      Sometimes a way to feel better is straightforward. Move more, increase your daily activity by even going for a walk if you didn't before is good start. Look at your diet, how to include healthier stuff, maybe some unhealthy things can be replaced with a healthier alternative (instead of processed meat get a fresh cut of meat etc., include some healthy fat, veggies). Socializing is found to be really beneficial for us as well, try to join an activity or community of people if you lack that. Try to go to sleep earlier if you go to sleep late. Probably won't always succeed to do those things perfectly, maybe not everyday either, however making any positive change is good

      And even with all of this you can still walk outside and get hit by a bus tomorrow. While yes, people need to do the work to hypothetically live longer, people shouldn't sacrifice enjoying their lives for potentially nothing. There should be a healthy balance, and an acceptance that your time on this earth isn't guaranteed

      I don't think biohacking is being used correctly here. As far as I learned what it was, it was just about using the latest technologies to improve humans in any way. There's a dude who put a camera in his head so that he can see more colours. There's a guy who's trying to use CRISPr to cure his own diabetes. There's way more to this than just "trying to cheat death"

    it's sad because I think as a culture, especially in America death is such a taboo subject. I'm 26 now and I'm starting to learn a lot now that other countries death is looked upon as a beautiful thing a part of life that our soul lives forever but it seems anything that involves money can become a business and people for ever have wanted to live long lives but in reality even at 26 I am starting to come to terms with death, and that it is a beautiful part of life. Heck, even in the south, which gets so much hate in America by the northeast, sometimes they celebrate and accept death more.

    • @densetsu4286
      @densetsu4286 Рік тому

      first off there is no proof of a soul. If there is no soul then nothing lives forever after your death. There is nothing.
      Also death isn't a taboo topic at all. Where did you get that idea from? Even the latter half of your argument support that its not taboo.
      Also its celebrated in the south more cause the south is more religious cause evangelicals have a strangle hold of the southern states. And you'd think that sounds nice. But no it isn't cause they use that religion as an excuse to be homophobic, xenophobic, racist, sexist, and bigots. And they believe they are doing their god's will because the crazy person on the podium said it as such and thus these people use their religion to excuse their hate and believe they will still go to heaven where a paradise awaits them after death.
      Yeah i can see that being rather enticing.

    I can't stand people preying on others, but that is never a reason not to pursue something, just a reason to regulate it to protect people. I'd also say that aging doesn't have to be seen as a disease to be worth overcoming. We develop technology to overcome the limitations of our physical forms all the time, and this is no different if safeguards are in place to protect people from exploitation.

    I don’t know about most people, I’m not looking for super-human longevity, but to undo much of the damage that modern society has allowed to happen to modern people: microplastics, extreme amounts of trans fats, sugar, sodium etc you get in take away food that is purchasable within 5km or less per suburb…yes eating healthier (which is even hard to do unless you have the money to buy pesticide-free, non-GMO (bad GMO) grown foods, drinking well-filtered water, sleeping and exercising well, not ingesting toxins through alcohol, cigarettes and drugs and getting enough time in the sun and nature (just not too much sun)…
    But we need knowledge on how to boost our bodies from this kind of damage while we’re adjusting our lifestyles…I don’t think that’s unfair to ask for.
    Wanting to live forever though and takeaway natural processes like old age, no thanks 🤷‍♀️

    I think the reason people seek this kind of "solutions" is that they need to feel more control, and hope thar they will have longer and better life. The actions that you say are "simple" are not always so simple or even possible for some of us. For example, I suffer from insomnia for years and no doctor or treatment I've tried helped and I've tried many. Some people have hard time losing weight, some people have medical conditions that can't be fully treated and makes them unable to workout or eat certain foods, some people have depression that no treatment or medication can really solve. So a lot of our life and health is determined by genetics and luck, and people want to think that there are external solutions that can enhance their life quality more than their actions, which are sometimes limited.

    It's funny, my entire "live longer" plan is just to not die. Like at some point I'll just stop aging and as long as i don't get killed, I'll live forever. Got nothing against aging or dying, i just figure I've got as much of a chance of being some kind of medical miracle as being a regular person, and if I just believe I won't die, I'll see what happens. Plus, it's very low stress. Got all the time to do all the things I'll ever want to do, all the time to spend with the people I care about. Biohacking is a scam, but as long as I don't try to charge anyone money for my silly belief, I'm fine with as many people hearing about it as possible. As long as i don't end up looking like that lizard dude who gets blood transfusions from his kid, i think I'll be fine with whatever happens.

    people who "biohack" should be trained, specially, in biotechnology. As a biotechnologist, I like the idea of DIY science, but not to alter the germ line of humans in anyway, sure, take part in research projects for citizen scientists if you're untrained as a scientist.Biohacking though isnt what it seems, its more about finding faster ways to get results by genetic engineering, but not of people, some people who descide to change themselves by engineering so far have been highly trained, like the guy who made himself a woman by altering the expression of hormones in his body. this may one day help trans people. think about citizen science as a faster way for discovery rather than genetic enineering the human germline. educate about what the purpose of it is, and weed out the rest, do the research man.

    Doc do better research. Ageing ticks all the classifications of a disease. It's just a disease with 100% mortality rate and 100% genetic transferability. 60% Of cancers occur in people of 65 years and older, cardiovascular disease, dementia, osteoporosis are all age related diseases.
    More and more biologists, gerontologists, and biomedical scientists are researching ageing alone, as this is the precurser for those diseases. By doing something about the underlying process of ageing, a lot of other diseases will have new cures and won't return as quickly.
    To say you don't want to work with ageing is like saying you don't want to actually cure any age-related diseases. It's really baffling to here from a doctor.
