My grandson stopped and watched with me for a couple minutes. Then asked is he a good fisherman, I had to smile and said " yea hes kinda a big deal"! Thanks Roland!
If I could have one Christmas present for the rest of my life, it would be to go fishing with you Roland. My whole life I have watched you as a pro fisherman. And you seem like the classiest nicest guy. When I was very very young probably 25 yrs ago I begged my parents to buy me the helicopter lure set. Because I watched Roland Martin catch bass on it and I just knew they would help me catch bass . And wouldn't you know I got in the mail . And I watched that old vhs of how to rig and use them. And sure enough that summer on our vacation to Montana I caught an almost 6lbr. I was only 6 or seven at the time and It was almost as big as me. Thank you Roland, without even knowing you have helped me be a better fisherman and a good guy. Your the greatest.
Roland you Scott an Bill dance are the ideals i have watched since i was a lil guppy enjoy watchijg the vids an the info you all give out while fishing thank you and merry Christmas
GM- Bingo. It took me a few years to realize that this bait is incredible for Bass at night, and Barefoot Bassin' was right on with the dog days comment.
Nice fish. I end up catching most my big bass on my crappie setup. My 22in Smallmouth and a 26in largemouth they are fun on 6lb fireline. Great video now I need to go try out chadderbaits using new knowledge thank you very much Mr. Roland it helps me out on the water!
Great lesson when you leave some of the "realism" in the video (when the legend got his bait stuck). Good video. I have found that chatterbaits are by far THE BEST nighttime Bass baits.
I'd love to have Roland come with me to Bass Pro and help me pick out some rods/reels and tackle. There's so much to learn! If you're ever up here in VA Roland look me up!
I sometimes use a 6" curly tail worm or 5" grub as a trailer along grass and ledges. Darks with darks, lights with lights, try to match the color of the bait.
Sometimes the everglades remind me of the granite barrens here in Ont. I like to powerfish the smaller waters on the barrens too. Lots of water to cover, thick as soup, sometimes.
Roland, I absolutely love watching you fish. You seem like such a patient teacher and I have learned so much from watching you fish over the years. I’ve watched you since I was just about my son’s age at 9 years old, I’m 36 now and still get excited every time I see you upload a video! I do have a question for you as well...when you are fishing your chatterbait and get a strike, I noticed you kind of slow your retrieve, do you slow it down or just let it sit there with the hope that the bass will think it stunned it and come back for it?
The Jack Hammer chatterbait is unique because it produces a "hunting" action. At slow speeds it's like any other chatterbait, but get it up to speed & it'll dart around erratically. It's also $15-20. You just have to watch it when it's close to see if you're cranking it fast enough, & do that for every different reel you use. Also, this isn't a highly pressured body of water, so the bass are bigger & less wary. Chatterbaits aren't magic lures that guarantee big bass, but they are good lures.
Hites bladed jig rod by evergreen is the jaguar, its a 7'3" heavy power moderate action. Daiwa makes a more affordable rod same specs. Id like to get my hands on his evergreen rod and try it. I use a powell 755 cb which is 7'5" med heavy mod fast. Works pretty well., the new picasso shock blade pro is legit to.
I had a fish break my line on a black and blue chatterbait during the big bass bash on the lake of the ozarks in October 😢😩😲😨😵🎣. I will be back to get my revenge 😠
I treat my braid with real magic, and, also, use a braid with the most strands,so its rounder and smoother. The bass pro braid is great, suffix 832, but now I use berkley firelines, dont like the color so I use plastic dye pins to darken 5-6 feet at the end, Love it though.
@@RolandMartinOutdoors please do, you would make the world happy again if you come in there and show them youngsters how to get it done. I and many other look forward to seeing you on the bassmaster series soon 👍
strange ghost If that was the case then there would be no lures except Live Target type lures. People have been catching Bass on spinners for a long time before the chatter bait was invented. Not saying they don’t work, I just see it as a new way for lure companies to make money. All you need is a Worm, a spinner, and a floating Rapala and you will catch bass in almost any condition IMHO.
Chatterbait is more like a jig, but better for stained water, after a storm, fishing at night, and low-light conditions. Spinning bait is more like a crankbait, better when fish are schooling, more clear conditions, bright days and clearer water. Obviously there are exceptions.

I loved that getting the bait hung up made it into the video. A bit of what us regular people deal with a lot. I love the education.
Roland deserves his own fishing show. I don’t care if it’s on Netflix or cable TV I’ll watch it!
Come out with your fins up! My favorite Roland Martin quote. Makes me chuckle every time lol
Roland has caught so many fish, doesn’t even get excited!! Roland your the King of fishing, good information!!!

Jimmy Houston too.
Hey Rolie been following you for years, now I got Scott and your granddaughter on you tube. Thanks for the many years of doing what you do.
I just learned quite a bit about chatter-baits. Thanks Roland.
A chatter bait is amazing as a night time bait too
Night time in the dog days of summer 👍👊🏻

Wow. Cool place Roland. Keep up the good videos friend!
Water temp is med 70's in December....I live one state north and is 34 degrees outside. I'm moving.
Nice job Roland I always learn something!!!! Thank You!!! I need to fish Florida
It's almost Christmas and he's fishing in shorts early morning 😐 tropic life 😎
That winter bite sure can get tough.
I just want to thank roland for teaching me how to fish better
Great bait at night too. I use a strike king menace for trailer. The best info as always Roland. Thanks
Thanks for the tips Roland.Great job as usual
I love the fact that Roland catches a beast and then with little fanfare removes the hook and then a release , my would've been going nuts for sure!

Good info
in December Florida or Texas can enjoy the chatter bait bounty but its float and fly time here in the PNW. Tight lines and to all a Merry Christmas
I would say that you make it look easy but being a Chatterbait fisherman for years I have to admit the bait is extremely fisherman friendly!
Watch the strike at the 6:00 mark. This is what line watching is all about! Thanks for such amazing tips to help us out Roland!

I'm loving all these videos on fishing senkos, chatterbaits, etc.... Can you do a video on how and when do you choose which lure to fish?
Thank you for sharing Roland!

Thanks for sharing Roland👍
Gotta love some Roland !!!!
It's amazing how many bass hit a lure on the drop. Especially Rattletraps. I just turn the reel handle one turn and one's on.
I've had amazing luck all year on rattle traps. Especially the tiny trap. Small and you wouldn't think you'd get much luck but it dominates.
Thanks so much for that video.
I enjoyed it.
I've got about 4 chatterbaits in my tackle box I've barely fished with. Maybe it's time to give them another shot.

Another great teaching session Mr. Martin. Can you use chatterbaits from the bank?
Roland I love your videos. My question is; does a chatter bait work well when the water temperature is below 50 degrees?
Yes, it's a great cold water lure!
😂 “Water temperature is in the 70s. It’s basically wintertime.”
Look at that melanoma just Kickin!..........
Ive been using just 10 lbs braid and a crank bait and i been having lots of big catches it depends on this weather.
Several of my friends fish for big Redfish with 10 pound braid. They cast a mile and have long soft action rods!
Mr Roland. When you say Lake Seminole. Do you mean the one in Largo/Clearwater Florida?
On the FL-GA line
Roland what about using braid with a long flouro leader?
Excellent choice!
@@RolandMartinOutdoors Awesome. Thank you sir.
Excelent Goodfather 👍 felicidades
Roland, I’m going to be in Ft. Myers in Jan. How hard is it to get on those old gravel pits, need special permission?
I've had to ask around a lot! Getting permission is hard to do!
Thank You

One question. What gear ratio is the reel?
How are the chatter baits for smallmouth

Great now I want to throw nothing but a Chatterbait next time out lol
2:40 did ya just seen the Loch Ness Monster???
Fun!
Could someone be able to use a ChatterBait in saltwater fishing for black Rockfish and lingcod. And would it work for saltwater fishing
I live in Florida. It's amazing how many lures produce fish in salt water as well as fresh.
Let's try it
Because I was actually thinking about using a ChatterBait and saltwater fishing for black Rockfish and Lingcod fishing in saltwater fishing
What is that blue cap on the butt of your rod?
I don't remember what they're called, but it's to add cushion so you can brace the rod against your stomach.
Cush-it
This is like fishing with your grandpa.
Now I have to look in my lures that i inherited to see if i have any of these chatter baits😆

I lose so many fish on a chatterbait. I even bought a rod just for it.
chatterbait is a big deal son
does anyone not sponsored by favorite actually use their stuff? ive never been anywhere and seen a average joe with one.
The Googans sold a lot on line for the lasts two years. That's what got the company going in the first place!

Oh son... was not a 5-6 pounder son, lol. Get a scale and do a video... guess the weight then weigh the fish. "That's a 6 or 7 pounder" LOL
