Note choices and chord voicing aside (I agree, it’s just crazy), the ways he subtly varies his attack, his inflection is just nuts, the touch. It’s like he’s having a conversation with his right hand.
@@TheBoomtown4 So true! Amazing lesson as usual! I bought a 2013 custom shop 63’ Gibson 335 reissue last weekend . The guy I bought it from had a great discussion about UA-cam and the best instructors were from Nashville. But when you get onto the guitar talk I now really pay attention to every word, you always say something, might just be in passing, that really clicks a switch in me. Hey GT, I discovered your channel fairly recently and have become a big fan. A friend and I traveled to East Nashville from Chicago to catch you at the Underdog and we missed your set! We bought tickets through Bands in Town and the ticket listed the show as being at 1am. We got there at 12:30 and you were long gone. Bummer! We’ll try again when we get a chance.
Visiting your channel regularly has really improved my ear and sharpened my instinct of where notes are going to be. Thanks! Even though you're a busy performer, I hope you keep it up!
you changed my approach to the guitar even after decades of playing, getting back to fundamentals is critical, helped my song writing, solos etc i noodled around way too much like many of us do, im getting serious about playing over changes, thank you so much!
I love the way you teach. The tabs while you are teaching would really help me! I am 65. I started playing w/ Covid. I am still at it! I never thought of playing the chord notes up the neck for leads. DUH NOW I know! Bits of chords in leads are easy. And sounds great!
Hey GT. How's your September been going😂🎉?? Just saw this video, my dude. And that bottle of bourbon had come from my newfound home. Down here in central Kentucky, in Bardstown, bourbon city USA. Glad you shared that with us. That one really hit close to home bro. Just so you know. I really get a lot of you these videos. You are one hell of a guitarist. Whom I would love to have the opportunity to learn more from. Your playing sure has had an impact on my music creativity. I really appreciate it. I wish you would do a more of an explanatory video series. To get more people in line with just what you been putting out there. Especially in the country links, and playing around chord centers. Improvising is something that has been hard for me to feel comfortable doing. So if you could maybe help a little more in that area. It would be much appreciated as well. Thank you for all you do. Love the new material with Uncle Larry. Killer sound. Keep doing what you're doing, my man. And I'll catch you on the flip side dog. ❤❤❤
Really enjoy your playing…. I’ve been shedding these G chord shapes up the neck…I need to figure out some of the double stops or 6th lines next… I think that’s what’s going on lol… anyway very inspiring!
Wow. Can you break his down more in another video? Maybe a video dedicated solo-ish stuff over only one or two chord shapes. Great stuff and this hits the nail on the head on how I like to improvise and how I’d like to progress. But this presentation is too advanced for me. Been playing a long time and gig. I’m usually the singer and playing rhythm but I try to throw in lots of licks over a chord shape while playing… but not nearly to the level as what you are doing here. Thanks again.
Would love to hear Guthrie do a demo on the lead in the song El Paso, or that style. I have been learning it and guess what! All the things Guthrie talks about is in that lead part. Arpeggios, chord shapes, outlining the chords. Chords on 2-3 strings. These short lessons are so valuable.
