- Minelab Equinox Micro Session #8: I know its a little late in the year for a beach setup video but one of my subscribers is heading to the beach in a couple of weeks and I thought this video would come in handy. If you are thinking about taking your Equinox to the beach this video will help you setup your Nox 800 for the beach in about 5 minutes. Let me know if you hunt the beach differently than I do. Don't forget to set your cell/mobile phone to airplane mode as they can interfere with the detector !

👍👍👍, out here in CA where I live the local beaches don't have too much mineralization, run my 800 @... Recovery 5 (or 6, if I got a lot of ground to cover and want to just bank real estate) ground tracking on, sensitivity 22-23, all metal on, although you get close to houses or Rvs with wifi hot spots might bump down to 18-20 to get rid of chatter. I'm still learning only had this machine bout 2 years but love info videos like this👍🇺🇸
Thanks Rob for the comment. Sounds like you are dialed in out there. I would be careful with the ground tracking though. Sometimes the time it takes for the machine to compensate for the ground under the coil has the potential to take longer than a swing but the likely hood of losing something is very low IMO. If it works for you don't change it. I don't use tracking over here on the east coast.
That's a great video, thanks. I'll also dig anything because sometimes those bottle cap numbers are something else or there's just a bottle cap on top of something good. Just last month I found 5 coins (about $13 in my country's currency) in a hole the size of a fist and there was also a few bottle caps and pull taps and I was getting those numbers first, so you never know

Great video, what settings do you use for in the ocean?
I typically don't change much I just use Beach 1 or 2. I drop my Iron Bias down to no higher than 4 I usually stay at 2. Drop recovery speed down to 4 but 5 is ok.
will a quarter which rings up to a 29 on the nox 800 on land ring up the same on the beach in beach mode? also, can you give some info on gold rings on the beach what that might ring up on the nox? love you videoes....
Yes a quarter will ring up the same. As far as the gold rings go you really need to dig everything in the junk range. Gold rings will ring up similar to a pull tab or in that range but they will sound different. Depending on how much gold is in the ring you could dig gold in the single digits. Silver will fool you too. I helped a lady find 2 of her silver rings that rang up as a 2 on the VDI. They were very slim silver rings. You'll quickly figure it out, its pretty straight forward.

Just ran the Nox 800 at Lauderdale with these and other settings and did great on the beach, but in the water it had issues deeper than 4 inches. I also switched to the Nox 15" coil and it caused interference issues so I had to run reduced power... Busted out my old Excal 800 and instantly seemed to do better.. Idea's??? Also not 1 Nickle?
I'm surprised the Nox is known to work well on the beach and in the surf. Unless your beach has some black sand mixed in I'm not sure if I have anything to suggest.

On the Equinox 800 you can only save off 1 extra search profile. You don't have that feature on the Equinox 600. Thanks!

Can you explain FE 2 please? I run all metal mode on beach 2, I have FE 2 set to 7. Can you help me in understanding that feature. I find tons of good things, but I’m ocd lol always want my Nox8 to be better. Thank Jeff

Does multi in beach mode use all khz or just 20 and 40.I read it somewhere but not sure.
It cycles through all the frequencies.

Hey Glen if you are asking if those settings can be downloaded into the Equinox the answer is no. You will have to go in and make those changes yourself but it's pretty simple.

What would you set your f2 at for this beach setup
I would probably turn it off until I was digging up a lot of junk, then I would start to incrementally increase it by 1. But ultimately the less filtering you can do the better.

That is documented in the manual but I think I did a video on Park but basically Park 1 is really better for coins while Park 2 is meant to hit harder on jewelry.
How about the beaches with black sad? Would you adjust any settings for that situation in your opinion?
Good question I really don't know, I've never been on a beach with black sand sorry.
Beach 2 is supposed to compensate for black sand, you can also lower your sensitivity.
Can a equinox 600 find gold?
Yes
Yes, this is not a simple machine. If I want to use a metal protector I want to work quick and fast not have to do a lots of things to it.
