Fun part: My Microsoft keyboard has a fingerprint sensor key for years now and Apple sells it as some kind of innovation. But I think it's a useless invention anyways: It's just for laziness - not for security.
@@DaveChimny exactly. Why would someone want to use fingerprint as authentication when you can leave fingerprints on any surface. This should be looked at as a convenience feature, not a security feature.
I'm not an apple tax fan, but I agree with Linus here: if you are already in the mind set of buying an apple product and paying the tax, this upgrade is a "really good value". You get touch ID, and ethernet connection, the full powered M1, and 2 more ports on your device. 2 of those things you cant buy separately, and the keyboard (touch ID) is 100 dollars + the charger with ethernet jack (I will always prefer wired networking on a device that does not move) will probably be around that price as well (too lazy to google if we know the price). Seems like a good deal in Apple terms to me.
@@Stefvlaere while you're right it's an absolute joke to sell a pc with two freaking ports only, for $1200. A lot of their "innovations" are actually innovations in how to get more $ from you and lock you down. It's insane how they actually convinced people that less ports is better.

Well, the G3 was amazing but after that it was all just 'meh'. I 'upgraded' to the G4 when I could renew my subscription but the G4 never really satisfied and it felt a lot cheaper than the G3 did, it felt like a middle-class phone for the flagship-price. After that I have no real clue on the phones but I think that is the time when they lost their market share to Samsung, Apple and other smaller brands like OnePlus. One of the reasons I went for the G3 for example was the excellent camera and of course the built in IR blaster which worked perfectly, even with ISP-provided settop boxes.
Linus, the reason why they released purple color is because this year it has been 10 years since Steve Jobs passed away, and purple was his favorite color. So this is more of a tribute to the founder rather than something out of the blue. Understandably, not many people are aware of this, so now you know :)

Is “user replaceable” even still relevant these days? My dads 10 year-old Acer laptop is known to be one of the thickest in the world, even at its time. It has two layers of motherboard superimposed upon each other. It is highly user replaceable. But it has only been open once for dust cleaning. If a laptop or a computer in general has future proof hardware I do not think it is feasible to “user replace” it from an ecological or even economical standpoint.

This was actually the main thing I took from this. Tiles even if you replace the battery basically hit a timer that says you can’t use it anymore. Even if the original battery still has power. It’s why I’ve never purchased one. But now I think I’ll grab a few of these lol

Many people take surplus student loan amounts to buy new toys or alcohol with, especially first year when the reality of all those costs hasn't hit them yet. I knew a lot of people that bought a new pc and phone and ate out first year then went to ramen and rice meals second year.

It's incredibly hard to see because they overlaid it with the Apple event marker, but at 5:16 you can pause and read the little tag they added saying just this. I love it when manufacturers that their phone or computer build-in speaker have an atmos quality sound 😅
Well, I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 LTE and when you turn on Atmos is really does sound close to a real surround set in my opinion. It's useless for me because the tablet is a managed device but it makes watching movies on like a camp site pretty awesome.

I bought a couple of bluetooth tags in 2013 which have the same exact functionality as airtags in 2021:
- location-based alerts for stuff you're about to leave behind
- beeper for locating the tag
- button on the tag to locate phone
- crowd-sourced map locating of potentially stolen stuff
- 1 year battery life with a replaceable battery
Those tags, in 2013, cost 20 bucks a pop. The company still makes new versions of the tags and you can buy them anywhere.
The best part? Those tags work with any Android or iOS phone / tablet, which is important because where I live, people don't use iphones.

This argument isn’t relevant anymore. Yes they have and always will be a lifestyle brand with high end products. Now with the M1 chip you can get amazing power at a good cost. Just buy the M1 MacBook Air.

I think one of the most genius features of apples skills in upselling, is that they have been able to convince so many that their products are value oriented, by being able to say that their lowest price m1/m2 product is only $1000 in comparison to competing companies slightly weaker processor and gpu laptop at the same price bracket, but it increases the price to $2000 if you heaven forbid want to have the same RAM and storage capacity as the competing device, making it once again an overpriced device. Absolutely genius marketing on apples part.

As someone who works in an enterprise, these iMacs will be a nightmare when it comes to locking them down.
I'm sure they have Kensington locks somewhere. If they don't I would be really surprised. (Edit: Kensington because I got them confused with an SSD manufacturer)

FYI, Got word from our rep that there is no real wired solution unless you buy a USB-A keyboard and mouse and have a dongle. There is also no kensington lock eyelet, recommendation is to put it through the stand loop

I have a feeling it won't be as effective as Apple wants it to be. Too many TVs irreparably damage signals sent to them when they have some settings on. Adjusting "brightness" (not backlight) will wash out the whole thing no matter what you do.

You should try talking to the audience in your videos. It can be a little nerve wracking at first but you tend to get over it. I found that reviewing some public speaking articles/courses helped me out on my own channel
