Zakk is awesome, my first time seeing him I got to meet him, and got a pick from him. It was on the Sonic Brew tour, the funny part is it was a show that was never scheduled. Zakk was stuck in town, and didn't want to sit in a hotel room, so he booked a small local venue. He called the local rock radio station, and had them announce it. Going to that show, only cost me $1.01, and I got to hear a ton of stuff off Stronger Than Death before it was released.
Not bad at all for a show that wasn’t even meant to happen. I only got to see BLS once but it was incredible! Zakk sprayed spit all over himself throughout the concert. Then I heard he rarely showered but I’m not sure I believe that. Zakk has a hilarious sense of humor.
@@PistolsPlayground that is a cool story! @@guitarmeetsscience you’re welcome. It did feel like a real hang almost house party like cause it was a small crowd. Like 150-200 people I guess. I stood right directly in front of him when he played not 5 ft from him. He stopped mid show and took a few crowd questions and requests. I got to ask him a question about Pride & Glory. Then after he played he went inside and a line formed where he did an autograph signing and I got to speak to him again and he signed my guitar strap and my copy of No Rest For The Wicked CD which I had ti stop and buy in the way cause I only had a cassette version. Got to ask him about playing with Ozzy and writing with Geezer. It was a very personal kindve appearance cause those things can be BS.
I'm a boomer along with Zakk, born in the sixties like his fallen brother Dime. Anyone from that generation knows a guitar god when they hear them and I've seen too many comments from younger people bashing Zakk who are absolutely clueless and have no idea what an incredible dedicated player he is. Met him at OZZFEST and he was the most normal standup rockstar I've ever met. Goes out of his way to accommodate his fans. Did double duty that day with BLS and Oz. If you've never seen him live you're missing out on a show you won't forget 🤘🎸
Very cool story and I really like your take on Zakk! It's true a lot of the players nowadays just don't appreciate that. Zakk as always been hardworking And truly dedicated to his craft. Thanks for your comment!

New to your channel and just commented on a previous video I watched before this on Pantera. You do a great job on the info you present in these videos. I'm glad you actually write and read/speak the commentary vs using AI... I met Zakk a few times after Dime's passing. He is such a stand up dude it's no wonder they were best friends, along with how hard they loved to party back in the day. hahaha It's amazing that Zakk is sober now for many years and can still write great music and hang on the road. The road is FILLED with drugs and alcohol and it is really cool to see him not give into that shit. I mean, he has a really good reason so that makes it easier, but there are so many out there that would have relapsed and died... :/ Love Zakk!!
