@Larry I found a cancelled isometric game that was leaked for a future video. Maybe it was that one. Oh my god, tho, a guruLarry comment, you truly are in all the comments
@Larry I don't know. I never saw that channel. A subscriber told me about it. It's for the Amiga, I think. Get well soon, Larry. I was wondering why I hadn't seen Ny suggestions for you in a while
@@theashtubereviews Aah, it was some Commodore machine. But it is strange there's not been too many Beano games TBH, In fact probably the only British comic book to have a decent chunk of games is probably Judge Dredd. But thank you, I've written a ton of scripts in the background while I've been out of commission, but I'm feeling a lot better now!
Here in America i actually came across this somehow out of nowhere when i got a used PC from a thrift store decades ago and someone left a copy of this game in the disc drive, i actually thought it was fun it very much reminded me of old Flash and shockwave games of the 2000s and Beano as a kid made me wish it was a thing in my country but today i still appreciate it because it was like tapping into another childhood universe.
This game introduced me to both beano and dandy. as well the Dennis the Menace and Gnasher 2009 that used to be on the HUB in America. I do agree, at the time getting the controls to work on modern pcs was a pain. Also doesn't really help that you can't open the games separate controller config settings. unless you're playing on a computer with an older windows system. You're pretty much a sitting duck.
Never thought they'll a cross-over between two British run comicbook rivels, and ita a mario kart clone. It would've been interesting if American dennis and benio would cross over
Sure, it was nice that you got Calamity James and Walter as secret code characters, but it would've been good to have a few more from both the _Beano_ and _Dandy_ sides that you could unlock by completing different tasks. Biffo the Bear _(Beano)_ and Brassneck _(Dandy)_ would've been pretty cool "retro" characters, for instance!
@alexv3375 For sure, I think their budget was just too small. They only had 5 tracks aswell. It would have been nice to have 10, so their could be 2 championships. Too bad we never got a beanotown racing. 2
Calamity James being a secret character who has inverted controls is bonkers, the developers clearly respected the comic and did the best job they could do with the budget. Shame the 2015 game looks terrible and the 1994 game was cancelled, guess this really is Peak Beano Gaming.
@@theashtubereviews The 1994 game was just called Dennis and Gnasher - there's some footage on the "Games That Weren't" channel Turns out there were two 2015 games, Blast in Beanotown (the one I knew about) and Dennis and Gnasher: Adventures which is apparently a zombie survival??
@@greenhowie theb1994 one looks cool, I might try to do a video on it. The zombie one just looks like another fame with dennis and Gnasher stuck on top. Thanks for letting me know :D
I remember seeing this advertised in each beano comic. I really wanted to play it But since i only had consoles for gaming, i never got to play it. Unfortunately i had to settle with CTR when i could have played this. Although it honestly doesn't look as bad as i thought it would be, considering i would imagine the budget was miniscule As it is just a small children's comic from the UK. Surprised that billy whizz wasn't a playable character. I mean his whole stick is being fast.
I've heard about that game alright but I've actually never played it. We know it is only for PC. It's a shame that it has never been released on Sony PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance. By the way I remember those comics. The race seems to have gone pear-shaped. How unfortunate the characters are!
@@theashtubereviewsI Yeah maybe. Beano and Dandy - based games probably have never been released on home consoles outside the PC. Not even in the past.
@@theashtubereviews Probably, mate. What about Meg Griffin? She has a similar personality to Calamity James' one because she is normally being very unfortunate. I feel sorry for her.
This game has haunted me since i was 11. Was never able to play it on a keyboard until i got a usb gamecube controller adapter. Never actually knew this game had cheats.. because i bloody hated it. The graphics are quite nice, and the music is decent and compliments the game quite well - but the actual controls feel like a mario ice level. on EVERY COURSE. permanently. I once made a review of this game, but it was just as crap as the game itself lol. I might need to give it another chance with a more open mind, compared to when i first played it with my “Mario bias” that i had set in stone when i was younger
