By the late 1960s, America’s burgeoning custom motorcycle scene included “trikes,” wild three-wheeled choppers inspired by the classic Harley-Davidson Servi-Car that was often used by police departments for parking enforcement. For Evil Iron, Revell’s Los Angeles-based designers started with a chrome-plated twin-cylinder 650 cc engine and reworked a rigid frame to create this far-out three-wheeler’s finely detailed chassis. Up front there is a skinny tire on a 21-inch spoked wheel, while out back a pair of reversed five-spoke mags wear super-wide low-profile boots. Evil Iron’s tongue-in-cheek theme starts with a smiling skull atop the sculpted high-back bucket seat that’s covered with a cloak which flows downwards to become the trike’s body. Other details include a double-edged sword, leg iron headlamps, and studded mace ball taillights. After Revell introduced the 1/8-scale Evil Iron kit in 1971 it soon became the model builder’s favorite fantasy trike. Now Evil Iron is back for the first time in decades, ready for old friends and today’s new generation of dreamers.

A chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in California in the late 1950s. The chopper is perhaps the most extreme of all custom styles, often using radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified ("chopped") or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall "ape hanger" or very short "drag" handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels.[1] The "sissy bar", a set of tubes that connect the rear fender with the frame, and which are often extended several feet high, is a signature feature on many choppers.
Perhaps the best known choppers are the two customized Harley-Davidsons, the "Captain America" and "Billy Bike", seen in the 1969 film Easy Rider.
The huge success of the 1969 film Easy Rider instantly popularized the chopper around the world, and drastically increased the demand for them. What had been a subculture known to a relatively small group of enthusiasts in a few regions of the US became a global phenomenon. During the late 1960s, the first wave of European chopper builders emerged, such as the "Swedish Chopper" style, but Easy Rider brought attention everywhere to choppers.[13]
The number of chopper-building custom shops multiplied, as did the number of suppliers of ready-made chopper parts. According to the taste and purse of the owner, chop shops would build high handle bars, or later Ed Roth's Wild Child designed stretched, narrowed, and raked front forks. Shops also custom built exhaust pipes and many of the aftermarket kits followed in the late 1960s into the 1970s. Laws required (and in many locales still do) a retention fixture for the passenger, so vertical backrests called sissy bars became a popular installation, often sticking up higher than the rider's head. - Авто та транспорт

My opinion is "Great video Chris keep em coming and I'll keep watching."
Those spikes are for the tail light mace balls. The glue over the lil round domes. And the sword display rear panel for the body works better placed inside the two main body halves.
Absolutely one of the cooler models. Had one back in the 70's. Models back in that day were between $2-$7. Most of my models fell prey to a BB gun or a firecracker back then. I will definitely have to get this again. I've learned some nice tricks from your building videos. Thanks for taking the time to show these as you build them. Nice job on this one. 👍👍👍

I built this kit in the late 70's or early 80's as a kid. I still have the rear wheels but everything else got lost over the years. As soon as I heard it was being released again I immediately ordered one. It should be in my hands tomorrow. My head is already spinning with paint and detail ideas.
They need to reissue the 1/8th scale big deuce.
That came out nice. I have two of the original. The spikes arefor the rear light housings, to make them look like a morning star. The spear as you call it, is supposed to be some sort of a poleaxe. Beeing a medieval reenactor myself, I will leave out the axe heads on the top of the front end, the poleaxe, and the sword in the back, since they are far from historically correct. But thats just me beeing a medieval nerd 😅

Hi Chris. Your builds keep getting better and better. I like the colour choice the frame looks great in the smoke & mirrors. Very impressed. With old Revell kits I can remember a Pontiac Firebird custom John Travolta kit in the early 80s, I am not sure if it was the same kit in the Hot Rod Magazine series but if it still exists it would be a fun build. I am still a slow builder I have the 76 chevy van by Revell which you built a long while ago, and I hope I can make it as cool as you did. Love the show keep them coming. Thanks Stuart.

Yea. That's a good model. I built that way back in the '70's as a teenager. After while, my bitch sister broke it and I used the rear wheel on a big '63 Vette I built. I see you doing a bunch of models I did way back when I was a kid. Brings back memories. :)
Built this about 30 years ago, but after moving a couple times it didn't survive. My girlfreind said she will buy it for my birthday!!! my brother did one back in '75 0r '76 that the had the body of a dragon, but don't remember what it was called , he passed away in'78 and i don't know what happen to it. wish i could find it and build it as a memorium to him since he was the one who got me started in model building and been doing it ever since i was 14 , i am 62 now . Like your videos.
hey cris am still building my evil iron did you super glue the top and bottom fork pieces on love the kit just a few things i would change like the way the rear tires go on and the front forks i have the grim reaper chopper and the forks were diffrent went togher easy am getting the brown chevy van
I'm always amazed at the creativity of the designers of these custom trikes, and they make interesting model kit subjects. Haven't seen one of the big scale trikes on here for a while. As impressive as these customs are, have you built any stock motorcycle kits?

Didn't take you long to do this build, as you only just recently posted the video where you showed this kit, plus several others.
Just be WARNED: this kit needs a lot of cleanup. And, I have been building for 60 years. It's not an easy kit. So, the tooling, in my opinion, was not cleaned up.
Also, it took 6 hours of sanding to get steering head working properly.
Looking for part number 57 for inner rear wheels. It's supposed to be plated. Non plated part number 104 on another sprue. Worst kit ever.
