember that lesson!

Speaking of reviews, you guys would get a huge kick out of a book I have…..reviews of American national parks by visitors who were less than enthusiastic about them. “Bryce Canyon……..too orange. Too spiky.” “Saguaro National Park…..OK if you like cactus.” They don’t even like the tallgrass prairie. “Just grass. And bison.” And of course they complain that the wifi is terrible.

James Patterson is a highly published American novelist. He and Dolly Parton partnering seems to be in line with other pairings of unlikely co-author i.e. former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, partnered with mystery writer, Louise Penney. I think in such partnerships not only are the co-authors having a ball, but they also realize greater sales because they come from diverse industries, all of them expert in their respective fields.. What you say about reviews is SO TRUE. As an author, I've enjoyed lovely reviews, but there was one that slotted one of my books as "for women only." This was peculiar given that my books and columns tend to garner more male readers than women! I suspect that negative reviews of the Parton/Patterson books result mainly because Patterson fans want less Parton and Parton fans want less Patterson.

Love that piece of furniture behind you; a sideboard maybe and the doors that separate your living room from the dining room. So much character through your home - but what else would one expect from designers?💕🥰 the jackets are stunning, such beautiful work! The color of your brioche sweater, Arne, is a perfect color for you. It’s great how you both collect certain things and have a million interests; makes your Sit and Knit for a Bit worth its weight in gold. We have boxes here too, to exchange free books. Arne can you proudly wear your jacket on your upcoming cruises and trips! The pincushion would make a great project for the people on your trips to make. You could also add a piece of elastic so you can wear on your wrist when you need it. Small enough to travel with and great remembrance from trip. I had to laugh when Arne said he just had to buy a hard cover book of Dolly ....the soft cover would not cut it!

Your jackets look fabulous already and I like how complimentary you are about each other’s handiwork too. I love how you digress too, reminds me of myself lol! The new pincushion is lovely also. Tak for another SAKFAB. Be well, Sally 🌹

It’s so exciting to see your jackets grow. You two are so patient and perfect in the entire fitting and sewing process. Good job! If I were not already working on the Primerose throw, the Sweater Advent Calender, the Easiest Socks and other fiber projects, I might be tempted to start dress making again. 😂
By the way, the “a” in basting is pronounced long, so more like [bay’ stuhng]. I mention this only, because your English is almost perfect, Carlos. I totally respect and admire that English is your third language or fourth or more? And for me living in Europe I love the “translations” you give between the old and new continents. 😍

We have sunshine AND snow here in Ayrshire, for now, the snow is off. I've started using circular knitting needles for the time and OMG, they are so easy to use after being shown properly rather than trying to do it on my own. Thanks to the ladies at my local knitting group x

Your jackets are gorgeous! Wow. Also, James Patterson is a very prolific writer. He's written for television so his books read like an action-packed film. You're going to love Dolly's book, Arne!

Wow the “ along” sounds very exciting guys. Looking forward to Easter Sunday to start this. I cannot crochet so will be interested in this one as well as the knitting. The pin cushion is fabulous and a great having the family special one to frame or do whatever to keep it. Also looking forward to seeing you both in your costumes on May 17th. Great sit and knit - thanks so much 🧶🧶

I thought of you Arne when I saw that book in a store this week and I agree that I'm going to read it even if there are bad reviews because how can you give Dolly a bad review! The jackets look amazing already and all that hand stitching is a lot of work. I'm going to go check out the pattern for the crochet along now!
