I always have the BMPCC4k with me when i shoot, 80% of the time it's out right next to a BMPCC6k/ Pro, and being used almost interchangeably.... Never have a complaint about it. Never wish it did anything more than it does. It's a beast for sure and just a little bit dear to my heart...
Yeah, man. I was originally going to call the video "why i still love the BMPCC 4K after all this time" but i thought the bigger boys would make fun of me, so i changed it. But it's definitely close to my heart too.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw it’s a tool of the trade. Like a simple hammer, if you can use it to get what you want you don’t need another tool for the job. It has a look all it’s own too. Humans are still shooting with film because it has its own unique qualities, I think it’s the same for the bmpcc4k. Once I start hitting Hollywood I’ll start playing with the big boys more, but I’ll prob always use them for handheld footage and b-roll etc… great videos by the way.
I simply love my bmpcc 4k. The footage coming out of this little giant is amazing.
Bmpcc4k with a Speedbuster is my way to go! Real beast it covers all of my lenses (over 50 of them) EF and vintage glasses! 8sva very versatile camera!
Love my BMPCC4k!!! I work with canon c200s all day at work. But nothing compares to my black magic, especially with vintage lenses like the Helios 44m-4. Great video!!!
Honestly the level of detail you can manipulate in lightroom when you post process your video into cinema dng image slices can give you a level of detail thats legendary. Hell you could super resolution all your photos and edit them to clean noise up, then bring it into davinci and clean it up more with neat video plugin or the denoiser from the app
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw The image has a richness and three dimensional it’s to it; colours are wonderful; plenty of latitude in the grade. It’s hard to explain until you try it. It will become a cult camera in years to come. Yes, CDNG files are massive, but the image makes it worthwhile. Full res files grade like butter in DR and I archive them with SlimRaw afterwards. SSD’s are cheap now so the acquisition size doesn’t bother me. So many compressed codecs feel very video like and over sharpened; I just don’t like them. I grade by converting the RAW to Blackmagic at clip level, but there are several other ways to achieve a fantastic look. I nearly always use vintage glass: Contax Zeiss is my favourite but I have some Rokkors, Nikon AI-S, Rollei etc.
Thanks. If you want to do narrative type work then it's a fantastic camera. If you do documentary/run&gun style then there are probably better options. Not for picture but for ease of use.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I’ve been working on a few long term docs and even for run and gun it still does fine for me. But it’s a lot prep to execute well. But we’ll worth it.
This is still my number 1 camera..& i agree with everything you said. I'm still trying to figure out why this camera over the pocket 6 k gives me that Arri look. It's a fantastic camera.
I'd really like to get my hands on an OG pocket. That sensor does look lush. I'm curious to see how it would look after using the up res feature in Resolve to 4K. Just can't justify $500 for a 13 year old camera at the moment.
Thanks, mate. It's all shot with a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. The macro was done with a cheap 10x magnifying filter from Amazon - very similar to a diopter filter. It's very soft around the edges but I like the effect.
Great Video Sir! Could you please also make a video on Noise Performance and Tips to get the least noise? I just bought my 4k and i'm loving it so far. So much better than my Bmcc 2.5k. But i face some noise issues.
dude i share your same passion for the bmpcc 4k, its the staple of my video production....I just love it..i couldve sold it awhile ago but ive always kept it because i love the image quality and color science. My only troubles with it is mounting it on my gimbal but other than that its awesome and highly recommended
I’ve used the micro camera and it’s shots DNG raw. I love the files just not the size. I only shoot in 3:1 with DNG and the Braw at 5:1 looks basically the same color wise. The DNG is harder to work with then the files from the BMPCC4k. You can’t go wrong either way though.
@@aperturefilm From my understanding it isn't. DNG can do full uncompressed raw and Braw is at best 3:1. now there isn't much of a difference in file size in the end. I think it more comes down to the sense it is captured on. They both have a very nice look to them but there are some differences. in the end I think its more the sense but they both have there place. Braw is easier to view as well.
@@aperturefilmAt a technical level they are not. BRAW isn't real RAW, but practically functions like one. CineDNG holds more data. BRAW is a partially debayered and denoised file which is why Blackmagic did not get a lawsuit from RED (who are dicks that banned all forms of internal compressed RAW). By having the debayering and denoising internally, it is no longer RAW by definition hence no lawsuits.
Great video! What is your lighting setup for your talking head portion? Is that a bicolor light set to 4000K or a CTO gel? Or are you achieving that warm look in post with white balance adjustments? Thanks!
99% in the grade. One key light with a 40is inch softbox set to 5600K. The desk light is tungsten. The curtains on the window don't fully black the room out and can cast a warmer light but it's very subtle, that's why I say 99%
Well if by Pro movie making you mean films like what you see in the cinema, then yes. a6700 doesn't have raw or Pro Res. It also doesn't have a fan so it may over heat when filming for a longer time. I'd say the BMPCC 4K is better at this type of work.
I don't full understand what you mean by "wedding highlights". I won't recommend the camera for wedding shooting in general because of a few factors. I think there are better camera out there that would make filming weddings easier than the pocket 4K. But it's not impossible to use it for this type of work.
Is it just me? Or is it a new thing that the background music is loud enough you can’t hear what you’re saying and you have to mentally concentrate on your voice Same for a lady doing Paris vlog and she told me to turn up my volume….ah dah that also turns up the background noise
The sound on this individual video is not the best. I was using a different mic that has a tighter pick up pattern so when i turn my head the volume of my voice dramatically drops. I tried evening it out in post but it is what it is. If youre talking about it being a trend on my channel or over youtube in general then I can't say. My videos are mixed to -14lufs which is what youtube recommend, voice is -8dB and bacground music -25dB to -30dB.
