I'm probably gonna buy this, but I kinda wish they didn't include the RGB at all, since I'm gonna leave it off anyway to save battery and because it doesn't shine through the letters so it's kinda useless. They could've included a better battery for the same price instead.
I think mechanical keyboard makers feel they have to include RGB lighting even if it doesn't make any sense to do so. I'd sooner not have it.
THAT is so cool!
Well done!!
I still have the 4K and haven't used it in years. I was curious about BM's latest, but am surprised that there's not much new.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
pls set your mic to mono.... otherwise excellent vid
Thanks and yeah the voice track is now set to mono.
Hello, Chris. I'm new to filmmaking. Is the cropping factor really important? Can you give examples?
It's both important and unimportant. With modern sensors it's less important than it was 10 years ago. Having a larger sensor will make some things easier, you can get a shallow depth of field, were the background is out of focus, easier and for the most part a bigger sensor will work better in low light. But it's not impossible to match the "full frame look" with smaller sensors. If your've very new to filmmaking I wouldn't worry about it too much, Id concentrate on framing and getting a good exposure... and of course the only thing that truly matters - story. If you want to learn more about crop sizes I would watch a few youtube vids, particularly, photography ones related to sensors size and crop, to find out what people mean.
I had the BMPCC4K and the usbC Port fell off the circuit board and inside the camera just before a shoot. I look after my camera like it’s my baby and was always so gentle with it. I emailed BM as their quality clearly sucks and they were happy to charge me £500 to fix. No thank you.
Wow, £500 is pretty nasty. Half the cost of the camera. Did you get it fixed independently?
@ I tried to but nobody was able to solder it back on. I even bought a solder iron and tried it myself with no luck. Ended up selling it for a cheap price to someone who was going to strip it down for a drone and I switched to Panasonic.
Unfortunately, I believe I have been scammed by this company. I ordered a Lofree Flow 84, and shortly after, the Lofree Flow Lite was released for pre-order. I contacted Lofree to cancel my order, but they informed me that it had already shipped. They advised me to notify them once I received the package so they could provide a return address, which they did. I paid for shipping, sent the item back, and kept them updated throughout the return process. Once the tracking indicated that the package was delivered, I emailed the support team again but received no response. After sending multiple emails over two weeks, I finally heard back, and they assured me I would receive a refund in 1-5 days. However, I did not receive the refund, so I emailed them again. They responded, stating they had not seen the package and that it hadn’t been scanned. They requested tracking information (which I had previously provided). I showed them that it was delivered weeks ago, but they still haven't responded. I have sent multiple follow-up emails and have not received my refund from them. This company has not been truthful, and I feel I have been treated unfairly. I do not recommend them.
It's amazing how the companies that sell premium products can have such low integrity.
Hey, sorry but this is wrong. The GVM SD80S is not Bicolor, it's just Daylight. The SD80D is (D stands for Dual). Please check.
I've just checked. The light is bi colour. You can change the kelvin by holding the dial in for a second then turning it. The code on the light is GVM SD80S, it is also on the instruction manual that came with it. Unless GVM have branded the light they sent up to me incorrectly, then it is 100% bi colour. It would also be strange that they used a different naming structure than other light makers where the D stands for daylight.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I see. I think there is a mistake with that unit you have. If you check the product specs. online you'll see what I mean. Or am I missing something?
Haha, your right their website says the S is mono and the D is bi colour. Strangely their home page calls the D - GVM SD80D 80w Bi-Color Spotlight Daylight - I have no idea what is going on. All I can say is my one is branded as SD80S and I can change the colour temp. Maybe they branded some up wrong, or maybe they’re got their website wrong. If anyone else has the lamp, let me know if it’s mono or not.
Great examination of the hardware! I love the closeup shots! Also owning a Nuphy Air, how would you compare these factored between the Nuphy and the Lofree: - typing feel - build quality i‘m really curious because your opinions stated in the video closest reflect my own preferences (i.e. I also don‘t want to have a disco ball sitting on my desk 😊)
Personal opinion is the Lofree feels better in every way. Keys feel more secure. Typing is smoother. Build quality is better. It's not that the Nuphy feels bad in anyway, it just feels like the Lofree is a grade above. Lofree feels like a Pro product.
Hi. How to enable the sound sensitive light system. Is it through the apps under effects? 😅
I just came here to ask... is doing the "Still Worth It?" video title still worth it in 2024?
I see what you did there. Yes, I think some combination of this title still works and will probably work for many more years to come. It’s human psychology, people who are interested in buying the camera don’t want to waste money. People might not like it but if you create videos you need to play the UA-cam game. Some people will click on a video just because of the topic but the data shows the videos performance is better with hyperbolic / sensational style titles. Maybe UA-cam will introduce A/B title testing one day and it can be tested without any other variables.
worst battery performance in the history of tech, maybe on par with the Sega Game Gear handheld console, charge takes a minimum of 5 hours to film for maybe 30 minutes
🤣 Loving the Game Gear reference. I was never lucky enough to own one (I sure did want one) so I can neither confirm nor deny it’s as bad as a BMPCC4K
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw I've used the 6k a lot lately, is 4k better or worse? we have the freaking belt pack that plugs into DC power you have to be tethered to this sucker but I like the camera more and more the more I learn exposing with it
this video is an excellent example of things you would never really know until you buy it and use it
hilarious I experience the same annoyances
I love them all! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
You are so welcome!
Can you use all different np batteries or only the 770’s?
nothink
I’ve built 9 different keyboards in my time and I’ve used several pre-built and nothing can compare AT ALL to the sound and typing feel of the lowfree flow ghost…I applied some heavier lube to the switches and I’m in creamy HEAVEN…might be the last board I’ll ever own 😂
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm currently debating whether to go with a 6K Pro or a ZCAM S6 (both used) for narrative short films & guerrilla doc stuff. I can get a better price for the ZCAM and it shoots open gate which is great for my 1.5x anamorphic, but BM as a company gives some peace of mind that ZCAM doesn't. Still torn...
Who in the world is shooting in 120fps constantly?
Bro, I need you to go heavy on the new Cinema 6k camera! Love your channel man!
what would you suggest for the BMPCC og? portkeys PT5 II?
Samsung T5 all day long. There's many others that are price worthy and budget friendly that works too.
I’ve always heard it being pronounced “knee see”, without exception, until your video. This is the first time I’m hearing “nicey”. I’m curious, is this just your feeling of how it should be pronounced, or did you get this info from NiSi directly, and they officially said the correct pronunciation is “nicey”?
Interesting and funny question. I can't remember if they told me how to say it or not. (they have seen the video and didn't correct it if I was saying it wrong) Maybe part of it is my accent because I thought I was pronouncing it Nye-See as in "the world is nye". Maybe part of it is a US/UK thing like the pronunciation of Nikon. US saying Ni-con, everyone else saying Nick-on. Having thought about it, I think it might be said Nye-Sye like the first part of the word nice and the first part of the name Simon combined. I'll see if i can find the contact details and ask if they have an official way of saying it.
Is this matte box is good for bmpcc 6k full frame? Please
It will work with the Blackmagic cinema camera full frame
I was thinking to replace my logitech MX keyboard to this. Cause i like it typing sound in every youtube review. Is it worth?
Is it worth it, is very subjective. It’s a good high quality, well built keyboard. It feels great and types real nice. I don’t think you will feel like it’s not worth the price but it’s not going to be an investment that pays for itsself. It’s a luxury item in that regard.
no offense but logitech, razor and typical gaming brand are garbage keyboards. But once you go down that mechanical keyboard, specially the custom mechanical keyboard rabbit hole, there is no going back.
If someone welded the Sigma 18-35 onto my BM6K I'd be like "yeah, cool". It’s has your 30 in there. I like the Tamron 45 with its stabilisation, but it doesn't stay on long.
the price difference between the full cage and half case is very small...so IF you really need a half cage then thats cool otherwise might as well take the full cage size...also another thing is when y start mounting many things on...there is a stress level somehow on the camera IF using a HALF cage...so full cage is better so that you take the stress off the camera body so to speak...it all depends on how you might plan to rig it out... i think a full cage is best...although the half cage does look very smooth and stylish
The 6k's IR cut filter doesn't get damaged by dots? I always have to change the IR cut filter on my Black Magic 4K
I have a Tilta modded 6K and I would love to have a second BM 4k with this mod. What a combo. You just want to cradle it. It reminds me of the Hassleblads.
0:00 Love that ray of light. Is that a projector?
Yes, it's from a cheap projector bought from amazon.
@@ChristopherMichaelLaw cheap? I’ll have to get one then, i thought it should have big lumens for that effect
nah, you just need a dark room and to fog/haze it a bit. I used a projector instead of a light because I could load up an animated image of different coloured shapes rotating and it would give different coloured beams from the same light source. The projector is a XuanPad. Think it was less than $40 on Amazon - it might have been on sale. You can get the same effect from anything that will project an image as long as the the room is dark and there's an atmosphere for the light to reflect off.
Is it possible to program the keyboard for umlauts?
You can just have a toggle to switch layouts in Windows or Mac to accomodate for different languages. On Mac, you can also press and hold a letter to see them, on Windows you can install PowerToys for similar functionality
Also have a look at the EurKey layout. It takes the US Layout and adds other European characters.
I already shoot very smooth handheld footage, I’ve had a lot of practice getting smooth handheld shots. This feature will help me get the rest of the way there! Even though I have a gimbal, it’s nice to know I don’t need to bring it on every single run and gun shoot!
I actually think lights are sexier than camera bodies 🤣

@ChristopherMichaelLaw - please give me your sound track list! 🙏 and what mic did you use to record?
I'll have to get back to you with the songs - I'll need to dig the original files out. I should really keep a log of them. The mic is a Zoom H4n pro. Some times it's linked to a cheap lapel mic and other times I just talk straight into it.
Dont mind me - just here taking some notes 📝✍ loving this video!
Subbed just because you edit like GAWX
also cuz i just bought this light
Hey, thanks for the Sub.... and yes this video was highly inspired by GAWX, GxAces and a few others.
Great video, this is what I was looking for, When I go to try it and press the record button when in photo mode it does not start recording, why?
Never mind had a SD card installed it didn't like it. removed it and all good.
a pity..its sold out
Maybe im a fool, but the pro versión of this could be a hit. Just better battery life, nds, tiltable screen… 1300 dollars: 4k only
I don't think you're a fool for thinking that. I totally agree that a 4K Pro could be a big hit.
Great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
