Being a rock hound myself I found that one of my favorite tools is my phone. The flash light you can hold against translucent rock and see inside, camera you can see what you can't see normally. Move camera around at different angles you may be surprised.
Hey Randall, thanks for watching! It certainly looks promising on the aerial map. I’ve had pretty good luck on the Llano River so you might be on to something there. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks so much. They are rolling as I write this and hopefully will be ready for polishing very soon. Be sure and check back in a few weeks and thanks for watching!
What tumbler do you use? Ive been wanting to purchase one but all the reviews say they wear out pretty easily and dont last long. Has that been your experience? Should I use my dryer instead? Lol.
Hi. Thanks for watching. I have a variety of tumblers I use but I prefer Lortone for the rotary stage and Thumlers for the vibratory stages. So far they have held up very well. Check out the video I’m putting out tonight for more information regarding vibratory tumbling.
Hi Peter. So far I’ve only found agates on rock bars along some of our local rivers. They are not as exciting and colorful as those which I have purchased but still can be beautiful when polished. There’s a giant rock bar on the Nueces river near Uvalde which has served me well. Good luck!
@@spwinaustin I travel south Texas for work so I am looking for places in and around San Antonio, Austin, Rio Grande Valley and the Houston area (where I live). I am taking a trip to Laredo for the first time next month and I hear there may be some places there to hound.
I love the rocks found on the Llano River. I have tumbled several and get beautiful shines.
I agree, it’s a great rockhounding river 😉. Thanks for watching Cyndy!

Cool video.
I make slabs out of the banded chert. Just like Tigers Eye.
That’s an interesting idea, I’ll have to try that sometime. Thanks for watching!
Down very near my home! Go Texas!😅
Thanks for watching Glenn, and Go Texas!!😁
Long's Camp in Kingland Texas would be a good rockhounding area to consider!

Where would you recommend finding agates in Texas? I am looking for pieces to tumble.
