This is what the theater people say about how unethical it is making and posting bootleg videos like these... but secretly they're watching them and are silently and secretly glad that these exist 😂. I never got the chance to watch Wicked in theaters, but after watching the AMAZING movie, this is a good way to view the 2 types of production. Thanks for sharing! 😊
I really don't understand the gatekeeping of musicals. People arould the whole world is in love with this form of theather. They probably will never come to Broadway or West End but through this videos and bootlegs they can enjoy this craft.
@@radiomedusa yes exactly, if anything gatekeeping it makes it more likely to die out…. we’re in the viral era, people explore hobbies and career fields because of videos they saw online that interested them. broadway musicals should be more readily accessible to people who may never get the chance to see them live.
to be honest ive never heard theatre kids hate on bootlegs, yes there unethical but its how most theatre kids study their roles for there school productions, etc. most theatre kids turned celebs watched them aswell but have to hate them when they get to broadway or big musical roles. guaranteed everyone on broadway has watched bootlegs
@@radiomedusa true this. im not from the uk or the us. musical culture is nonexistent here, and it's unlikely ill get to see the musicals i like, let alone see it with cast members ive grown to love through the bootlegs. still, when i was lucky enough to go on holiday in the UK, i checked out some musicals i liked in person. online views might stop some people from supporting the actual works, but in my opinion, it won't meaningfully hurt real life viewership. the people who are watching these are mostly people who couldn't afford a ticket anyway, and there's something magical about seeing things in person that can't be replaced by a shabby shaky 144p video from 20 years ago. it's also a way to build a loyal fanbase. and at the end of the day, if the official makers refuse to film an official video and profit off it, someone else will. it keeps the art alive, it spreads it and attracts new viewers, gives the actors publicity long after they've stepped down and stopped making profits, everyone's happy. gatekeeping is idiotic
With no doubt, Alli Mauzey is the best Glinda ever. She plays the role with funny, she sings very well and the lyrics of popular is perfectly interpreted with a real meaning of each line. Well done Mauzey, well done!

Haven’t got to see the movie yet but alli was the Glinda I saw in theater way back when and other iterations have been hard to watch vs her version. Makes me happy to know that the movie version will be somewhat similar cause alli is Glinda imo lol.
these 2 are my absolute favourite. donna was so amazing, her emotion and acting and empathy was perfect. her singing and her vibrato completely matched elphaba. alli was the perfect glinda she was perfectly funny and so pretty & an effortlessly amazing actress and singer.
Donna was my first Elphaba. I’ve sort of kept track of her. Amazing experience! (Glinda for that performance was Chandra Lee Schwartz). So funny! It was the third time it had been to Denver, and I was SURE it would be my last chance to see it. That was 2009. It’s been around again so many times I can’t count!
@@vicentehizon6202 oh no- I love them! Watching them on the press tour has been such a joy. But in terms of actual stage productions, with the audience there, Donna and Ali’s comedic duality is unparalleled, whereas Ari and Cynthia’s chemistry was very emotional… reaching out to all if us theatre kids as if to say ‘here we are. Wow. She acts like a hyperactive five-yer-old child. There is a fine line between "perky" and "childish." Even her voice sounds babyish. I don't believe for one minute this young woman is supposed to be an 18 or 20-year-old college student. I also find a lot of these actresses taking on the role of Glinda, especially this one, try to emulate Kristin Chenoweth's speaking voice. I realize that's because Chenoweth is virtually synonymous with the role. Even so, when they try to copy Chenoweth's vocal tone it comes out sounding like a little child when, in fact, Chenoweth's speaking voice is naturally very high pitched, but that doesn't mean actresses should try to copy her vocal tone. That's not necessary. Glinda is a young woman and can still be portrayed appropriately using the actresses' natural voice. Not sounding like a five-year-old will also help tone down the spasmodic physical movements, too. There is so much unnecessary movement going on in this song that it negatively impacts the vocal delivery and even her pitch. It's very easy to go over the top with this role and become cartoonish.
@@samdraper469 Oh, I know. Too many words hurts the brain because it's addicted to tiny and short little text messages with misspelled words. Too many long sentences with words over five letters is just exhausting. You poor thing.

I think that's kind of the point. Wicked is supposed to parody Fairy Tales with everyone playing into their roles except for Elphaba who is between Oz and the real world.
