    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Here I'm trying out Big Fat Snare Drum products - both The Original & Steve's Donut (crazy good name, btw). This is the first time I recorded them, so it was very interesting to listen back to the result.
    These are awesome tools that will allow us drummers to change our snare drum sound in a couple of seconds. What's not to love? And don't say the price, they are cheap.
    Please don't take this demo too seriously. Take it for what it is: a demo. Yes, the snare drums sound is mixed. No, I didn't try every dynamical nuance known by mankind. This demo is just to show you in what direction the Big Fat Snare Drum products will take you.

    So, the sounds are top tier of course, which was kinda what I expected, but man those beats are super sick too! Very creative grooves!

    Thanks for the demo. I'm sold.
    Crazy, the original sounds better. I can hear the snares more and the donut is muted more? I thought it would be the other way around. Anyone agree?

      Zachary Fulton Yup. Can do both with and without, of course :) But I hear you, most often I play without rimshots when using the BFSD.

    hey richard, does "the original" wear off like a normal head?
    Do you recommend the donut more?

      @RICHARDSANDSTROM  5 років тому +1

      Hi, Sebastian! The Original is VERY durable. No need to worry about that, IMO. My favorite is the Original. Love that thing!

    Thanks for the video. What wires are on there?

    • @RICHARDSANDSTROM
      @RICHARDSANDSTROM  5 років тому

      It’s def. a Puresound. Can’t remember what kind, probably their EQ model.

    • @Scott42
      @Scott42 5 років тому

      Thanks. I have a 42 strand set on mine and I wonder if that's why it makes my drum sound more 'splatty' than this. I find it hard to get a balanced sound when adjusting the wire tension. When it's set so that the ghost notes are nice and articulate like in the video, it ends up choking the drum when hit hard and it loses volume, and when I back the wires off so that the big hits open up, the ghost notes start to sound too loose for my liking. Been wanting to try a 20 strand set for a while, it's been years since I've used 42s, well before the BFSD came out.

      It sounds like a tuning problem. Have you tried really cranking up the bottom head?

      @@RICHARDSANDSTROM not sure how I fixed it but it’s all good now :) I think I changed the wires out

    i like the donut better than the original BFS

    • @RICHARDSANDSTROM
      @RICHARDSANDSTROM  6 років тому +4

      The donut is great when wanting to keep more attack in the snare sound. I like both - they work in different situations.

    • @DavideGuerri
      @DavideGuerri 6 років тому

      yep, just a preference, i think that in a live situation the donut would help more to cut through the mix and retain a good attack and definition, the original would work better in a funk context like wulfpeck
