Ant? Praying mantis all day! 😂 I love tumbling chert, especially banded chert. Great polish. I have also found some mish mash pieces that look to be agatey chert or jasper. I also see some with quartzite mixed in….They all make for some crazy good tumbling.
@@spwinaustin If we were in Ancient Rome they would probably call me Cherticus Maximus from all the chert I have picked up thinking it was something else.
I flew hang gliders for years and landed just to the south of the bridge several times over the years. 40 years later I got into jewelry art and am intrigued and inspired with your videos. Going to visit there and already bought a saw and lapidary equipment! Just subscribed!!
@@spwinaustin three is an old mine shaft on the back side of Packsaddle Mtn. I think it was on the neighbors property so I never hiked there. As if that would have made any difference in the first place. With a good telescope may be able to see it from the Slab! I think someone told me that it was an old Spanish silver mine. I used to see it sometimes while flying there.
LOVE these! We're in Belton, and I'm thinking about making a slab trip myself soon. Picked up some Llanite from the Babyhead outcrop, and I agree with you...VERY soft rock!
I went to The Slab last month and found some beautiful pieces! Some I was so sure were jasper/chert, but when I used a flashlight they were translucent! Green/red/orange/yellow. 🤩
I need to get out there again some time. I found some nice stuff the one time I made it out there. I had the same issue tumbling llanite. I got one decent piece to take a shine and the rest just never cooperated.
I’m about to post a video on my other account where I collect a ton of that central Texas agate some chert as well! I’d love to tag you and mention you if you don’t mind. Love the videos

Love everyone (with the exception of the Lanite)!!! Great Job!!!
Thanks bud! I appreciate you watching!
The Slab!! I’m not in TX anymore and this was a charming video reminding me of good times at The Slab. Beware the leeches! 😂😂😂
Thanks so much for the warning 😆, and thank you for watching!

Very pretty. Cheers from East Coast, Canada.
Thank you my north of the border friend!😁
Awesome tumbles! That haunted skeletal rock made me scared, too😂!
Fear not, I took care of it with my 18” rock saw!😂
