Watching Modern Warfare for the first time absolutely blew my mind and it’s stayed as my favorite episode of the series. Also couldn’t agree more that season one Chang is absolutely the funniest character
Glad to see you think Intro to Recycled Cinema is underrated. I can tell you that applies to the real world because the hand puppet prop from that episode was one of the cheapest props that got auctioned once the show ended. Citation: I own it.
This video made me realize that Netflix doesn't have the episode "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" for whatever reason. It was pretty funny because I had no idea that episode existed before you mentioned it as "a well-known episode". This definitely explains some jokes in later seasons about Fat Neil now, so thanks I guess.
Funnily enough, I think Repilot is in my top 20, maybe top 10 episodes. Idk, maybe I'm a fan of the parallels to the first ever episode, and maybe I just love seeing how far Jeff Winger has come as a character. It just really hits with me.
same, i think for me it’s that it is a masterclass in how to not just un-fuck a story or show, which would only revert it back to before it was fucked, but also shape it into something that reestablishes it’s greatness while advancing and building on it. the story is equal parts entertaining, shocking, believable, funny, sad, and injects hope into a story and a production which seemed to have lost it. most shows who had a “season 4” can’t recover from it, but this repilot says “get ready, we’re back, and soaring past your expectations.” plus all the actors do wonderfully, especially Joel, and the added comedy of the Shirley-spin-off-show is a fantastic way of explaining an actor’s sudden departure. overall it’s just a super tightly written episode with emotional heart that feels both plausible and brimming with potential for the season to come.
Fun fact: the reason I started watching this show was because my dad had a box set of the first 3 seasons. I didn’t pick it up until I started watching glee and my dad told me that there was a glee parody in it. So in a weird way my favorite bad show helped me find my favorite good show
The end of this video made me emotional 😭 Great list, I respect the time and effort that went into making this. You really did an awesome job of explaining your thoughts. Brb, gonna go re-watch the entire series again
Oh also when I first watched this and went to check who made this, I was expecting a 10-100k youtube artist based on the editing quality alone, I’m really suprised to see you’re not even over 1,000 subs. I’m excited to see how this channel grows
i too love shirley and jeff! i think they had so much character potential together and i would have loved to see that fleshed out more. the moments they do have are great though and always make me smile ((:
One thing that always amazed me about community was that it could do some many tv/movie homages while still being funny and unique. My biggest regret for the series was that we never got a full season with betty white teaching anthropology
6x12 "Wedding Videography" is truly peak comedy of Community If you wanna know "How truly chaotic this group was" 6x12 the best episode to describe how actually chaotic this group was
I knew it that remedial chaos theory is No.1! The episode shows how such small change can have a different outcome, and all characters in the episode is highlighted in each different universe. The best episode.. No, its the best comedy episode of all time!
The whole point of Chang being in dark elf face was not unlike RDJ in Tropic Thunder, making fun of cosplayers that go a little too far in their costumes, so it’s not so much being tasteless as much as it is making fun of tasteless people
While I liked Pillows and Blankets, I thought it resolved Troy and Abed's fight in kind of a rushed way. The conflict was built up for several episodes and resolved in a minute without actually addressing the reason they were fighting in the first place. It was an opportunity for some character growth for Abed, to realize that he can hurt his friends' feelings when he doesn't account for them. Instead, "friendship hats" fixes their relationship. I also hate that the silver paintball plot point gets dropped in Modern Espionage. It's too clumsily abandoned to be considered a proper red herring, and the stinger should've been used to hint at if not outright reveal the silver paintball gunner's identity.
I'm glad that someone else gave season 4 some love. The episodes are more so watered down but are still half decent. I myself am fond of: The Convention episode, The German episode, The Thanksgiving episode, The Puppet episode and The body swap episode. The issues are that most of the episodes don't expand on the concepts. So you have a paintball episode where the darkest timeline invades but it feels lacking because of the lack of exchanges between the study group and their evil selves.
Also I disagree with advanced advanced DnD having better pacing. As someone with a fairly unhealthy obsession with DnD and someone who can relate to both fat Neil and Pierce in that episode I can say that that episode is far more faithful to how playing DnD and especially older versions feels like. It also deals with heavy topics like bullying and suicidal thoughts pretty well showing how bullying can often be accidental, the impact of loneliness, and honestly how much someone else making an effort to simply play a game with you can be (hell I’d kill for that)
The Christmas episode in season 4 didn't feel like a Christmas episode because it was a reference to die hard. Abed references die hard like 5 times, which if you don't know is an arguably Christmas movie despite not feeling very christmasy. It was a very clever homage honestly and even though the episode itself was shit, I liked how they did this.
Loved this list! Only thing that I had a problem with is that the “parody” episodes aren’t actually parodies, they are homages and Harmon is very particular about them not being parodies.
You know? Honestly? Having just rewatched the series, this is a fantastic list. I couldn't agree more with your points on Remedial Chaos Theory, and I think I'm gonna rewatch it right now.
Community is by far My favorite show of all time. And this was a great list, enjoyed the analysis and the appreciation for this gem of a show! Of course can’t top Remedial Chaos Theory. And I agree that the first paintball episode took the show from exceptional to legendary.
This is offically one of my favorite genres of youtube, COMMUNITY CRACK! Like Community is such a comforting show for me, it's so nice for me, and Chang is literally one of my fav characters
May I just applaud you on the music choice at the end. Not only does the instrumental "we think we know you" work so well with the vibe and editing of the final montage of the video, Bo Burnham himself is the only person I've seen have as subversive, meta and rewatchable comedy as community. There's a reason I have all of Bo Burnham's specials and a few episodes of community downloaded on netflix for long train rides.
I think the problem with the inspector space time episode isn't that it isn't funny the pierce stuff is hilarious I think its because to get there the characters have to act way out of character
I’ve watched this whole show more times than I can count. I stopped keeping track after 4. I think ima go through and do this too. What was your organization method?
Used an episode tier list I found online and wrote the entire script on google docs. I was rewatching the whole show with my dad who had never seen it before, and after each episode, I wrote a little review and ranked it on the tier list. I had multiple recurring tabs that I kept open bc this project took me 7 months.
Environmental science is one of my favorite episodes. I feel like it's the one that really sucks you in for good and starts to find it's footing. The end where they sing to Fievel while chang is dancing with his wife and pierce helps Shirley is when I really realized I was watching something special
Fabulous video. I really appreciate how much work must have gone into this. I have so many disagreements about rankings, but to me that is precisely the point.
I was surprised how good this video ended up being. I love how with every ranking video, the narrator becomes more passionate the higher on the list we get, and this video hits that right on the spot. That montage when you got to number one was amazing, and your explanation on Modern Warfare is something I couldn't have done better. You can be proud of yourself.
Hugely impressive work, man. Great video. I kept disagreeing with placements and then realised just how many fucking amazing episodes Community has, so even hilarious shit could be low on the ranking. What a show.
the accuracy of this video is insane and i respect the dedication in the rewatch and rating. thanks for making this for me to watch instead of studying- so worth it
This show just gets better and better every time u watch it and I don’t even think there’s a single episode that I absolutely dislike, truly streets ahead… anyways my top 10: 10. Cooperative Polygraphy 9. App Development and Condiments (this episode > Nosedive) 8. Mixology Certification 7. Pillows and Blankets 6. Wedding Videography (one of the most underrated episodes imo, absolutely love it) 5. Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television (this title is perfect) 4. A Fistful of Paintballs & For a Few Paintballs More 3. Contemporary American Poultry 2. Modern Warfare 1. Remedial Chaos Theory (obviously) Honourable mentions: Debate 109, Basic Intergluteal Numismatics, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Epidemiology and Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design
You don't mention why people hate the puppet episode - character assassination. Felt Surrogacy's big problem is that it tries to be one of the "secrets revealed" episodes and (in stark contrast to the impactful revelations of Cooperative Calligraphy, Cooperative Polygraphy, and to a lesser extent Basic Email Security), the secrets are mostly either way out of character or weightless and pointless. Annie (who has always been completely against any kind of academic fraud as in Conspiracy Theories) was allegedly struggling in history and let Cornwallis rub her feet in order to cheat on a test? No way. Shirley forgot her kids "all night in the grocery store"? Nope. Britta's never voted in an election but has voted for The Voice (SONG BROUGHT TO YOU BY ADAM LEVINE OF NBC'S THE VOICE)? Why would Britta be embarrassed by that, given her radical background, defending Julian Assange, raging against the machine, etc.? Troy started a fire when he was young? OK, whatever, but what impact does that have on his character? Jeff ghosting a woman he had started to date and her son? Could be interesting, but goes nowhere, and it doesn't make him "exactly like my dad." Pierce having lied about Eartha Kitt I don't actively hate, but it's meh.
Loved this video. I am currently struggling getting through season 4 and it is reassuring knowing that some of the best episodes are still ahead! Thanks!
I think it’s interesting to see how when people watched the show impacts which episodes they like. I started watching late in the series run and I don’t like seasons 4-6 as much as those who first watched it during the pandemic but I also like them more than most of the og fans who watched from the very beginning.

Nearly a 1/3 are A and S tier ... the Office and Parks and Rec may have been more consistent, but Community hit more home runs than any other show on TV
Basic genealogy should be higher simply for the fact that Jeff and amber walking in on Britta getting smacked is probably the funniest moment of the show
I only recently started Community. Watched the pilot, part of season 1, and about 10 of the “best” episodes. Somehow, I’ve watched your video twice all the way through. Well done. Love the show.
I decided to watch this specifically because of the age difference to see how you viewed the show.. and I must say very well crafted and while you may have missed some points of certain episodes, I’m sure with time and more experience when rewatching, you’ll see it differently. Great video bruh 👌🏾
Great list and great video by far. Community is one of those shows that, no matter how low on the list the episode is, it's still a great to watch. The same can be said about the "Dinner Party" and "Scott's Tots" episodes of The Office. I think, for me, the best thing about this show is how relatable each male character is for me personally. I can be socially awkward like Abed, I like retaining my non-adult tendencies like Troy, I can be snarky, jaded, and sarcastic like Jeff, and like Pierce, I want to able to fit in with a group of my peers regardless of age. I'm 57 BTW. Also, my wife thinks I can be flamboyant like the Dean, and I'm kinda crazy like Chang.
I’ve just finished watching this for the first time. 100% agree with remedial chaos theory- one of the best episodes of tv I’ve seen. This show has become my second favourite show, because Buffy the vampire slayer will probably always be my fave. Community is the best sitcom I’ve seen though.
I've seen every episode of this show at least 6 times and I gotta say... this list is really great. You explained a lot of my exact thoughts about things (for example, Communication Studies being the best "normal episode") and even the things I didn't agree on, your explanations were valid. I do think the puppet episode is as bad as people say because it feels like some shitty show trying to copy Community's formula. I also think Intro to Knots, the pilot and Studies in Modern Movement deserved to be higher and there were a few I'd personally move down, but that's just my opinion. Also I gotta appreciate the dunkey reference AND the love for Elroy, big W on that scene. Also also, DAMN you got some anime ass hair man, that's sick.
Excellent list, my dude! Very, very solid. I've been saying for years that Intro to Recycled Cinema is underrated! Good to know I'm not the only one that thinks that.
I know this video is over 2 years old and it's really well made and your personality and tone are wonderful and I watched this list all the way through because of how good your presentation was, I have to say anyway that you have the worst and most superficial taste of any community fan who has ever compiled a description of every episode. Placing style over substance throughout the entire list, missing the fact that homages are not parodies and need to have an emotional and resonating throughline for the audience to connect with, claiming that Curriculum Unnavailable (an episode where every single thing is an attempt to stop them moving forward, having ZERO impact on the story) has more story progression than Cooperative Calligraphy (Which reveals that the group has gotten to a point now where they trust each other so much they would rather believe an impossible answer rather than that one of them doesn't belong.) It's just clear that you like when shiny new sets and costumes are dangled in front of you and that merely referencing your favourite other shows and movies is enough for you to be completely satisfied. May I reccomend Family Guy and Brooklyn NineNine if that's all that's needed to make you emotional.
Man....I used to live to mindlessly turn in family guy and just enjoy stupid shenanigans. Haven't been able to do that since season 12 maybe? Could be earlier. I miss fun family guy

same, i think for me it’s that it is a masterclass in how to not just un-fuck a story or show, which would only revert it back to before it was fucked, but also shape it into something that reestablishes it’s greatness while advancing and building on it. the story is equal parts entertaining, shocking, believable, funny, sad, and injects hope into a story and a production which seemed to have lost it. most shows who had a “season 4” can’t recover from it, but this repilot says “get ready, we’re back, and soaring past your expectations.” plus all the actors do wonderfully, especially Joel, and the added comedy of the Shirley-spin-off-show is a fantastic way of explaining an actor’s sudden departure. overall it’s just a super tightly written episode with emotional heart that feels both plausible and brimming with potential for the season to come.
Also Jeff beating his asshole partner with his own tie is one of my favorite moments in the show
Fun fact: the reason I started watching this show was because my dad had a box set of the first 3 seasons. I didn’t pick it up until I started watching glee and my dad told me that there was a glee parody in it. So in a weird way my favorite bad show helped me find my favorite good show
Your dad was streets ahead
The parental parentage episode has been one of my favourites simply because of the “secret dogs!” Joke lol
The whole episode is great, tight dialog, good pacing. Definitely A tier
6x12 "Wedding Videography" is truly peak comedy of Community
If you wanna know "How truly chaotic this group was" 6x12 the best episode to describe how actually chaotic this group was
Now this is a man who knows how to pick a community episode!!!
I knew it that remedial chaos theory is No.1! The episode shows how such small change can have a different outcome, and all characters in the episode is highlighted in each different universe. The best episode.. No, its the best comedy episode of all time!
The whole point of Chang being in dark elf face was not unlike RDJ in Tropic Thunder, making fun of cosplayers that go a little too far in their costumes, so it’s not so much being tasteless as much as it is making fun of tasteless people
Yep but unfortunately parody and satire are lost on most people. There is very little room in the modern world for subtlety and nuance.
So you have a paintball episode where the darkest timeline invades but it feels lacking because of the lack of exchanges between the study group and their evil selves.
the joke about the titles is that they're classes you could take at greendale
IM SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE AGREES ON THE WORST EPISODE JEFF WOULD NEVER DO THAT
Also I disagree with advanced advanced DnD having better pacing.
It was a very clever homage honestly and even though the episode itself was shit, I liked how they did this.
i like the way u ranked them bc like community at C tier was a high 7 and that’s literally crazy for any sitcom
Absolutely beautiful tribute to the show. Makes me want to watch the whole thing again!
This is offically one of my favorite genres of youtube, COMMUNITY CRACK! Like Community is such a comforting show for me, it's so nice for me, and Chang is literally one of my fav characters
Spanish studying is better when you’re buddying arounddddddd
You can only imagine the insane level of joy I felt when my favorite episode was put in the number one spot.
It's the same for the whole season, because, say what you will about it, season 4 had almost as many laughs as other seasons for me.
I wasn't expecting We Think We Know You during the outro and it was a pleasant surprise
3 x 20 - digital estate planning - is easily in top 10 for me . i just love that episode so much. cant believe, you did that to it.
Having the greatest sitcom episode of all time at 26 is bold i'll give you that
I was surprised how good this video ended up being. I love how with every ranking video, the narrator becomes more passionate the higher on the list we get, and this video hits that right on the spot. That montage when you got to number one was amazing, and your explanation on Modern Warfare is something I couldn't have done better. You can be proud of yourself.
why doesn't this vid have more views!? its so well made, great job dude
Hugely impressive work, man. Great video. I kept disagreeing with placements and then realised just how many fucking amazing episodes Community has, so even hilarious shit could be low on the ranking. What a show.
the accuracy of this video is insane and i respect the dedication in the rewatch and rating. thanks for making this for me to watch instead of studying- so worth it
This show just gets better and better every time u watch it and I don’t even think there’s a single episode that I absolutely dislike, truly streets ahead… anyways my top 10:
10. Cooperative Polygraphy
9. App Development and Condiments (this episode > Nosedive)
8. Mixology Certification
7. Pillows and Blankets
6. Wedding Videography (one of the most underrated episodes imo, absolutely love it)
5. Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television (this title is perfect)
4. A Fistful of Paintballs & For a Few Paintballs More
3. Contemporary American Poultry
2. Modern Warfare
1. Remedial Chaos Theory (obviously)
Honourable mentions: Debate 109, Basic Intergluteal Numismatics, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Epidemiology and Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design
Excellent work! 99% agree with your rankings, and love how much you love this perfect show.
Thanks!
Really awesome video! Felt like I was chilling with a friend discussing the show; very cool, love it
I think it’s interesting to see how when people watched the show impacts which episodes they like. I started watching late in the series run and I don’t like seasons 4-6 as much as those who first watched it during the pandemic but I also like them more than most of the og fans who watched from the very beginning.
I just used a ranking Engine to rank the series since I've been watching it on repeat on Netflix for months. I removed the first Dungeons and Dragons episode because it's not on Netflix and I haven't seen it as many times as all the others and I don't remember it well enough to rank it against the others.

Bold choices putting G.I. Jeff last and putting Felt Surogecy in the top 10. I envy your bravery.
@@thelaggingcactus5488 Do people like GI Jeff? I didn't realize it was popular I feel like a lot of people don't like that one either? I watch the series all the way through a few times and I really didn't know that people didn't like season 4 that much. Felt surrogacy was one of my favorites on all of my re-watches I know it's not the deepest episode but I just love the puppets and the music. Then after seeing online opinions I realized that it was one of the fans least favorite episodes. But I thought I would be lying if I pretended it wasn't one of my favorites. I do understand people's arguments against it though.
@@Jessfrogger88 I agree about both G.I Jeff and Felt Surrogacy. The cartoon is more important to Jeff's arc than Felt is for anyone, but I don't look forward to seeing it again.
Nearly a 1/3 are A and S tier ... the Office and Parks and Rec may have been more consistent, but Community hit more home runs than any other show on TV
Damn dude, great video! You can really see the time and effort you put into this. Great job :)
Beginner pottery, Christmas glee episode, law and order and the ass crack bandit are my favourites
Well done. Love the show.
this is such a high quality video wtf? deserves more views!
Not me watching an hour long episode about every episode of a show I have seen a thousand times.
real
I also agree that curriculum unavailable is better than paradigms of human memory.....loved the rankings agree with you on many of them !!
Could you PLEASE make an episode going over the behind the scenes drama that impacted episodes and why
I'm here. It took me all of August but I'm finally here and it was worth it.
Amazing video, thank you for making it. It brought many good memories
Mini the cosmonaut, jokes aside, great video man. Top notch quality!
Ending this with “We Think We Know You” by Bo Burnham is incredibly appropriate
I decided to watch this specifically because of the age difference to see how you viewed the show.. and I must say very well crafted and while you may have missed some points of certain episodes, I’m sure with time and more experience when rewatching, you’ll see it differently. Great video bruh 👌🏾
thank you sm
Great list and great video by far. Community is one of those shows that, no matter how low on the list the episode is, it's still a great to watch. The same can be said about the "Dinner Party" and "Scott's Tots" episodes of The Office.
I think, for me, the best thing about this show is how relatable each male character is for me personally. I can be socially awkward like Abed, I like retaining my non-adult tendencies like Troy, I can be snarky, jaded, and sarcastic like Jeff, and like Pierce, I want to able to fit in with a group of my peers regardless of age. I'm 57 BTW. Also, my wife thinks I can be flamboyant like the Dean, and I'm kinda crazy like Chang.
this show is my favorite show ever for a reason i couldn’t put in words, but the opening of this video perfectly explains how i feel. great job man.
I’ve just finished watching this for the first time. 100% agree with remedial chaos theory- one of the best episodes of tv I’ve seen. This show has become my second favourite show, because Buffy the vampire slayer will probably always be my fave. Community is the best sitcom I’ve seen though.
40:14 as soon as i heard this i thought "holy crap, did epidemeology just create 6 alternative timelines?!?!"
Remedial chaos theory is Community's Ozymandias
I really enjoyed this video! I can tell a LOT of time was put into it. I gotta go back and watch Community again now. Keep up the great work!
What a wonderful tribute to an amazing show
basic rv repair and palmistry is my favourite epsiode. ik thats controversial but holy shit its so ridiculous and theres so many good one liners
YEA finally someone who puts some respect on Elroy Patashnik’s name !!
Now THAT is dedication 👏👏👏. I find it hard to do stuff like this but i know for me the 8 bit episode and the SVU episode are the best ❤
Excellent list, my dude! Very, very solid. I've been saying for years that Intro to Recycled Cinema is underrated! Good to know I'm not the only one that thinks that.
Great justifications and format for the video. Love how well this was made, akin to some of the best tv analysis youtubers.
Pillows and blankets goes on a tier for me. I just haven’t laughed harder at an episode
I like your ranking a lot!!! I like how you did not neglect later seasons which many people do
I seriously thought this video was from a more established youtuber.. so suprirsed you haven't got more followers.. incredible video and great editing
I know this video is over 2 years old and it's really well made and your personality and tone are wonderful and I watched this list all the way through because of how good your presentation was,
I have to say anyway that you have the worst and most superficial taste of any community fan who has ever compiled a description of every episode.
Placing style over substance throughout the entire list, missing the fact that homages are not parodies and need to have an emotional and resonating throughline for the audience to connect with, claiming that Curriculum Unnavailable (an episode where every single thing is an attempt to stop them moving forward, having ZERO impact on the story) has more story progression than Cooperative Calligraphy (Which reveals that the group has gotten to a point now where they trust each other so much they would rather believe an impossible answer rather than that one of them doesn't belong.)
It's just clear that you like when shiny new sets and costumes are dangled in front of you and that merely referencing your favourite other shows and movies is enough for you to be completely satisfied.
May I reccomend Family Guy and Brooklyn NineNine if that's all that's needed to make you emotional.
ok.
Man....I used to live to mindlessly turn in family guy and just enjoy stupid shenanigans. Haven't been able to do that since season 12 maybe? Could be earlier.
I miss fun family guy
