      😲 If that's this model...holy cow. It would ultimately be only 1 of 30 made in the year 2000 by GPC. That would be NUTS, considering it's current state of dirt and filth covering it.

      @@GuitarFinds They made more than than that run of 30 in 2000. I think it might be real. The Chinese knockoffs don’t have the Seymour Duncan S logo on them. If that’s a real Seymour Duncan pickup, the guitar is probably real.

      I agree. It's a sad fact of life, we unfortunately cannot take them with us when we pass. 😔. I believe the previous owner passed away and didn't have any other contacts for the storage company to reach out to. Ultimately the storage unit went up for auction. And yes, they have found new caretakers ☺️ so silver lining to what started out as a tragedy.

    So I'm in Michigan, so obviously we have winter weather, but I wonder what the effect of leaving those guitars in that storage container can have on them? I assume out where you're at it doesn't freeze, but guitars in a hot metal shipping container seems like a bad idea. Have you had any issues with finish cracking or neck warp? Very curious to see these guitars restored. Should be a fun project.

    The best find I ever had was on ebay several yrs ago when these Kraken guitars started appearing. They were very cheap and so I though I would give one a try and when it cam it was the highest quality guitar you could imagine. I then bought all of them and it turned out they were bult by top luthiers from ESP and some other brand who set out to build some of the best guitars one could buy however they went bust pretty quickly. I ended up with about 22 of them and still have them. I have no idea what they are worth today but you would be looking at least £3-4,000 each to match the quality as they are easily as good as ESP custom shop which I also own. They did Teles, Strats Super Strats Single cut, Les Pauls and modern types of every variety and flying Vs.

    • @GuitarFinds
      @GuitarFinds  2 місяці тому

      Wow, what an incredible find! It sounds like you stumbled onto a real hidden gem with those Kraken guitars. Getting that kind of quality at such a great price must have felt like hitting the jackpot! With craftsmanship on par with ESP Custom Shop guitars, I can only imagine how well those play. It's amazing that you were able to grab 22 of them-talk about building an impressive collection! Even though the company didn’t last, you’ve got a piece of their legacy, and who knows what they might be worth now. Sounds like you’ve got a collection most people can only dream of!
      Also, could you send me an email with some pictures of what they look like? I’ve never heard of them before and would love to see one!

The area where this was filmed has a huge mix of people coming and going so it makes for an interesting marketplace for sourcing guitars though the lesser populated areas have their positives too. Have I ever seen a guitar in worse condition than that Carvin "Ironbird?" Yes, I fear I have. Back when I was in my early to mid 30s, I went into a pawn shop and saw a Peavey Impact 1 solid body electric guitar that was outright DEAD. The neck was so warped that it looked like it should have belonged to Robin Hood. There were missing strings; some of the ones that were left were ACOUSTIC guitar strings. There were parts missing. I can't begin to remember what all they were. Remember that the guitar scene then wasn't NEARLY as robust as it is now -- AND that Peavey used many very unique parts. I have no idea how I would have replaced anything missing. That wasn't a project guitar ... it was a reason for a funeral!

    Did you ever state how much for the whole lot?
    Also, what model Bogner and how much?
    First off, if the neck isn't twisted or wood isn't warped on body, fret board and or necks.. all that dirt is superficial. Things around your house will bring them back or at least to a clean slate prep wise. Then putty and paint will make them what they ain't with a quickness. My BFF handed me his dad's 60s pawn shop acoustic his father had charmed his mother with 40 years before. It had 40 years of crud, a neck that was so filthy, it looked like a hundred women had cried a river of mascara all over the fret board plus a broken bridge but since they didn't make any guitar back then with shoddy materials, in a course of a weekend, with charcoal fluid, linseed oil, superglue, baking soda, matching wood shavings for each of the three woods, new string pegs, strings, and I had old bone and horn raw bridge and nut material from back in the day. It came out looking like it did used in the 60s. Plus played lovely

    I dont know why these are abandoned, but personally, ive had dreams like this. Where i forgot i had 100 guitars stashed away. (Anyone else? Bueller?). But, seriously, lools like these were flood victims (Nashville?), or home fire survivors (water) . There is a real wide variety, and think it was a collector instead of a pro musician..they wouldnt abandon them, but who knows.thanks for the show.

    Talk about someone’s relic projects gone horribly wrong, hey, wow. On a semi related note, what camera and microphone setup are you using? The video quality is great, especially considering the multiple transitions from outside to inside. I assume you’re not lighting the scenes indoors?

    • @GuitarFinds
      @GuitarFinds  3 місяці тому +2

      GoPro Hero 8 Black and I too was surprised at how well the camera performed during the multiple transitions. No lighting the scenes indoors. If anything, the shop's normal lighting is underwhelming.
      For audio quality, it was also just the stock GoPro mic, however, I'm looking into getting a lapel mic to pair with the GoPro. By FAR the best Lapel mic for the price I've come across is the Hollyland Lark m2. I plan on using that mic in future videos.
