I took your advice over 30 years ago on pitching and flipping. you used to say one of the important things to do is practice and that's what I do. I used to put my boat in the middle of the yard and put 5 gallon buckets all over the place and different distances and practice hitting each one of them. a lot of people that I do go fishing with are not big bass fisherman they are more live bait or a fisherman and they don't understand when I see a tree in the water I go right over there and throw my date right in the middle. they always say the same thing that I'm going to get hung up and at this point in my life I don't even bother to explain to them why this won't happen. thank you for all your good advice over the years I am so grateful that I found your UA-cam channel. Look forward to your next video.
Roland, you’ve been a bass fishing hero of mine since the late 60’s. I watch your videos as time allows for and I’m still learning thanks to you. I’m in my 70’s now and as long as I can get out on the water, I’ll be fishing. Helps keep you young!
ROLAND, you are the MAN. You're Extremely Accurate with presenting the lure to the Fish. Practice, Practice, Practice. Professionally Efficient for the Senior Age. THANKS Again for a Fantastic Video. Keepem coming. SON!
I just took my first trip to Okeechobee this week and my guide spent half the morning trying to teach me this. I learned an amazing amount of info seeing first hand. I had a bad habit of loudly throwing a bait by something -no bites I moved on. The guide showed me flipping and pitching 360 degrees around some cat tails and he would find a bass when I did not. I will be practicing this. I realized I have wasted alot of opportunities over the years. I have probably passed many, many fish. Thank you very much for this video, that was very valuable info.
This was more that i have learned on youtube in the least amount of time, i'm 73 yrs old and this has helped more then i can say THANKS for all the great info!
If roland tells me to pitch a frying pan, I'd do it. He is the voice if authority. Love his shows. Love his expertise. Love his teaching. Roland is hitting the Frisbee with almost every pitch and flip. Just amazing. Just subbed. Cuz the Master is speaking.
Thanks for this. I'm new bass fisherman and have been passing up large swaths of grass and cover because I did not know how to fish it. Again, thank you.
@@xDx0xUxGx Damn those were the days..my friend and I would watch those shows and then immediately ride our bikes to our local pond to fish trying to be like them lol
Howdy from Central Texas! Tomorrow I am going to go look for the heaviest cover I can find on the Guadalupe river and use these techniques. Thanks for the tips..and the confidence. You are the best bass fishing teacher I’ve ever seen. Thank you again! God Bless. Fish On🎣
Roland thanks for the advice and demonstration of your flipping and pitching techniques. You were a legend then and your still are today with a lot of us. Great Teacher.....
Thanks Mr. Martin, another great video. I’ve been fishing for 40 years but just started learning to pitch last year. One thing I’ve realized is that it’s a huge advantage not having to switch hands with the rod once the bait hits the water. I reel a bait caster right handed so I made a point to learn to pitch with my left arm to avoid having to do the switch. Makes me feel extra ready for the times when I get a strike as soon as it hits the water. It was a little frustrating at first but the effort paid off. Only took a few trips out on the water and some practicing at home. Long story short; I would recommend that if someone wants to learn to flip and pitch that they learn to throw with whatever arm not used to crank the reel. Just my 2 cents. Thanks again!
I switch hands but am ready to set the as it hits the water because my left hand I now on the reel before it hits the water and my right hand needs only to start reeling.
I love this style of fishing. A great teacher is one who inspires people. I'm going out tomorrow to practice, and if I catch some then that's just gravey.
When you do these “How to videos” you should put in the description what you use, rod, reel, line etc. Love your vids. You are a true legend in the industry. Keep up the great work
@@larry_9982 you don't need a 75k bass boat to catch a lot of fish! You also don't need the most expensive gear! Dobyns fury series 🔥 Shimano SLX 🔥 budget bro!
Brandon Schott Fitness I went back and listened to what he was using but when most UA-camrs do these instructionals they post what they use in the description. Just trying to help him out. Love this guy and just want him to succeed to the fullest.
The man himself!! I'm lucky to have you to learn from. You've been fishing longer than I've been alive, you have to much knowledge that with the advent of social media im glad you got a platform because we need all the info you can give.
Thanks for the channel Roland. Truly one of the all time best fisherman dropping jewel's on us. I booked a charter through your marina 2 months ago had a decent day. Coming back at the end of this month. I'd love to hit some summer bass. (It is the sole reason I drive 17 hours down there)
That helped a lot sir. Thank you much. You make these videos like its almost a one on one session with Mr. Roland Martin himself. I appreciate the sharing of knowledge. Thank you again sir.
Its like going fishing with a friend who's adept at catching fish along with a teacher giving valuable lessons to boot, the best of both worlds - having fun while learning and improving your skills.
Another Great video !!! Thanks for the tips.. This is something that I need to really practice on sitting on the ground.. I fish from a kayak and I found it hard to do being so low to the water .. Awesome teaching video ... Keep'em coming .... Tight lines and Great days fishing ... God Bless ..

Great video Roland! It is awesome to watch you perform these techniques! I really appreciate the advice you give us concerning where and when flipping and pitching can be used to improve our bass fishing results. I just started flipping and pitching last year and I hope to develop that kind of accuracy and soft delivery for my flipping and pitching one day. Thank you once again for inspiring me to aspire for better from myself! Thanks again!
Mr Martin, Your UA-cam channel is really coming along great. Thank you for taking the time to make and share them with us. I have been meaning to write THIS comment on several other previous videos...the only thing I would recommend is can you please use one of those clip-on microphones (the separate ones that attach onto your shirt)? Because unless you are directly close to the camera microphone it becomes difficult to hear you. The one on your shirt would allow you to move around and still be loud and clear for us. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Blessings continue for you, your family, and friends. +++
Thanks Roland! You are awesome! I learn so much from you everytime. Then I can't wait to get on the lake to try what I learned. I have watched you since I was a kid. So, glad you are on UA-cam!

Living legend. So much respect for this man. I grew up watching his fishing videos back in the early 90s.
Same here!! Nice to see hes still passionate
Roland Martin, Hank Parker and Bill Dance were my go-to shows when I was learning how to fish.
Doug Kichman i’d throw in Kevin Vandam in that list also. I still remember Bill Dance’s old intro song, gone fishin’ by memory.
KVD is more recent and more specifically a crankbait/jerkbait go-to for me
