Lionfish in Florida: How Do We Fight The INVASION?

- I am out with Shark Quest again to spear lionfish in the Gulf of Mexico, right outside of the Destin Pass. This time we are shooting lionfish for science. Jessica Valek is a Marine Biologist for the Okaloosa County Coastal Resource Team and his collecting lion fish to check their age through size, check for lesions and scars, and to collect them for DNA testing, all to find out more about our invasive lionfish population. We also have Brady Hale with us from the Ocean Strike Team, he is an absolute killer in the water…he took out over 70 lionfish on one drop! Insane! lol. I might need it! I fill the keeper so full today I had to leave one of the spear as I came up.

@@ActiveDutyOutdoors Houston, TX but willing to travel. I’ve heard they’ve been spotted off the coast here but I couldn’t find any dive groups that go out around here.
