I'm 46 years old and I started crying when I came across this vlog. I've been dealing with trich since I was a child and my family made me feel so ashamed about it. I've never known anyone else with this condition so I've always felt horrible about it.

i have trich and i pull out my eyebrows and eyelashes. it started around 3 years ago although its only gotten really bad this year. ive told my mom about having trich but she doesnt believe it to be a real condition and claims that its just a thing of self control so anytime i tell her about it she just tells me to control myself and stop. its really frustrating.

Thank you for this video I’ve been pulling my eyelashes since I was in middle school I used to pack on eyeliner to hide it and rarely cleaned the eyeliner completely off because I was so scared of being judged. I finally stopped wearing makeup and now my glasses are my cover-up and my confidence. No one really understands, everyone says that I’d be prettier with eyelashes but it's really hard when eyelashes are growing back and you can feel them bugging you and you just really really want to pull them.

I came across this video when my friend reached out and told me that there's videos of people who have the same disorder as I do. I get really swollen eyes and can't explain it and I sometimes pinch my eyelids and get sty's so this was really inspiring. I love how positive you are about it. I'm crying because I just recently found that there's a reason why I do it. This video helps so much. Me and my friends are really in love with makeup and its been really hard doing eye makeup. i’ve suffered from trich for most of my life, primarily on my eyelashes. something i’ve found to work really well without damaging any lashes i still have is using a brown colored eyeshadow to fill in my lash line. it fills the bald spots and makes my lashes look much more full without harming them with mascara (which triggers my pulling) or eyelash curlers

    • @KawaiiAznPanda7

Can you go more into detail about the coconut oil? Did it actually help and about how long did it take until they grew back?

    • @brandyholder1246
      @brandyholder1246 2 роки тому

Honey if you can make it 4 months without pulling them all back out and able to deal with them beyond that point, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP WHILE YOU CAN!!!
I am about to turn 37 and have been pulling my eyelids completely bald top and bottom since the 3rd grade. My last attempt of growing them out (which took over a month and was painful and endlessly annoying) ended with me rubbing my itchy watery eyes from pollen one good time and most of them just rubbing right off when I did...
See, when you pluck a hair, you essentially damage the follicle and the scalp around the follicle cuz you are removing it with root intact. Well, if you do that for long enough, over time the accumulated damage is, well, extensive and more or less permanent. Eventually they won't grow back at all, and the few that do grow back are tiny, thin, and the roots are fragile and just aren't able to "hang in there" anymore...
That last time I tried and failed was absolutely soul crushing and I vowed not to put myself thru it again. I've done it for so long now that living with the disorder and bald lids is much easier for me to deal with than trying to stop... But I feel like if I had tried harder to stop when I was younger when I had the incentive of the other kids bullying me, and before I damaged the follicles beyond repair, maybe I'd have eyelashes now and feel normal. But I just stay depressed all the time and feel awkward if I don't have my eye makeup on cuz I don't think I look right, and that makes me feel some typa way, like I don't feel like myself cuz I don't look like myself and so I don't act like my normal true self cuz I'm too busy doing mental gymnastics constantly...
Yeah, I got issues, I know...

I've had trich since I was in 4th grade. This will hopefully help me. I always feel so self-conscious about what people might think. I also sometimes look back on old photos and see myself with actual eyelashes and silently cry.
P.S Does anyone else feel the pain of when you try to pull out an eyelash but your nails are getting in the way so you try harder and then they slip and hit your eye. This hurts :(

Or when you give up on your fingers cuz now they're sore too and you grab the tweezers (which I am super picky about cuz most of them suck at their job!) and end up poking yourself in the eye with the really pointy part or if they're too good you end up pinching the skin on the lid!! Omfg that shit hurts so much!!!

Melonlicious 4 hey! Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate them. I'm sorry that you have low self esteem, it's pretty easy to fall into that trap dealing with this disorder. I'm so happy that your friends have been accepting though! It makes a huge difference and I'm really glad you're able to be open about it. I hope you inspire people too! Xxx

I just discovered your channel through this video! I’m not sure if I have Trichotillomania, but I do pick my lashes to the point where I think they’re starting to not grow back. And I always felt so ashamed by it and watching your video made me feel so much better. Thank you so much for this. I’m not the best with make up but you’ve inspired me to practice with false lashes and eyeliner more so I’ll feel more comfortable out in public!!! ❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU

I, too, find that after I pull they get REALLY swollen and its hell to cover them up, so thank you. I've had it since 5th grade and my parents told me that if I didn't stop they would use blue sharpie to draw back on my eyebrows. I am so happy that I am not the only one. Great video I have never heard of this disorder until today, although I have had it from around the age of 7, and I am now 40! My obsession is with my lashes only though, and I started pulling them because they felt like they were sticking into my eyeball! I didn't know the irritating poking feeling was actually from allergies. So I pulled them out and kept doing it for years. And I subconsciously do it. I thought I was the only fool like this!! What a relief to know I'm not alone! But unfortunately I don't think mine will ever grow back I mean I get a few in the corners but they grow all crazy directions and you can't really see them they are so thin. So I need all the info I can get on applying lashes, and any info on brands that are the least dramatic for everyday wear and that look as natural as possible. Thanks

Oh wow - that's amazing to go from 30 years of pulling to pull-free. Do you have any tips for me?! I'm sorry that they've grown back like that. I'm assuming you've tested some serums and stuff to grow them? A lot of people rave about the Rapid Lash, haven't been able to tell myself because I pull out my lashes too soon! Otherwise, if you're in the UK, the LVL/Nouveau Lashes extensions look lush. Thank you so much for commenting xxx

Tysm for this video I never thought anyone would be brave enough to make a video online ❤️. I’m twelve so I probably can’t get makeup but this video is still so inspiring😆! Tip: for anyone else who can’t get any makeup or just got trich, you can try saying you got too close to a fire and it burned your eyelashes or eyebrows, I’ve heard true stories about it but I understand if you would feel dishonest doing that. Though it could be a good excuse to last you a couple weeks :’) ps if you start pulling in the day try going around family or friends, sitting on your hands or going for a walk or bike ride :D maybe even grab a snack to distract yourself and watch some tv or read 😊 or just brush over your eyelash with your finger instead of pulling until the urge goes away. You can also find a workout to do in your room if it’s late and your can’t do much :’)

Thanks for the suggestion on Rimmel black liner. I ran to my Target store that supposedly had the pencil you used but they didn't have it so I purchased the Rimmel waterproof gel pencil which I'm very happy with so far I usually use an Urban Decay brown metallic pencil to outline my eyes but metallic doesn't work so good on the waterline. So thank you very much for the black suggestion and brand. Love your videos. ❤

Thank you for this. I have been wearing professionally applied eye lashes for 2.5 years with no breaks in between.
So, I took them off and I have no eye lashes left of my own.
This helped me a lot to begin to learn how to make up bald eyes.
I am quite a bit older than you so that also could be a problem. Do you think cat eyes look good on older women?
