Leaks are an EA marketing strategy. They can hold off on releasing the game until at least 2025 since they are still making good profits on The Sims 4. When the sales slow down enough to cause concern with investors then they will move towards giving us the next installment. They probably want to see how Paralives does as well.
I hate their market strategy, it's too calculating. it's all about profit, profit and profit. Where is their passion and fun? It's what is lacking in the game.
I thought I was the only one who was thinking "these leaks are probably from EA". I mean look at how they leaked info for new TS4 packs. This isn't above them lol.
They are also taking public reception as feedback. Free market research

Little but important things I want to see get re-added to the franchise:
1. Doorbells. I cannot hear people knocking on the door, and it makes no sense for them to stand outside for 3 in-game hours.
2. Footsteps. I want to be able to hear the sims walking, and if they're wearing heels, I want to hear the clop-clop of those heels
3. Sitting on the floor to do things
4. Attraction/Chemistry system
5. Microwaves that produce edible food instead of nasty food
with the High School Years pack, your sims with sit on the floor and stuff (i wish you can actually make them do it)
Omg! Yes!!! Doorbells! So many times I’ve had my sim busy upstairs only to finally go downstairs and see their best friend finally walking away from the door. Would be nice to have doorbells back!!
Yes! The game used to be so much more realistic and fun than it got with 4!
Yess bring back the online dating in game !!! Sims 3 had that in one of the packs (generations or seasons i think?) i was like omg.

I HATE how they're trying to make it playable on mobile. There's a reason why mobile games and video games are two different things. They could make a mobile version on its own instead of forcing pc and console players to have a shit game for the 3 people who play on mobile.
Sims is not a mobile game. Only Sims freeplay and I used sims freeplay to get into simming.

As a console player, I do not understand why sims games aren’t open world. We have tons of console games that are large open world games with dlc. I understand not being on the phones but pc and console is no excuse. I hate clicking on the house next door and waiting 5 minutes for it to load. If it’s going to be open neighborhood then at least the entire neighborhood, homes included should load with everything else.
It's because the Sims 4 was going to be an online game, which means they had to limit areas because at the time they still wanted to have it run on older hardware, along with internet speeds from 10 years ago. That all changed and they were too cheap/lazy to change the base game that much, so we got limited size neighbourhoods.
Yeah I’ve never understood that but saying that the game doesn’t run great and I’m on a series x but that’s probably down to the technical side of this game
@Johnathan Sims 3 is open world
Genshin impact is completely open world and also a mobile game, it’s fabulous. But one of its biggest issues is the storage, it takes up alot of space (for obvious reasons) and the devs have to take some features away so mobile players will be able to play (not important features, but on pc, the characters drag in the sand and it’s very realistic. But on mobile, it’s mostly food prints and some sandy effects that are much easier on phones)
They say it's so that all PC players can run it smoothly as the Sims 3 was open world and many people had issues playing all the packs at once. This is less a console issue and more a crappy PC issue
trying to make this crossplayable on phones is gonna kill Sims 5. Sims 4 is already a primitive looking game when not using mods, just imagine how bad sims 5 will be when they downgrade the graphics to work with phones.

@@epic7224 except hoyoverse actually cares about their game and not just profit unlike ea. Compare highest graphics between gi and sims 4, gi surpasses sims 4 by miles, AND gi is open world, multiplatform, AND FREE. What are the chances sims 5 will be better?
there ARE mobile games that are absolutely gorgeous like every game from hoyoverse, dragon raja (the best and my fav imo) even fucking roblox. that is IF developers care about the game. this is the sims devs. self-explanatory.

I REALLY hope every building is usable. Like in s3. If they combine s2, s3, s4...to make S5..that would be great. Take all the best aspects. Usability. Functionality. The Sims themselves personalities, whims, unpredictability.

Not much hope everything looked like a shell even cars. I've pretty much lost hope in any type of CAW or world editing looks like more of the same as Sims 4 overly stylized worlds where the player has no control over anything
I am kind of bummed that they want to make it so it can be played on mobile, it just means it will be even more limited than the sims 4 was. I dont really want to pay so much for a game overtime that is very limited.
Agreed, it being playable on mobile hardware scares me. Hopefully that doesn't mean we get a dumbed down experience and I hope it has local multiplayer like sims 2 so me and my gf can play. Sucks having to take turns playing

This exact problem has been holding back games like Minecraft. Current gen consoles can handle so much more but mobile makes thinks complicated.
I think they could make it that only certain actions could be done on mobile while other actions and things to be done or accessed need a pc or console but idk if that can be implemented but I feel that would be a middle ground because making the game playable on phones will be very limiting so atleast this way it can be limited partially on phones while being more detailed on pc and consoles
The thing is the mobiles are going to get stronger rigs in it so they could run the game with less problem. The problem is the how much space it takes and controls. It could drain your mobile quickly if you play a game with higher quality, also if someone already tried games on mobile know what kind of games are easier to played on mobile and what not. Arpg games (diablo clones mainly) have touchpad integration which could be useful on some level but in exchange it will be limited pace. Sims mobile exists so what I can imagine they focus is the tablet segment which using the similar ios-android versions what the mobiles do. It could not be as fun as play on pc but the cross play is now a popular thing for many games, like what we will get soon in Warframe too. Actually xbox and pc does cross play because they share similar architechture.
My personal bet I will skip the sims 5 on mobile because my mobile is, for call people.

the art looks very blendr/unity custom content, high poly too. i actually like the style, it's like a blend between sims 3 realism, but without the uncanniness.

lower your expectations, the sims 4 proved to us that they do the bare minimum

They kept Sims 4 quiet until it was about to be released because it was so unfinished that they knew people would be outraged and not buy.
Hopefully these leaks keep coming and the developers actually pay attention to what people say. So far all the design looks great. It’s the sims I really care about though. They need depth and personalities!

I would love to have a dating app on the phone/computer so Sims could hook up with compatible Sims. That way, if they’re in the market for a soulmate, they can find one online.

Dating app or not, the attraction system is needed in the game. I preferred something like TS2. I don't mind dating app though.

as someone who works with computers.. it's 100% intentional. alot of game company's actually do this, as like the other person said, it creates engagement and is a massive marketing strategy.
It’s definitely intentional. Look at GTA VI. That leak was definitely a leak and not a disguised leak, they responded with disappointment but did confirm it was real. The Sims needs these leaks and won’t acknowledge their disappointment because they’re the complete opposite.

Agreed but I suppose their playerbase or target audience is also youngsters so they will stick with the cartoony look. I would like a Sims 3 esque more realistic graphical style but we will see what they do with the final steps.
ikr the gaming industry is weird.. FPS shooters and racing games need to have highly realistic graphics yet a life sim is taking the cartoony route.

I feel like they made some BIG mistakes in ts4 from the beginning, but it was already too late to change them, so they want to treat us with a better game this time. I literally just want to cry... I'm so HAPPY it's PARIS!! (There were Paris landscape paintings in that one Living Room layout with the Eiffel Tower and the Sacred Coeur.) Completely a dream come true! And DID YOU SEE the dirty dishes in the sink!?!
Yes! Finally someone mentioned the dishes! I think that was what I was most excited about! Fingers crossed they actually get to wash those dishes!
It's inspired by basing on Paris city, it's not actually Paris. I'm sure it has a different name.
I would like if the plants have more life, more moves and more living than some pixels laying there. Also the food (at least the baugette I hope I wrote right) have actually some better physical form. The interaction with the stuff could be more improved but I think they will degrade a lot of stuff to save power. Possible the cars will getting their inside parts if we will be able to use them and free drive instead drive on a line. The buildings possible will be used with some kind of Paralax so you will see a 3d esque inside on the majority of buildings while the playable area will be seen just like in Sims 3.

I like the open neighborhood idea. That's one of the things that irk me about TS4... if you want to visit your next door neighbor, you have to "travel" there and go through the loading screens back and forth.
Thinking about open neighborhood might be like open “zone”. Live mode might not take place in the entire map like TS3 but not just a small block/lot as in TS4. Somewhere between that (like Pokémon Legends Arceus semi open world)

@@saramystik3284 yeah, not the whole world/city, just have like each group of 3 to 5 lots open... even if that means you have to knock on your neighbors door for a pause to "activate" that household without have to go through a loading screen as if you were traveling further

If the Sims 5 is no open world, nor have drivable cars there would be no reason for me to get it. I really think it should be like Sims 3 but with better graphics and such. Idk I just feel like the Sims 4 was a huge step back from 3, and if 5 doest bring those basic things, like a dang car. I would be disappointed.
The plants look like many I have in TS4, made by CC creators (peacemaker, and awingedllama to be specific). I'm sure these "leaks" are deliberate, to retain the buzz. For me, it's much too late. I can only hope the obvious influence of the excitement surrounding Paralives, makes the sims team/ea not ruin the potential of TS5 by getting money-hungry. Quality gameplay needs to rank higher than aesthetics for me.
Agreed. Modders will always be there to make a game pretty. Gameplay is way more important to me.
Actually graphics and gameplay could be good quality together but need a team talented enough to solve issues and to know what the engine limits is. It depends on what kind of engine they are using for this, because if it is an outsource engine they must pay for it and learn it to know what they can implement or not if it is inhouse they do no have much more complication but they will know what the engine limits is.

In my opinion, development that includes incremental showcases along the way, allow the feedback needed to know if they have that consumer buy-in which makes for a better product that we can feel inclusive to something we anticipate investing in. We are stakeholders too. I’m here for the leaks.💖

What I really like about the furniture and objects is that everything looks so polished! In TS4 everything looks so boxy and clunky, although things have gotten better with many of the recent packs. The objects in the screenshots and videos look way more streamlined and sleek which in my opinion is a really good thing :)
The objects and trees look so much better the cars are about the same quality as Sims 4 they put no effort in that

I always wished they would do a more realistic type of graphics in this game like they did in the sims 3 I might sound like a total granny but I seriously can’t with this cartoony and fortnite looking graphics in the newer games 😬

I’m a little bit surprised that the TS5 base game is inspired by Paris (even if I’m French). Paris is a big city with high density, and no houses anymore, just buildings and apartments. I mean… it’s kinda world we should have in an expansion pack like in TS4 which presents different worlds from different countries inspirations. I think it’s far away from the previous games we all knew, when you start with your little house and backyard in a suburban American city. Skeptical. But excited to discover what this game will be!
I feel like we need something new now, starting in a suburban world has been done way to many time, it’s time for something different.

It might just be Paris inspired. With art and architecture style but not *exectly* like Paris. I don't think they will have the congestion and litter like the real thing. They might start in the city and have an expansion pack that focuses on the suburbs or more village-y neighborhoods. Like the S4 had a city living that moved away from the suburbs, S5 starts in the city and moves out.

My guess is many of the outdoor elements in the first few screenshots are just placeholders or at the very least WIPs, they just have to throw things into the game engine as early as possible to see that they work
the idea of Sims worlds being inspired by different cities around the world would be really nice!! and the point with open neighborhoods really makes much sense and I personally wouldn't be mad about it. if this, later on, would be a whole playable neighborhood without any loading screens, it would be incredibly nice 🤭 (and my guess, about when this releases, is 2025-2027. I would love to see tweens become an addition to the game. The transition from an 8-year-old to a 16-year-old is so drastic, and there is so much opportunity in the preteen years, like developing crushes, independence, and identity. Also, it would be a good way to phase in puberty. It would help us watch our sim grow up a little longer, which would be cool. And different languages/accents would be fun too!

DAAAANG!! the structure models are so SHARP! there doesnt seem to be weirdly-modeled shapes anymore! (what i mean is, for exemple how some round objects werent really round but just had a lot of faces to make it look rounded) and the lighting! Its going to be so fun with this lighting i can tell!!

I don't like this style at all. Looks far to YARDSALE to me. And I really dislike the triangular apartments. Looks too much like an online game. The pots and pans in the sink look good. Walls down and you can see into the next-door apartment?
I think it's too early to say driving won't be a function. The cars are empty now, but there's a ton of things they probably haven't even started yet. I like the idea of driving/biking and I hope they get utensils and bowls and plates and shit out of the cabinets like in Sims 2. I really hope they do away with the whole "magical tornado in my hands and now I have exactly what I need"
It kinda makes me already sad that the world should be limited just because they coop with Mobile devices. I would rather just play on the pc but with an opened world.

I would love to be able to travel to my neighbours house without a loading screen. However, I wouldn't mind a loading screen to go to a different district.

For Sims 5, I really hope they give us control over lot sizes, like in Sims 2. I also hope they change the art style a bit, as I felt like Sims 3 and 4 were way too bubbly and caryoonish.
It's been almost a decade since Sims 4 came out. I'd be disappointed if they don't make substantial changes.

While I'm cautiously optimistic I'm also glad that they're testing it out in a city rather than USA suburbs. I'm tired of it being the default and I think base game should come with different neighbourhoods from different parts of the world. This is a very early look but everything looks great already. I just hope the gameplay won't dissapoint.

is it just me or project rene items and furniture look exactly like the sims 4 ones? they seem so familiar but with a small changes and details here and there. look at these tables, bookshelves and couches. they SCREAM sims 4
I like sims 4 build mode with it's maxis match chunky vibes, but sometimes it feels too cartoon-ish to me. it lacks realism a little bit. like I'm not playing a life simulation game but a giant dollhouse where everything is made of plastic.

My opinion is to make shelves be empty. All clutter items should be separate including individual books and decoration item. I would like to be able to put items on shelves so each shelf would be unique looking. Also we need more clutter items. Like food packages, pots, pans, toothpaste, toothbrush, and every other little household item you can imagine.
This looks pretty but I think the sims 5 will be the most empty sims game so far. Cause running on mobile, they have to make a lot of sacrifices because of that.
I just really hope there’s more to do in ts5. Neighbourhoods in ts4 have always seemed so empty and like there’s nothing to do. I want police stations and to see things happen around town that you can go and report, fire stations, schools and you see the kids come out at the end of the day, town halls, markets, just more going on that makes the worlds feel more alive!
The low poly assets are definitely placeholders, if I were to guess the rendered area is what will be playable & outside of it will just be detailing outside the map. Just all guesses though could be wrong! Can’t wait to see more!

Yes im sure they are placeholders ! Im thinking that for the playtest they didnt give the whole map, so this is only a part of a way bigger map. They way the streets end ,very blunt and then there is that blue. Thats only my theory though.

The dirty dishes in the sink! The clutter makes it look so real and Iived-in. Even if they take their time and give us a 2025 release with a good base game- im okay with that.
I'm just happy the furniture looks normal compared to the stuff we usually see in The Sims 4.
I need the Sims to be a bit weirder and creepier like the first ones, I miss how uncanny it got sometimes. Don't get me wrong I loved the Sims 4 I spent a lot of time on it but it does miss something

I feel like these leaks are planned by EA, specially since they didn't show any sims, and I doubt they're playtesting the game without Sims, so I feel like they were on EA's payroll or else they would just show the Sims, if they are already violating their NDA.
Edit: even Pixelade said that the developers are going to see the feedback on these leaks and adjust accordingly, they're obviously just sending these feelers out to gage everyone's responses
I'm a 3D artist and I can tell they used Unreal Engine so far (specially because of the sky). But maybe they did that just for testing, it doesn't mean the final product will be rendered in the same engine

in my theory from the clips for cars, I believe we will actually be able since we saw the inside of the cars having a bit more detail than sims 4 cars that we usually would see and that it’s early development, you can see parking spaces for bicycles and vehicles even a little bus stop to sit at for whenever the vehicle comes to get ur sim

The plants looks so similar to the sims 4 I’m skeptical. Loos like cc and packs mixed together 🤔 it was to easy and early.
This world looks very European-inspired, both the architecture and the infrastructural details like the sidewalks and bike lanes. This makes me quite excited because it reminds me of my own city. I've never really found a Sims world similar to cities in my country, but this is pretty close!

I was looking at this yesterday I believe and I don't know about it looks like more too toony instead of like a realistic look. It does look good but I don't know I just cannot see myself in the Sims 5 yet. Unless they keep like showing more of the game then I'll think about it. I feel it's probably gonna be like Sims 2 because Sims 1 couldn't do anything and Sims 3 was almost like Sims 2 little bit of Sims 4 but Sims 4 is totally like Sims 1 so probably pretty muvh gonna be like Sims 2 or 3 who knows I maybe wrong just a thought

I just miss being able to play as my sim as I play on a console not on a PC so it’s been since the sims 3 on the wii since I played my character and that was so long ago as someone stole my wii with the sims inside of it, I’d love for them to bring back things from the older games like the storyline option and multiplayer I used to love playing with my sister and would think it would be amazing for the younger gen as most games are online or single player so it’s pretty isolating when you think about it.
