Best way to defeat elthal. Get a wizard or sorc lvl 4. Bring 1-2 lvl 2 arcane cultivations. When she summons clones. Use magic missle upcasted. To target every single copy. It's guaranteed hit, and will disple all of them except the real one. Have a strength character and use a potion of vaulting, and longstrider. So not only can ur str character get right on top her, any spell she attempts to cast will have Disadvantage if not the str character. A few way to deal extra damage is hold person for Melee crits, halt to skip turn, speed potion to attempt either 2 times per turn. There's no better combo to defeat her easily. And if on tactician, fly potion is stronger, bloodlust on rouge (dual xbow) can shoot one clone and gain action back. (3 actions to shot mutiple special arrows).

Little did i know i left non lethal on and after a quick pickpocket i back stabed her and she never go back up. Over an hour orlf planning and set up and thos did her in. 10/10 would do again
I did a cool in my fight with her. When she tried to use Mayrina as a body double I turned Mayrina invisible then summoned the ogers to fight for me it kinda worked out.
She TPKed my BF and I on my first playthrough, I took that personally and pushed her into the hole in her little cave at full HP, then proceeded to do it again to the dude keeping Dame Aylin imprisoned, several times cause we kept screwing up that fightXD
I remember during the fight I pushed her into the void and when she came back in act 3 I was like "this some comic book shit i suppose I did never actually see her die"
I used fog in between her and Mayrina then save scummed and stole all of her stuff. This made her glitch and not respond when I tried to talk to her, but you can still force the quest by going downstairs. She was still glitchy and didn't fight back except for opportunity attacks once the fight started. It just takes awhile, and she still asks you to spare her.
My husband and I 1 hit her in one of our playthroughs. By putting the whole party in sneak, and then using jump to get around the map, you can get the girl, revealing Ethel in hag form but not activating combat, and you can thunderwave her into the pit. Again, you miss the bonus, but it is so satisfying.
So, i went to fight Ethel and i forgot i had non lethal attack on(i might have been dealing with 'the stone lord' before but i cant remember) and i knocked her out. This is in act 3 when you go find her after a woman asked you to find her daughter. Well, here my tiefling ass is, standing over her unconscious, and i get a prompt to...save the child(i'm try to avoid big spoilers) and well, you CAN save the child before actually killing Ethel. Didnt know that then. (Also, the kid will hang around during the rest of the fight. Why she just doesnt run is beyond me.)
With magic missiles it's very easy to kill her even on Honor mode. Just cast spell first so she spend her legendary acting, then destroy her copies with magic missiles. Then paladin of vengeance or barbarian will take care of her easily.
My buddies and I are all playing little psycho dwarves. We managed to get around her, used enlarge just before going in with invis. Oh. I just yeeted her into oblivion on accident bc Shadowheart only had a bonus action left and the only thing I could think to do was “shove.” It was over so fast I didn’t know what happened. No loot, but Myreena and her husband were… “re-united”
I pushed one of her illusions in the chasm on my first turn. I happened to pick the real one and the fight was over xD 1 turn, 1 bonus action and i won.
i'm currently at my very first playthrough of bg3 and today i found her house. and like a good gamer that i am i tried to go the way that the game wants us players to and got to her dungeon, where i spent about 4 hours attempting to take her down before i said fuck it and left through her portal, frustrated. i guess my level 4 party is not enough yet ;-;
Or you can exploit her for her potions of hill giant strength. Every time you level up she restockes so put someone next to her and respec with withers
so when i fought her i had the spear you can make from the owl bear eye that applies blindness on a target. and behind her house there is an area with a ladder. she can jump down she cannot get up it however. so i would poke her with the spear and run back up the ladder so she was basically nothing but a dmg sponge.
So when I played earlier days of mac book, i defeated her at level 3 because before she could get to the stairs i killed her, a mix of fire bomb, crits and the power hammer you get from the From killing the hob goblin in goblin camp. When i played the resl version/full release I struggled to beat her with every character at level five and even though i had non lethal attack on all the masked people died after I defeated auntie ethal. The difficulty and overall just feeling of losing because i was playing to save everyone sucked.
Fun little thing i did fir this fight. I wanted to save the people with the masks on in her dungeon, so i stealthed past them and went straight to ethel. She then summoned them to the arena turn 1, so i save scummed(im not sorry), and casted silence on her. Then my 2 martials and 2 weapon fighting bard jumped her, and had someone in the back spam hideous laughter every turn so she couldnt run out of the silence
I didn't notice her HP, and I guess that she can't ask for mercy in a silence spell, so she just died. That or I crit her to death from like 30 or something. So no +1 for me, but at least everyone was freed
I used the magic silencing sword on her turn one. Just surrounded her and smacked her to pieces after that. She didn’t even offer me anything at low health

(Which you can pot Heroism elixar on for extra health or hill giant that you should have farmed early game).
Smaller trick to help with her boss fight; the tadpole effect that causes a stat drain only effects the main Ethyl; any copies or decoys wont have the condition, and the real her can easily be identified ^^
I wish we cud do this in the druid's grove when we first meet her
You can. But you'll have the entire camp turn hostile. lol
@@keldor8302 we cant tho, she magically runs away and disappears unless it has been made possible
@@viy4581 she can't run if unconscious. Unless they made her immune when in the grove? I'm starting a new playthrough. I'll test it out.
You can meet her in the druid's grove?!
@@_rosmarino yes, she is there by the cooking pot where Rolan and his family stands if u convince them to stay.
Iirc she asks u to eat some good to regain your strength and spoiler
The injured Tiefling inside that locked house(near the cell where the goblin is locked up) will tell u that the old woman gave her a potion that made her courageous as she wanted but also came with a side effect that paralysed her
Me: enters dialogue so she doesn't move
Buddy: unloading the goblin camps barrel supply around her
I found this out by mistake in my first playthrough. Stumbled upon the secret passage and free cast silance to get through and avoided all the traps and made my way yo the bottom. Srt up an elaborate trap for her and then sent Astatian to start the fight and de polymorph.
Or or dare I say surrounding her with barrels and barrels that explode works wonders
She TPKed my BF and I on my first playthrough, I took that personally and pushed her into the hole in her little cave at full HP, then proceeded to do it again to the dude keeping Dame Aylin imprisoned, several times cause we kept screwing up that fightXD
If you want to fight here out there...just wait till she walks out to the balcony she will stay and fight instead of running into her lair.
I didn't take her deal anyways, so thanks for the tip!
I remember during the fight I pushed her into the void and when she came back in act 3 I was like "this some comic book shit i suppose I did never actually see her die"
Diabolical 😈
I used fog in between her and Mayrina then save scummed and stole all of her stuff. This made her glitch and not respond when I tried to talk to her, but you can still force the quest by going downstairs. She was still glitchy and didn't fight back except for opportunity attacks once the fight started. It just takes awhile, and she still asks you to spare her.
>missing out on a stat boost
My brother in Tyr, letting an evil creature live isn’t worth the stat boost.
Me when i found out about barrelmancy: I AM NOT A PETAL DAMNIT!
I took the hag eye, then burst her down before she could teleport away. I had to reload quite a few times to accomplish it.
I did it in one save, I can’t say the same about Grym though.
My buddies and I are all playing little psycho dwarves. We managed to get around her, used enlarge just before going in with invis. Once we were all in place, we launched our attack killing her before she could even reach her fireplace!
Despite our win, we ended up trying a couple times to get her just under 10 hp without killing. Wanted to see if we could get the +1 without doing her full dungeon. Alas you can not!
Also try to kill sheep, before scenery changes to Swamp, and they turn into Redcaps.
Also a Great buff. Bahh at the sheep, then strike lethal the strange Sheep, in the oh so pretty floral area, before Ethel's cottage.
Bahh, yoo!!🐑🌺✨
Thank you GM.
👩🏻🚀🐶✨🌜✨🧝🏻♀️❤️🩹🗡️🗡️
BG³ fun. 🌈🌺💮🌸🐑🐑🌺💮🌸
I never failed the perception check, I probably should have though because it might look cool
You can get her hair and kill her if you leave Astarion outside the mushroom portal for the fight. Take the deal but don't finish the dialogue and have Astarion finish her. The reward popup appears when you first swap over to Astarion. Ethel's body disappears but the hair and Second Marriage are enough for me.
and here I was placing a bunch of explosive barrels to blow her up before she gets into the basement
i uh… had gale lock the door behind the fireplace. and then i laughed as ethel tried three times to get in.
If use the resurrection wand on mayrinas husband you can keep it and get a free zombie that you can summon infinitely
Can also Use the ogre horn that u can aquire from the blighted village
Yea but I prefer the horrifying experience of going through her lair and finding the people she tortured 😂
Also, cast arcane lock on her stairs
Oh. I just yeeted her into oblivion on accident bc Shadowheart only had a bonus action left and the only thing I could think to do was “shove.”
It was over so fast I didn’t know what happened. No loot, but Myreena and her husband were… “re-united”
You can also just Arcane Lock the stairs.
Yes indeed, you might even find a certain someone did a short about that as well some time ago 😉
@@GMWorkshop Wait was that you? I'm sorry 😂
If you spare Ethel, you can find her again in act III causing more trouble. But convince her to side with you for your big fight.
In Divinity 2 and evil king turned a shit ton of people into animals and you encounter them super often and throughout the game
I pushed one of her illusions in the chasm on my first turn. I happened to pick the real one and the fight was over xD 1 turn, 1 bonus action and i won.
I do the arcane lock where mayrina is behind the fireplace. Stun lock victory
i find it funny that there are 2 old women with the same ish hairstyle that go by ethel with a word before it
Hmm..now I'm wondering if we can do this with the not so obvious non-ox at the Druids Grove.
I think if you sneak past her and arcane lock her escape route, she can’t actually leave and is stuck in that one areA
The Ethel fight was so disappointing at level 4... It only took two turns. The beholder fight though... Mmmmm delicious 😋
i'm currently at my very first playthrough of bg3 and today i found her house. and like a good gamer that i am i tried to go the way that the game wants us players to and got to her dungeon, where i spent about 4 hours attempting to take her down before i said fuck it and left through her portal, frustrated. i guess my level 4 party is not enough yet ;-;
Or you can exploit her for her potions of hill giant strength. Every time you level up she restockes so put someone next to her and respec with withers
I made a npc in my dnd game who was very similar to ethel years ago so i always have a soft spot for her
She never offered me that buff but I also was taking massive chunks of health with my divine smite
"tactition is too easy" players in action for every boss fight
I used over 20 mixed barrels of fire wine, oil, and smoke powder to finish her
so when i fought her i had the spear you can make from the owl bear eye that applies blindness on a target. and behind her house there is an area with a ladder. she can jump down she cannot get up it however. so i would poke her with the spear and run back up the ladder so she was basically nothing but a dmg sponge.
Arcane Lock + Barrels = Priceless
Wait... thats the kind old lady who gave me a free healing potion before i massacred all the druids.... yoooooo
Throw silence so she cant call her slave see invi stun cc trip easy fight plus you can cancel silence on low heath to start a conversation.
I threw a void bulb without knowing how strong it was and she went straight to hole where the cage drops
I used the magic silencing sword on her turn one. Just surrounded her and smacked her to pieces after that. She didn’t even offer me anything at low health
1M views @gmworkshop congrats, this is amazing!!!
Suprisingly i did this on my own due to curiosity and didnt expect it to work
When she fakes you out as the girl you can cast hold person on her
