Scott’s back at it! You sure know where To go for interesting finds. I was at Station Camp Creek yesterday in Irvine Kentucky met a couple of rock hounds down there. I found one agate. Happy Hounding! I mentioned you channel to them they are on my Community page you are too as one of my favorite channels, they mentioned Agate Dad …I mentioned to them about his 10% off discount on lapidary high tech saws. Etc.
That’s terrific, thank you so much! I enjoy watching Agate Dad’s videos as well. I’m glad you found you an agate. I hope it turns out beautiful for you!
Wow...this place has a lot of beautiful and interesting quartz and chert specimens (two of my favorite stones). This was a GREAT video! Look forward to the slabbing and polishing.
I'm currently working on a piece of Llanite on the high speed sander. It's not going very well. I'm going to have to take it over to the Genie to see if I can get a better polish on it. I think you got a nice haul this time out. I look forward to seeing them in future videos.
That piece you picked up at 10:33 and maybe the one before it could be petrified palmwood. Petrified palmwood does have a straw like cell structure that resembles your examples. Enjoyed the video!
Cool video The llanite doesn’t tumble well. It has a tendency to fall apart if left in the tumbler too long. I have a lot of jaspers up the river from where you were. Some very cool stuff you can find. If you wait for a decent rain in that area, the river will run better, and you’ll find even cooler stuff.
@@spwinaustin You may be able to cab some of the harder Llanite. Yes, there's some much cool material in that area, and River, you never know what you'll find up there.
Also bits of Crynode flower fossil, be respectful that stuff has been found but alot of it Is on private property that ppl tore up an disrespected land owners , not this good man just a kind rendered found ours on top of the road cut
We are in Kingsland this weekend. I did so rock hunting today when we go here. I found a rock just like the one you showed us with all the holes. I think it’s around the 6:18 mark.
That was awesome. We stop at the road cut going into Llano on our way to Fredericksburg but never get anything good. Can you tell me how to get this location. I’ll definitely stop on our next trip out that way. Thanks 🙏
You were definitely close! It’s the crossing on FM 3404, about 20 miles from Llano. You can just google “the slab in Kingsland” and you’ll find it. Good luck!
Great trip! I have found and tumbled several rocks like that last one. I am not positive what it is either but my rocks were translucent, some more than others.
Anyone notice the Indian artifact to the top left when you hold up ?Lianite? I’m in Virginia and I have several similar stones, you will find the start of a bird effigy.
You're welcome. The main reason I know that is because the wife and I were asked by TPWD to stop stacking rocks on the Llano River and we were told then. This was 4 years ago.
Hi, thanks for watching! I’ve seen ammonite fossils and they have a different look so I’m thinking probably something else. Thank you for the feedback!
Sorry I didn't find this channel sooner! My husband would've loved it!❤
Welcome, I’m so glad you found me! Thank you for watching!😁
Nice hunt, great finds!!
Thank you Mike, it was a nice way to spend a Saturday 😁.
@@spwinaustin no doubt! I'm curious to know what Kendra picked up!
Nice finds! Another destination added to my rock hounding bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jeannie, you should definitely check it out!

Thanks Clenton, I appreciate it! I have a slabbing video and a tumbling video based on those rocks so keep an eye out for those.

I know your pain my friend. Llanite doesn’t take a great shine 😢. I’m going to try Zam and the buffing wheel on my next cab.

Thanks for the info! I definitely plan on heading back sometime. I have hounded up the river from there as well and found some cool stuff.

Look for lanite with blue dots kinda porous but was fun to collect

I definitely look for it, and on that day I did collect a couple of pieces including one large one!

@@spwinaustin thank you 👍
I'm heading to TX next week and have 1 day for rockhounding, I think I've found my spot now, thanks so much!
I’m so glad I could help, thanks for watching!
I can’t wait to see the llanite slabbed and cabbed
I’m slabbing it now so stay tuned for that video….. Thanks for watching!
Great trip! I have found and tumbled several rocks like that last one. I am not positive what it is either but my rocks were translucent, some more than others.
Thanks Peter! I’ve got the rocks in the tumbler now and in a couple of months I’ll have the answer 😩.
I can't wait to see what the llanite tumble too.
Me too!! I’ve got it in the tumbler as I type this 😆.
My neck of the woods.
It’s a cool area! Thankfully it’s not too far from me either 🤞.
I'd guess coral but I'm no expert! I find some nice horn corals from time to time that take a great tumble. They sort of have a similar structure.
That’s probably correct. This area was once under the ocean several million years ago…..

Hi, thanks for watching! I honestly never noticed that 🤷♂️
You're welcome. The main reason I know that is because the wife and I were asked by TPWD to stop stacking rocks on the Llano River and we were told then. This was 4 years ago.
That’s crazy. 😁
4:58 Has to be palm being that it is a porous wood.
Thanks for the info, and thank you for watching!
The yellow part on the agate is probably limonite
Hi, thank you for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
Do you catalog your pieces where you found them?
No, not specifically, but I can usually remember the general area where I find my rocks.
State of Texas asks that people DON'T stack rocks because moving rocks around disturbs small wildlife that lives among the rocks.
That’s most interesting, thanks for the feedback!
Where you on the north or south side of Slab Road?
Hi Katrina, thanks for watching! We were on the south side. It seemed like there were lots more rocks there.
Ammonite Fossil?
Hi, thanks for watching! I’ve seen ammonite fossils and they have a different look so I’m thinking probably something else. Thank you for the feedback!
