I DIDN'T EXPECT to See This in BGC PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭

- In this video, I head back out to BGC to top up my SIM card and take a walk around BGC.
Little did I know I'd run into an unfortunate situation. I have traveled around Southeast Asia a lot during the last year and have come to notice how the living condition of some cats around Metro Manila is extremely poor.
I'd hate to see these cats struggle more, so I tried to help a little by giving them some food and water.
Anyways, come along for another vlog where I talk about why else I've come back to the Philippines and what other problems I am running into again.

Pls it’s will wiser and convenient for you to stay in BGC or Manila for now . Check out Mergim vlog he has over 100k subscribers
Manila sure is a sensory overload. Travelling cheap here will get you to the city's gritty areas but you can hop on to those modern a/c jeepneys or buses which are way cheaper, safer and comfier. Tho sometimes crowded, that's another way to interact & feel the local vibes. At the transport hub in market-market, you can take the Metrolink bus to Eastwood or the shuttle bus to Makati's financial district. Also checkout the busses at the EDSA carousel which will take you all the way to MOA. LRT 2 trains can take you to Ortigas, Cubao and other malls and CBDs. These beat the expensive Grab and bike ride fares.
Having been born & raised here and lived in Cali for 30 yrs, I still get some shivers every now and then...
Thanks! @clementenaidasjr.3368
Ah I know. I need to see if there is anything in my budget as it's preferred there. @@difab4052
Awesome! Thanks for much for the detailed info. I'll have to check all those out! @@pteoco
thanks for feeding the kitties matt. you've got a big kind heart. god bless you
Yes, I try to help where I can. A little goes a long way sometimes. 😊
That ,y, support this guy's good manners
It’s really nice of you feeding the kittens. My parents used to say that if you are kind to animals especially the small kittens and puppies you’ll be bless
Being kind to small and newborn animals is similar to being kind to children. They've yet to see and explore much of life so we must give them a chance. 😊❤️
Nonsense. I sm kind to animals. People still keep trying and some still take too much of my energy. There needs to be sn SPCA here in Laguna.
Thank you, sir, for providing food and assistance to those poor kittens. I sincerely wish I could also contribute and find someone willing to provide them with a safe shelter.
Let's hope they've got a bright path forward of comfort. ❤️🇵🇭
Just keep posting content. Since you're just starting, it's quite normal not to earn much at first. I would also suggest you explore other areas in the Philippines; airfares and accommodation aren't that costly. The struggle is real when you're just starting, but when Filipinos find you interesting, I am confident that you can become as popular as other UA-camrs who started with only a few followers and low engagement when they first arrived here, such as The Hungry Syrian Wanderer, Juicy Vlogs, Kuya Jake, Finn Snow, Kyle "Kulas" Jennerman, Mergim, and many more (I can't remember all their names). I hope that your channel will grow bigger.
Yes, I know this. I've been making videos for a few years now. Sometimes it's harder to grow when you move around to many different countries. Other times, it's easier. But yes you are right, if you base yourself in countries like the Philippines or Malaysia, your content will grow fast. And as we can see many of those UA-camrs have shown the success. Thanks! 😃
Ali started like 40K in the Philippines and grew it to almost or 500k now in a few months, Mergim took almost a year but now hes almost 200K and is now living in BGC.
YEah it's true. We will see how it goes
There are signs NOT to feed the cats. They are,all vetted and neutered.
Yes some cats...kittens that young can't be. Actually, a lot of people feed the cats on High Street. If no one didn't, they'd be out of control bothering people instead of sleeping haha
Bro, daily vlogging and upload while your in the PH will help your channel to grow and draw more audience you just have to make your presence visible and interact with locals these things can bring you more closèr to local subs, nothing to lose if you try. Goodluck my man!
Of course, I know that. Daily vlogging takes a lot of time and effort. Most who do it, don't have to work another job. Maybe one day i'll get there! :)

Really appreciate how you attended those poor kittens.
By the way, that $600 airbnb in a bad area like that is a no no. You are being ripped off.
At $800-$1k you can find decent condo in BGC which is worlds away in terms of convenience and living quality compared to your current airbnb.
If that $800-1k price range is off your budget, you can try Ortigas-Greenfield district. At 30k pesos ($500-$600) apartment in that area is very decent. That district also offers convenience and access to almost everything yo need, although it's not just in par with BGC in terms of the glamour and fanciness. It's main advantage compared to BGC though is you have very close access to major transportation gateways of Metro Manila like the MRT-3 and the EDSA highway. Just search on youtube or do a google map street view so you can get a glimpse of that district.
Ah that is right! Good info there. Thanks!
I've visited Ortigas recently and see how it could be a good option to stay. Maybe next time. Next time, I will need to prepare more money for a better area, such as in BGC, Makati, SM MOA, or Ortigas like you mentioned.
Hey bro, nuevo amigo mabuhay
While watching your video i believe your video today is about searching for the right place that close to your heart and you know that you will never regret the cat was the sign to choose stay in the Philippines everything happens for a reason either a blessings or a lesson ❤️ ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Bienvenidos mi amigo! Haha maybe...I know i'll always return for sure! Philippines is one of my favorite countries to date!
@MattReardonVlogs I bet . Keep rolling, bro ! 😘😔😍🇵🇭👍
You should check out Clark city by Tarlac. Less hectic than Manila and it has a modern airport. If you are into small city this is perfect place to get apartment which can be cheaper than Manila.
Actually, I prefer smaller cities with a population of a couple million or less. So, one day i'll for sure make it up there and explore more of Luzon.
Enjoy your vacation in the Philippines 🇵🇭 thank you
Thanks! Sure will!
Please visit;
1.) Ayala avenue Makati
2.) Greenbelt 1 ,2,3,4 Makati
3.) BGC burgos circle at night

You should explore more of Ph provinces, it ha smuch more to offer with natural sceneries.. more power to you channel and hope you get more views and subs
Eventually, i'll make my way to other provinces for sure. This trip is just focused on the city. Will need to save for further travels here :)
Again never a boring moment with your stories 💙 Giniling one of my fav dishes. My mom made it with potatoes, carrots and peas. Simple but yet so yummy.
Passport Dude is a new American vlogger. He went to Quezon Memorial Circle. I thought he was gonna go inside the museum but he didn’t. I’m curious and would like to see what’s inside.
Those kittens melts my heart. Thanks for feeding them.
Woah!! With potatoes sounds delicious! Quezon City is quite far from me but sounds fun. Hopefully they've found a good home. :)
Dont forget to go see the beach..Batangas is the closiest area...less tourist, but close to Manila.
Ahh and close to MOA I think?
The traffic is pretty heavy in that part of SM Aura. The traffic enforcers are needed because they can decide whether a portion of the street needs longer time to clear the cars as compared to the other streets. During rush hour in the morning, more cars are going inside bgc (for work) than going out. The opposite is true in the afternoon where more cars are leaving bgc than coming in.
Ah right! Now I am seeing how important they are in such areas and situations
Welcome and enjoy! Subscribed!👍
Thank you! Welcome here! :)
Lookin forward for more of you philippines adventure.. Hope you could visit siargao, boracay, palawan🇵🇭❤️🙏
Yes, me too! One day, I will. Will need a few trips for that and to not be working so much. 😃
Yeah its sad u many see street cats on bgc, but i tell u usa is more worst than that,
if u go to California, la , or dallas in any street during night , there plenty of homeless , addict, and straight dangerous pl roaming around.
Yes, the homeless situation in the US is out of control, that I know. Also, the drug addiction is super serious but doesn't compare to cats. We have strays in the US but not on a level of SEA or Latam.
Live it up! Philippines is the best!
Going to enjoy it while I can! :)
7 miles around BGC is cubao hotel around $13 / day like Glory hotel check around the area. Stay local for now until you are financially rewarded. Just get motorbike for hire for your mobilty.
Ahh wow that's cheap!! Motorbikes are convenient but sometimes dangerous
Salcedo Village Makati and Legazpi Village Makati are both nice areas to stay in. They're like BGC but with more character. It's also cheaper to stay there than BGC
Interesting! I think i've heard of the Salcedo. Is it near or in Makati?
@@MattReardonVlogs Salcedo Village and Legazpi Village are two nice neighborhoods in Makati's central business district. They border each other, and Ayala Avenue is the border.
Cool! I'll check it out next week hopefully!
Glad you came back you’ll enjoy this country regardless of the country’s problem in poverty
Yes, that is right. No matter what a country is going through, there are people and places that will allow every tourist to have fun.
You are correct used to be South Koreans eat cats before their country became progressive. Pls check out Mergim vlogs he just blogs mostly around BGC and sometimes Manila or outside Manila. His viewers were over 10k and subscribers 140k . He was patient and tried hard to reach where he’s at now
Ah interesting! Yes, i've seen a few of his videos. Good stuff!
I see more poverty in NEWYORK RATHER THAN BGC TAGUIG😂😂😂 NEWYORK HAVE RATS BIG AS CATS…. I’ve rather choose CATS 🐈 😅😅😅WE DONT SEE POVERTY ON THIS VIDEO,, its ULTRA MODERN AND FANCY BGC🎉🇵🇭🏙️🏙️🏙️

5:58 ppl prefer data over public wifi bc its much safer lol, the registration thing is new (they added it to stop spammers, scammers, and troll farms from obtaining mass amounts of sim cards given how social media is such a huge thing in the ph)
10:28 usually the developers (like ayala) would take care of stray animals (u would usually see feeding stations around bgc and makati) but locals also feed them and take care of them. there are also local orgs that help the local government w/ spray and neuter programs.
ex. my uni feeds animals in the area, we even have adoption programs for them (one cat even had a graduation ceremony and received an alumni card when he got adopted)
AHH okay that makes sense now. Yes, I have mostly seen the assistance in BGC, Makati, and Eastwood City. There are a lot of organizations and groups giving a helping hand which is good. :)
Just do your thing and once filipinos notice your channel ypu will gain subscribers. enjoy your stay.
Of course. Got to take it day by day. Thanks! :)
Lot of vlogger foreingers live in philippines because she loves philippines
Yes, it is very true. Great country!
Why dont u take a bus to go to Tagaytay city, its very famous as well only a couple of hours from Manila or less, it has the smallest active volcano in the world and the Starbucks most beautiful view in the world plus its colder there, pine trees, mushroom burger, alamid coffee (coffee from an animal), twin lakes Tagaytay. Also theres Alabang (Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Molito Alabang, Azumi Hotel) theres a P2P bus from Market Market and vice versa to Alabang and its a non stop bus its very fast and convenient, theres also Nuvali in Sta Rosa with Koi Pond, Paseo, Home depot, newly opened Landers, greeneries, Enchanted Kingdom in Sta Rosa. also a couple hours away from Twin Lakes Tagaytay is Nasugbu White Sand Beaches in Batangas no need to ride a plane to go to Boracay, Palawan, Bohol specially if ure just starting and doesnt earn as much, its cheaper to go around from Manila by Land, Explore and dont do what most youtube vloggers always do everyday, no need to spend on fares so much and stay in expensive hotels in famous islands as of now. Not many foreigners know how Manila isnt the only place in Luzon that u can travel by land, so many tourist spots here, like Hot Springs in Los Banos Laguna, etc. Filipino Boo explored the Batangas and Philippines with a very tight budget and started as 5K followers. Now he is staying at a 1 bedroom condo in Quezon City near SM North Edsa.
Hi! Simple reason: don't have the time, working every day. If UA-cam was my full-time job, i'd be everywhere in the Philippines by now haha.
Thank you for the recommendations and information, I hope to visit in the near future when I have the ability to do so. Hopefully that day comes but for now, I'll have to enjoy what I can do :)
Try Z Hostel in Makati. I recommend this place
But Hostel isn't so work-friendly. More party. What's it like?
I think there are CHEAPER CONDOS in Makati, or even in BGC area, well within the $400-600 budget you are paying with your current airbnb.
Yes, there are some but regarding Airbnb, most were already booked as it is a popular time. Better to book ahead of time I found out.

In Vietnam you cannot see like those cats, cause Vietnamese eat all the cats and dogs 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Omg
I bet no wildlife too. They ate all including monkeys.
I heard they eat cats and dogs
@@difab4052 the mainland Chinese has dog markets.
Not all Vietnamese though. Yes, i've seen the dogs as street food and it's a bit disturbing but for some of them, they know no different. :(

I tried to help. Hopefully they were adopted or will be. Quite cute! ❤️

Filipinos don't eat cats, that's why 😂 AFAIK those cats are being fed regularly just like in the Makati area.
It's a good thing. Ah yes, I noticed, many are pretty chunky cats haha
Why not try visiting Tondo or the Happy Land? Slum tourism is getting popular among foreign vloggers.

Problem with cats, they are selective with what they eat. Dogs can eat vege, meat, everything else.
This is true. Mainly carnivores. Meant to eat meat. Cats shouldn't be vegans like some of their owners.
As a Filippino Much Better Thailand or Vietnam
Been to both many times. Lived in Thailand. Both have pros and cons as well.

You can make a lot of money being a youtuber in the Philippines but you have to be serious about it. You can't be a part time youtuber and expect to become a hit. Focus and dedication is needed in order to succeed as a youtuber.
It's quite difficult to become a successful youtuber in Vietnam if you are a foreigner because the majority of the Vietnamese don't understand English. You don't have an audience in Vietnam. That's why the Philippines is the ideal place for youtubers. Aside from a variety of content to make in the Philippines, the Filipinos also don't mind being included in the video. Of course you still have to ask for permission to include them in the video as a sign of respect to the people.
100% agree. That is why many UA-camrs actually save up a lot of money, quit their job, and go travel Southeast Asia for 3-12 months with the goal of UA-cam replacing their job before their money runs out. And truth is that many video creators who are making money, don't always make enjoyable content (I included sometimes). Good videos take preparation and living/learning. These are all things I have realized after making videos in SEA for a year. Just got to try and stick around the area longer.
@@MattReardonVlogs Try to do a collab with known youtubers. That is the fastest way to be known by the Filipino audience. There are a lot of youtubers living in bgc.
One thing I can suggest though is not be overly pessimistic or negative person. Don't complain a lot. The Filipino audience prefer the jolly content creators. Don't bash the Philippines or you will lose your audience. 😅
Absolutely understand. Will see how it goes,
unsolicited: want views and subs, quit negatives.
Dang...I made a whole video of negatives? Shame on me! 😂

Bro. Your here to make money. Just be honest. Your already telling everything else about the country.
