It's definitely nice to see just the three of you vibing, again!
Don’t I know you from somewhere else? 🤔…
Discussing Sharpe every episode, that's podcasting!
Can we have a spin off Sharpe podcast
The Sharping Phase?
@@prettyfastnotveryfurious9874need to release 3 episodes per day.
Loving Peachy's "well there's no harm doing a Warcry warband" response to every cool thing. I can't decide if he has no understanding of gateway drugs, or a perfect understanding of gateway drugs....
😂🤣😂
Yes 😂
The news that Alessio Cavatore will likely be on a future show makes me very excited. I loved his old White Dwarf columns (more like pages but not sure what else to call it).
One of my all time favourite battle reports was when he wrote the Vampire Counts book, I think 5th Ed Warhammer, and he played against Nuln Empire army and Lumping Croops fighting Cocks (Jeff, stop it). Great report and Alessio great rules writer
That turn over rule in blood bowl is the absolute best mechanic. Makes each move exciting and each dice roll intense and interesting.
Friend of mine once called Space Marines "like missionary with the lights off. Nothing wrong with it, but really boring"
🤣🤣🤣
For the Emperor......?
Should we be keeping record of mentions of Sharpe? Some kind of... Bean Counter?
I'll get me coat...
Exceptional
Boom boom tish!
If we keep invoking his name, some day he'll appear!
I used an example from your camo tutorial on phobos marines and just left the shoulder with the chapter symbol in the chapter colour. It works quite well 👍
I’d like to see some historical channels on, and let peachy get sidetracked talking more about sharpe
FOR THE ALGORITHM 😘
Praise the algorithm
I'll say about the coming space marines codex, I think it's so cool that I don't have to paint the bikes white to optimize their rules, it actually opens up the creativity in list building, especially for fluff
It also means you can paint different squads as different chapters, to represent a campaign force of multiple chapters fighting together.
+1 on the Perry's boxsets for conversions. I added the U.S. WWII, Afghan tribesmen, and bits from the British line infantry to the Stargrave figures from Northstar for my Stargrave crew.
Perrys for Turnip 28 as well.
I do like the interviews with guests but I think my favorites are just the ones with you fellows
I am colourblind, and it's an absolute bloody nightmare. However, it's the reason I use Citadel as there's so many resources out that use citadel.
I was the same, red/green myself, colourblind as a dog according to the army as well - broke away from GW paints around 5 years ago, was a long slog but I got there in the end. Lots of resources for comparisons used.
So glad to see this as soon as it comes out! Love these chat videos!!!
Another great episode guys, and I’m only halfway through so far! I echo Dave from MS Paints comment, it’s great to see just the three of you having a chinwag. I’ve also just clocked Geoff’s t-shirt, awesome.
Either with wonderful guests in recent weeks (and altogether) or just the three of you, it's always a pleasure spending time with you. The waffle is strong with this one (podcast).
I love the mix of discussions ! Movie chats are great too, it was the hobby that brought you three into my life but its your personalities that have kept me around !
😍🙏😍 thanks we’re chuffed you like the nonsense we put out lol
I have a Dark Angels army but just don't care about space marines anymore. When i see people having a metldown when GW dares to go a single event without a space marine reveal it always makes me think of the "but THIS malibu stacy has a new hat!" bit from the simpsons. Its the tabletop consoomer meme at its most diehard and beyond that its just boring since they are by design blank slates for OC's.
I love went you have guest on the show. But these episodes with just the three of you are some of my favorites. Keep up the great work!
Great show gents. Lots of tasty reveals from Nova. I'm especially hyped for Warcry (especially with those Fyreslayers revealed today). But you made the important message: it's cool if new releases don't float your boat. Excellent sidetracked chat as always.
Super excited for any of the Warlord guys to come into the show, they would be miniature royalty!
On the topic of Victrix -I'll tell you what, the command sprues on their late Roman infantry (both armored and unarmored) kits are fantastic for characterful conversions. I'm not even into Late Roman stuff, and now I'm sitting on a small force ready to save the empire. Highly recommend those kits if *just* for those command sprues.
Ah Blood Bowl is great fun. Glad to hear it mentioned on the show. I really like the Turn Over rule as it makes you do some risk assessment during games. Do you do the wild thing now so that you can try and get more touchdowns? Do you be more methodical and do all the "safe" bets and THEN the risky thing? It's a lot of tactics but yeah, can see how if you're taught "the hard way" it could be a bit rough!
Also, yes, always mention Sharpe. I have some WA plastics on my painting desk right now looking to get painted up for Chosen Men by Osprey.
I love the guest shows as they are just so amazing/insightful… but throwing in the odd episode where you three just banter (and who knows what direction that will go in!!) is gold 👍👍
Oh man!! I am rewatching this episode again and I cannot believe that I missed Geoff hat!! "Jack Burton Trucking, San Francisco"! Beautiful!! Well done Sir! As a big fan of that movie, I feel shame to have missed it!! SHAME!! The Painting Phase, even better the second time around!!
Peachy I got the new Necromunda rule book at Musketballs 1812 in Southampton. They still had a load left
Nice work Pat, i did the full Leviathan box (both marines and tyranids) in under 25 hobby sessions, its some great minis
I am colorblind and as it happens I got used first with the silly paint names and only after with what exact tone of color they actually were. It is not a problem on the regular basis anymore, but I did had to build a custom paint shelf because I really need ready access to the color name in the paint pot, and most brands place them really low in the bottle, and all ready to buy storage options block them.
Victrix vikings are fantastic and Perry Middle Ages plastics (going from HYW through to Wars of the Roses) are fantastic. And work for so many game systems. I have a whole Dol Amroth Army based on Alan Lee illustrations using perry and Great to use in MESGB
Ooh nice! That’s a smart idea using the Perry stuff for Lotr, certainly as they made the majority of Lotr minis it sorta fits perfectly 👍👍👍
Wow, Peachy might actually play Blood Bowl? We'll see.
Peachy needs to do an episode learning Blood Bowl from James Hewitt
I love how sidetracked your chats get. I started watching Ahsoka yesterday, loved Sabines speeder. It looked like a concept sketch for the jedi speerer bikes on Endor.
I just bought my first bag of Victrix Republican Romans yesterday! 35 USD for 60 models! They're amazing!
Excellent chatter as always, was great to meet you at get pegged at Warlord’s Open Day.
Ha! It was a pleasure pegging you
The car chase Geoff mentioned at 1:23:26 feels very reminiscent of a scene from the recent Netflix Eurovision film set in Edinburgh, they drive a mini 6 or 7 different ways around the same 2 or 3 streets in Edinburgh's old town and end up at the end of George IV Bridge in Edinburgh, no more than a 5 min walk from where all of the driving was filmed in front of the Hydro arena (which is actually in Glasgow.) totally bizarre if you know the area.
@31:20 I had the exact same thought. I saw that Chaplain and immediately thought "oh thats the perfect blank canvas for a LEGENDARY kit bash"
Just want to say, I love this show. Perfectly calm hobby nerd talk, whilst I work from home (and everything is on fire).
My fav hobby pod guys, loving it! Though at the end I did find myself screaming Penny Lane at Pat!
My dad used to manage an Outward Bound Centre in Aberdovey near Bala. Can confirm it's exactly like that.
Aberdyfi is... near Bala? That's a new one!
@@freshwaterspaceman7194 it’s where they used to put him up if the centre was full. I only went once so recall it was still like an hours drive
Sharing @mspaints sentiment on the three of you just chatting. Was thoroughly digging the movie section! Movie podcase spin off anyone?
Have to come to the rescue of Guy Richie on 1 thing though: He was nowhere near that abomination, Robin Hood, with Taron Egerton. Happy the mistake was made though because it got you talking about so many great movies.
Another great movie of his, which if you've not seen you may enjoy (if for no other reason than it's got our fanboy in charge: Mr Cavill) is The Man from U.N.C.L.E. If i recall correctly there's not a single curse word in the whole thing despite having that "Punchy Dialog" we love from Guy's movies.
Anywho I've prattled on enough! keep up the great work gents! :)
Great vid as usual. Would be really great to have a way to show what model or painter you're talking about on screen etc. thanks for all the content
Eventually when we are in our new studio, we should have space for another tripod and then we’ll get to work on it.
Another fantastic episode, don't change
I bloody love hearing Peachy talk about Warcry... easily my favourite GW game, wish more people knew about it. ❤
Another excellent episode! BTW, loved the hat.
I thank you.
Great chat 👍
Perrys, Warlord, Vitrix and WGA have been absolutely gold to mix between for model agnostic powder fantasy game my friend is writing!
Another lovely episode.
Sausage jam is genuinely delicious- well, chorizo jam is anyway. I bought 2 jars after trying it at a chilli festival, one for me and one for my brother in law. I ate both on toast, it was sublime.
We did some testing while I was in Marketing (Global Sales Support) at GW. Ranges that were launched with a more limited release window sold better than those that had been hyped for longer. It also didn’t impact sales of the existing models as much either. Whether or not that was a good thing for the consumer is another discussion.
Haha excellent video.
On a side note, I saw Les Denis bladdered in the krazy house in Liverpool on a Thursday night, not long after he split with Amanda Holden
I used to bloody love The Krazy House! - Geoff
FOR THE SAUSAGE!!! 🤣🤣🤣 nice show chaps 👍
I am very much enjoying Ahsoka. Particularly the little details.
I particularly liked the guy in the mask's death.
Again it would be nice to have the WarCom images on screen showing models being discussed. Cult Of Paint do it and it’s nice to have a visualisation of what the guys think.
I know a guy who uses the Brick Top pig speach from Snatch as a monologue when he goes for auditions.
Pat: "I'm going to have to censor this".
Doesn't.
Perfection.
We pride ourselves on being reliably shoddy.
Splendid work. Carry on.
I’m so glad you mentioned Blood Bowl and how slow it can be
I thought it was just me
Yes! The moment Les Dennis was mentioned I thought of the Grand National story.... 😂
Charlie hunnam is at his best in the gentleman because he kept his natural accent 1:31:40
Talked about that very on a show we recorded today.
Robin Hoodie was several films in one. Started off as Saving Private Robin, then went to the training montages of Robby, before settling down to Robin Hood, Man In Fights....
Another great episode to put some models together to.
To answer the title question yeah kinda. I was excited for the Leviathan box since i play both nids and marines. Ive built and painted all the nid and only the dreadnought, librarian, and Apothecary.
As a WHFB Ogre main, gorgers were some sweet sculpts for that era. The warcry set is *chefs kiss*
I’m certainly looking forward to grabbing a set for myself - peachy
Geoff, the Blood Angel's army with camo pattern you're thinking of belongs to Colin Ward and they had a Showcase on the Warhammer Community site. Also, if you're talking old camo patterns you should check out the Salamanders original colour scheme which was yellow with black squiggly lines all over it. Not exactly camo, but definitely difficult to paint.
Someone submitted a force for Horus Heresy painted in that scheme for Arbiter Ian's Tale of Four Heresy Gamers series, they looked awesome.
If its any consolation Pat, my brain immediately just went "THE ART OF THE TRADE, HOW THE SAUSAGE GETS MAAYYYYDE, WE JUST ASSUME THAT IT HAPPENS...."
Peach and Geoff just done get That not every issue can be settled by committee
At the start of Trainspotting Renton is chased by the shop's security guard for about half a mile through the centre of Edinburgh. Heroin addicts are apparently considerably fitter than I expect them to be! He is then knocked over by a car coming out of an alley that is barely longer than a car too...
I love you guys. Haha. Keep up the great work!!
Eldar rangers are a really good example of awesome bits in the box that got left out of promos!
Gunslinger ranger never got promo'd
As always the guys never fail to but a smile only face.
To answer the title before I dive into this episode:
It didn't help that they were paired with those glorious Ironjawz reveals... hahah
Are you sure you haven't watched the video?
Great chat....Blood Bowl Sevens is great.....The mechanic for turnover just means you do your less risky stuff first and then do the trickier rolls.
Its good fun and can do a game of sevens very quickly
👍👍👍 cheers for the info Mr Stuey
sweet onion jam for sausages, + a touch of mustard. its the only way to sausage.
I like your style.
40:48 Every decent Blood Bowl coach will say the same thing - SAFE MOVES FIRST!
Patrick - If you do get a bigger Atem, get the Extreme ISO. It saves each camera separately and the whole recording as a davinci resolve project, so if you make a dodgy edit live you can just nip in and fix it. Also makes multicam shoots on a budget very easy!
ooooh I'll check it out. Sounds expensive!
I really liked the new space marines minis because they didn't have the tacticool look, just upscaled more detailed versions of old marines.
"I'm an absolute bounder!" Is my new message tone 🥳
I just bought some Jump Packs and going to add to my primaris assault intercessors. Sorted.
My favourite 40k quote comes from The Infinite and The Divine - there is nothing more dangerous than an Ork... having fun!
Good ol hobby conversation, love it as always
In an older version of Blood Bowl, there's was a rule called Illegal Turn Procedure. If you forgot to move your turn counter, and started moving a model, your opponent could shout "ILLEGAL TURN PROCEDURE!" and you'd either lose a re-roll or your entire turn. It made for some very short games after a couple of beers, but I can understand why they took the rule out.
I heard my name and the challenge of painting a chaplain! 👀
My one thing that bugs me with the Star Wars sequels is that we didn’t get a single scene of Han, Luke and Leia interacting with each other.
Wonderful episode and great chats. Like sitting chtting with mates.
I do wish that in years gone by the Imoerial Gusrd had been the poster boys of 40k, not Marines.
They have become quite mundane.
OMG GEOFF'S HAT! I want!
Last Exit to Nowhere. Amazing merch for the cool (and only the cool 😂) movie geek.
I was in the group sat under the tree when you left warlord. We saw you but didn't want to interrupt your day and say hi, can imagine that being bombarded all the time with oh your peachy gets annoying haha. Was nice to see you though out in the wild haha
Aww you should’ve come and said hi, I really don’t mind, I like chatting with folks in the hobby…..your all kinds of awesome
Unrelated to the topic but can you get Warhipster in for a chat?!
Even better, a duo paint tutorial and a chat!!
is that Peachy's take on Agatha Christie; A Pocket full of Pegs 😅
When you do get the studio would u consider remaking the orks drift battle report peachy did in white dwarf? I have a 2nd ed ork army you guys could borrow for it too
Regarding those jump pack marines. They didn’t stand out to much for me. Until I saw how they look in a wide shot with other minis around. Then they really look like they have movement in the poses. I suspect that they will look much better in person.
yea I much prefer flying stands but...... I printed some smoke stands for my inceptors the smoke comes out of their backpack vents down to the ground it's awesome
The Thing The Musical is also top tier ^^
"This is Geoff on the Smash Chop Express and I'm talking to anyone who's listening out there..."
The cheque is in the mail….
I will probs cut the rocks away and sculpt green stuff jet stacks from the backpack so they are mid take off!
I absolutely loved the Vampire Blood Bowl team, and the Star players release (Luthor especially!), so much character in them. I've still got my original metal team on the shelf and as much as I love them the new kit is so much more characterful and exciting. Can't wait to have a game with them and lose because my vampires are too busy cracking open the thralls than playing fantasy american football🤣
Perfect title for "Always have been" meme.
The best one I have seen was Pooh missed Pigglet but he did enjoy the bacon sandwich had me giggling for days
The first edition of Blood Bowl had no crazy turnover concept, but it also meant that the ball was far less important than killing your opponents: Your opponent is far less of a problem when 80% of their team is face down. It lead to a lot of dwarves beating people to the ground. Having to stop your turn in first failure makes that very difficult, but it also means that, in the real world, first you do all the completely safe moves, then the absolutely mandatory moves that you will lose without, and only then you start doing risky things, sorted by expected failure chance.
Solves the problem? Sure. Makes the game feel like football? Hell no
Bismarck is said to have coined the phrase Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made. It got a mention in the West Wing if memory serves.
love the podcast hope next week you chat about the atomic mass games ministravaganza 2023 which is on twitch from Thursday to Saturday on Twitch and they will be show off the new minis on the way for there games.
Well time to go rewatch the gentleman
I'd be more excited if they started rerunning pre 2000 sets again. Not as a rip off short term though, as an actual normal purchase option.
