    One detail about Chicago that even locals miss out on: Chicago has a large number of tiny museums covering incredibly obscure topics.

    • @danomalley2473

      So true. All kinds of interesting places that you can do in an hour or two. The big museums here are world-class, but as such they are huge and could take you days each to fully explore. But the little ones are true gems, and let you explore regular Chicago neighborhoods, which are often overlooked by travelers with limited time.

    Not so much crime as people say on the media eh? Yea, it’s an agenda folks! As a Chicago native, Chicago like any city has bad parts which anyone smart enough would know to not go there. It doesn’t mean Chicago is entirely bad, so don’t be fooled by media! It’s a lovely city, which deep rich history! Our food is amazing, the lakefront, the view, it’s amazing!

    Chicago is easily one of the top ten greatest cities in the world. I've lived in 20 great cities but by far Chicago tops them all. Oprah was correct when she said if Chicago winters weren't so tough everyone would want to live here. Personally I don't mind the winters but if you've never experienced snow then you might be too delicate for the Windy City, especially in February.

      Totally agree. I have lived in many cities in US and a few in Europe and Asia. The common pattern is the hype of a place always exceeds the reality by a big margin and I was shocked when I first visited Chicago since it is the only place where I find it to be quite the opposite. I enjoy NYC however Chicago is my favorite too by far.

I loved the city so much I ended up moving here after the military. I have been here for about two years now and I still love this city so much. I live in the Old Town/Gold Coast area not too far fromt that FoxTrots at 12:34. I definitely think this will be home for quite some time. @@NB-nh2sf I hope you have a great time in July! The gospel fest is in June this year but I’m positive it’ll be something going on in Millennium Park (where all the aforementioned festivals take place) the month you arrive. Actually Millennium Park is celebrating 20 years this summer so there will be a series of free concerts all summer in the park.
      If you love music, it’ll be worth it no matter the genre (musicians and selections are always family friendly) I happened to be in the park one summer afternoon and the symphony orchestra happened to be hosting a concert, it was such a beautiful experience!
      All of the music festivals are free to enter (except Lollapalooza but that’s in Aug), just be sure to bring your own chair! They usually have food trucks and different vendors out as well. The music festivals usually last thorough the weekend each summer month.

      Although not sure if I would recommend Logan Square or not. When I was a kid, my dad had a place there. It's been decades since I was last in that part of town, and I am sure it must be greatly improved since my childhood. But I still remember hearing those occasional gun shots. Two tips for your next trip back. Take the Architecture Cruise out of Navy Pier. You get a good view and history lesson of the city. And go to the top of the John Hancock building for dinner or a cocktail at the Signature Room for a great view of the city.

    • @davidw7
      @davidw7 11 місяців тому +3

      The Signature room just closed abruptly and not to reopen citing severe economic hardship that did not have enough business to return even since C*vid. Perhaps a drinks bar that opened at the 360 observation deck that is just above it on the 94th floor to view the city from above did not help.... though you pay a feet to go to that floor with discounted citypass tickets worth it for multiple city attractions for tourist.
      Perhaps someone else will reopen the cocktail lounge again that housed the Signature room in the future? Time will tell as so many other places like rooftop ones today to compete with.

    Born and raised and create many real estate videos about Chicago! Your video is super-fun!! Chicago is so great! Random things: Starbucks Reserve is an old Crate and Barrel building and RJ Grunts is the first restaurant of the Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant Company. They kept it open because it was the first. Great milkshakes! Nice job!

    Born and raised in Chicago… went to school downtown and I worked at the Hancock building … had such a beautiful view. Then moved over to the NBC tower and the view was even more spectacular. Now I live in the burbs and my view is a parking lot. lol!! Love my city! Wish my kids can experience what I experienced

    Welcome to Chicago even though I guess you’ve already been and gone. Glad you enjoyed your brief stay. There is so much to do and see here, as you could tell. I love it here of course I wished that you had taken the time to actually be able to explore Navy Pier. And I’m glad you enjoyed the food. While you were at the Cubs game, it would’ve been a perfect time to have a real Chicago dog but I’m glad you enjoyed your veggie dog! hope to see you back in Chicago. Have a great Alaskan cruise. That’s another wonderful thing to do and wonderful sites of people you’ll be coming across on that.

    Deep dish pizza is tourist pizza. True Chicago style pizza is thin crust, square cut tavern style. But great video. So glad you liked the city. If you liked Lincoln Park Zoo, you need to check out Brookfield Zoo just outside the city. Another place to check out would be the Green Mill (a former speak easy owned by Al Capone) and not to mention Second City.

    • @johnmininger7472
      @johnmininger7472 11 місяців тому +1

      Ha! I love hearing the debate on this ... and whether or not it is even pizza at all! I know tavern style pizza is preferred amongst Chicagoans but I don't know if I would go so far as to say Deep dish pizza is exclusively tourist food when you can find some of the best spots in locations outside of where the majority of the tourists go. Anyway, I am more familiar with Chicago than your typical tourist but I do not live there so I don't have a say. I live in Indiana and frequent Chicago, easily one of my favorite cities. Moving to Indiana was really the first time I had exposure to the tavern style pizza you are referring to and it is common here. I can't say it is my favorite, but my wife is a NYC native and I'm originally from the Philly area, so there may be a bit of bias in that opinion, lol.

    I've lived here for over 20 years, and you did more in your first 3 days than I did in my first 3 years! LOL. So next time make time to visit some of the museums, they're all fantastic. Also visit the top floors of the Willis Tower (aka Sears Tower) and the Hancock Building! There's also quirky little tours like the Gangster tour that covers Al Capone and John Dillinger. I moved here from a smaller city where I would go to a concert every weekend, but in Chicago I would get so frustrated because there would be multiple concerts on any given night that I would have to choose who I wanted to see/hear more!

    Remember beautiful memories as a kid being in Chicago's front yard park in 68-69 and looking at the impressive skyline that was so much smaller like Boston . Grant park is a great place at dusk to be in the summertime, listening to a free concert outdoors. 14:09
