    You installed the LED incorrectly. You MUST clock them with the LED chip facing in the 3 and 9 o’clock position. When you do, you get the perfect light with the cut off line. I have the same lights on my truck. Once I turn them the light was fantastic. On the fog lights below, the light needs to be clocked in the 12 and 6 position to exposed the LED to the biggest part of the reflector,

    For anyone who sees this. LEDs are ALWAYS supposed to be east and west not north and south regardless of how your original halogens were oriented. That's why he's having an issue with dead-spots to the left and right.

    If you rotate the bulb so that the LEDs are facing side to side (9 and 3) instead of top and bottom (12 and 6), you will get much better light distribution. Halogen bulbs have full 360 degree light output so it does not matter what orientation the bulb is in. With LEDs, the top and bottom have less light than the sides where the chips are, so there will be less light (dead spot) directly in front of your car when clocked correctly (9 and 3), but proper fog lights will fill that in pretty well. From what I've seen, Auxito LEDs are not that great, so if you want some LEDs that are brighter and better for projectors, here are a few I would recommend: 1: GTR Lighting Ultra 2 2: Headlight Revolution Sv.4 3: Amazon Katana 9005 LED (same as Sv.4, just cheaper) 4: Diode Dynamics SL1. I currently have the Sv.4 bulbs in my H7 projectors on my subaru, and they are super bright with great distribution, with only a small dead spot in the foreground that my fog lights get rid of. Hope this helps!

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  3 роки тому +8

      Yeah going to try the 3/9 clocked position and see if the dead spots are better! I also noticed the ad for these bulbs is pretty deceiving. They said 16k lumens on the ad but when I got it the bulbs are 8k each which is less than others. Ill try clicking these first and then compare it to the HID setup in the projector next

I didnt check to see if the foglights have an adjustment but Ill have to see if the headlights do. Ive read that its suppose to be the opposite way. Nice video. Surprised about the amount of hardware you need to remove to change a light bulb. Guess it takes at least one engineer to change this light bulb. 😀. The evolution of led has been amazing over the past decades. From small indicator lights to room and car lights. Would be interesting if a filament led bulb for cars would be developed. However, by the time that is finished there may not be a market for that anymore, since all cars have oem led lights.

      Absolutely true on reflector type housings, our vision is horizontal biased since we don't fly by nature, and coincidentally you want more light on the ground that's rushing toward you in the horizontal plane. This does get tricky in projector housings, perhaps projectors are the use case for the 8 sided LED bulbs out there. Currently playing with a 360 degree adjustable to find optimal, projector housings can be very different internally model/manufacturer to model/manufacturer on how they bounce and focus light through the lens, tricky with the go-to 2 sided thin LED assemblies. The one I'm working with has the bulb coming in virtually perpendicular to the orientation of the lens.

    My case is on a different vehicle, a 2017 Highlander and with similar LEDs ( smaller in size than most ) made by CLD and the model is called “ ONE “. I also have OEM headlight housings and low beam projector. I made the mistake of messing around with the headlight housing up and down aiming on a previous install. I’m pretty sure the beams are aimed too high. The suggested beam distance for a low beam is around 130 feet but these new LEDs shine great up to somewhere around 180-200 feet. The issue is there is better than the old halogens light from about 10 feet in front of the vehicle but it looks like I have a shadow right in front of each projector for about 20 feet and about 2 feet wide. I’ve marked off the proper beam height at 25 feet on a wall at work and tonight I’ll try to adjust the beam down maybe 1 or two inches on my break. If the beam pattern gets worse on the drive home I’ll remember to count how many counter clockwise turns I made and either turn it back halfway clockwise or do another couple turns down. As long as I get between 130-140 feet of good down road beam pattern and hopefully those dim spots reduce to nothing or at least less than 4 or 5 feet I’ll be okay because the halogen low beams even when new were pathetic.

I got the Un upgraded style with no fan and heat sinks and they have held up pretty good. This is my third set. First set took a dump after around a year of use. Good bang for the buck though.

      I have the same issue with my LEDs shutting off. But I guess you have to take it to a dealer ship and have them program something in your truck so they don't turn off randomly. But what lights you buy man. Can you out the link so I can check them out.

    The bulb might have better light output if you Adjust the bulb vertical instead of horizontal. Most manufacturers recommend they be vertical.

      I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima that comes stock with HID low beams and halogen fog lights and high beams. I was going to upgrade the HID to LED and orient them vertically but I saw a lot of reviews saying that it would cause the beam to have the opposite dead spots compared to this (bright on the sides and dim straight ahead). My HIDs have a slight blue tint that suck when it is wet out. What I did, that I think is the best solution, is I got bright yellow LEDs (the best color for wet roads) for my fog lights and insanely bright white LEDs for my high beams. Now my fog lights travel as far as the low beam while giving the golden glow to show the wet roads better. I highly suggest that strategy if you have projector low beams but reflector fog/high beams

      @@seanmurphy1768 I can't say 100% but I would think having the LEDs facing 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock would be best. I would think the one facing 6 o'clock would be the high beam and would reflect off the bottom of the housing and be directed upwards to show further down the road. Again, I'm not 100% sure but that is what I would try first if I were doing it

      @@seanmurphy1768 Yes most review videos say stay away from LED headlights with more than 2 diodes, one on each side of the stem they are attached to. By going with 2 diodes there is one diode hitting each side, left and right side of the reflector inside the housing. The reflectors inside the housing (all that shiny chrome) is curved so it focuses the most light possible as far forward and to each side as it can. So any more than 2 diodes is disrupting they light omitted from the other diodes and are usually inn the "dark areas or the tops and bottoms" of the reflectors. Having more than 2 diodes in the products ad pic is nothing more than click bait to get the shopper to click on the ad, luring them to their page and making them believe with so many diodes they are so much brighter and better. They obviously will be brighter but unable to focus all that light where it needs to be. hope this helps,

It has no dead spots at all and looks like a giant flashlight down the road instead of two cone beams that overlap

      @on-wl4yu I'm not too sure about that, to be honest. My HIDs lasted up until a deer jumped out and totaled the car last week. Although they were definitely dimmer than they used to be but they were still bright. I'm not sure how to clock them, though. The LEDs just had to have the diodes facing a certain way when twisted in, but they locked in solid and didn't have any other way to be adjusted. As far as I know, my car didn't have a way to adjust the HID bulbs either, other than maybe minute adjustments by just forcefully moving them by hand after they were tightened down, but I don't recommend that because it could break the bulb very easily

    Jon, if this was my truck, I'd go with the NIGHT RUNNER black headlight that has a big reflector. I got a friend with those same black projector headlight kit & LED as well. He wasn't happy with beam pattern. My friend saw a truck with the Night Runner package & got those big black headlights. Boy was he happy with new lights along with LEDs. That light pattern is bright & wide to see with. I see many people go buy those aftermarket projectors because it looks good on the vehicle. But when they see how bad the beam at night, they are not happy with choice they made. Then they go back to originals lights & the beam is much better. I hear many bad stories with either factory or aftermarket projector lights. In my opinion, I 'd go with with a headlight that has a big reflector for better beam pattern. You could make a comparison on video for other to witness with.

I put Lasfit LEDs into my aunt's 2005 Subaru with projector lights and the passenger side projector is dim while the driver side is bright. Check to make sure the projector is in adjustment or aimed correctly. Projectors have a reflector behind that thick lens, and just like aiming or adjusting headlights the projectors reflection device needs to be centered in its dome lens. Otherwise especially with those thick glass lenses it won't allow the light to fully go forward making it appear to be dim. Ever notice when approaching extremely bright lights at night and when they get really close the lights seem to almost lose their brightness? It's because as you approach your eyes focus is basically going to the side of the dome of the glass projector. meaning your eyes are moving away from the focus of the projector. Make sense I hope!?

    You can only put these in the projector style headlamps. In the regular open housings an LED will flood the roadway with light and blind oncoming traffic.
    And yes they need to be mounted with the LED vertical. When you install them clocked like you did, is why you have that dead spot!
    I installed these on my 13 Explorer and my Motor Home, both of which have projector headlamps. The difference is amazing. Like driving a new car.

      Incorrect. Maybe this brand of bulb or style of led with the diodes at the end of the bulb but I can assure you I put better quality LEDs installed correctly in reflector housings with no blinding results. Of course they were installed in European reflectors which have a projector style cut off, but again, we never got flashed with them.

    • @bradcliff7099
      @bradcliff7099 Рік тому

      Wrong! There are 2 reasons any headlight blinds oncoming traffic and this is because the Headlight housing reflectors are not aimed correctly, or 2ndly most people have the deer in the headlights syndrome, where they aren't smart enough to look away and look down at the white fog line on the right at the end of their hoods. Most people don't even realize headlights are not aligned or out of adjustment or that they can be aimed or how to adjust them. Every owners manual has the same exact procedure explaining the step to adjusting headlights. It uses two measurements. the measurement away from a vertical white surface is always 25 feet. the 2nd measurement depends on the vehicle. You get that by finding the tiny clear aiming dot in front of the dim bulb on the housing lenses. Measure from the ground up to the dot in the dim side of the lenses and do to the wall or vertical surface 25 ft. away in front of car and put a strip of tape at that measurement and do the same for the other side then go find the adjustment screws under the hood on most and turn them until the beam is centered on each piece of tape. You may not get blinded but most times when you meet a vehicle and notice one looks like its brighter than the other until they get to within maybe 3 or 4 car lengths distance from you when they look like they are the same brightness, that would be lights out of adjustment. Chris priestly is also correct!
