As always, thanks for the inspiring content - these are great ideas! Switching from 3x / week Strongman to a 6x / week hypertrophy block was just what I needed to get motivated again. I loved the change to bodybuilding for the first little bit, started hating it near the end and found myself missing the things I was doing before so I came back with a new appreciation. Also, coaching is hugely motivating. Once I picked up clients I knew I needed to walk the walk myself so there could be no excuses! P.S. the beard gains are epic.
Beard Yes, also recently I've been doing similar with scattering the workouts , by splitting the session up to morning, midday and evening it has definitely helped after a long rut with training recently by being able to feel out if i want to put more effort at the beginning or end of the day and have been able to slip in a few new things to try out.
Bears yes! Been running darkhorse, and I was splitting the training up across 8 days. Recently I decided to do each day with 1 day rest, however long the workout takes and it's been a game changer.
Spot on as always. At 50 my bench is absolutely at a plateau. So, I’ve started concentrating on hip thrusts to stimulate some hip and core power. And everything else is moving up as I get stronger. Can’t thank you enough for all the advice!
Great advice, as always. I am totally going to ignore the big power lifts for the next 6 months and focus on assistance variations instead. It’ll be different, teach me something new and should be fun, which is why I do this stuff in the first place. You are the best Brian!
@@dustythejones That's a phrase that never fully made sense to me. Why should a man's wants and needs always come second to a woman's wants and needs, and whats even worse is that people will call that happiness? A healthy relationship is based around compromise on both sides, not stifling ones self to please another all the time.
Beard YES! It looks good, keep on with it! By the way, I just bought both the EDC and massbuilder programs my friend! I just need to choose which one I’m gonna start first!!!
Excellent tips! I've had to switch things up from the norm after a slight left pec tear and messed up my left middle finger which has made me revert to straps or else my finger inflames up.... (both have gotten much better over the months, but by those things forcing me to take detours I've been able to focus on other movements that I wasn't programming or giving attention before and it has been fun to pick up and progress in other areas!). I love keeping things fresh and exciting, sometimes that means changing the rotation of things or swapping out for alternatives here and there... anything to keep training fresh and interesting! Of course we always love hitting PR's or making progress, but grinding the same movements over and over and over with no variation can get dull.
Keep the beard papa alsruhe. I usually do one of your programs and then alternate between a "normal/static" program. But ive been finding myself getting bored and unmotivated as soon as i switch to a more static program. SOOOO my goal this year is to run your programs the whole year. 25$ dark horse im halfway done rn, then gonna do the custom darkhorse (then vacation) then going to do Custom Mass builder and Custom 4 horsemen to finish off the year, then see how i do ! i always get great results from your programs, and ive gotten spoiled with the giant sets, everything else is so boring to me. Next year, depending how this little experiement goes, i might do that 2018 archive for the whole year O.O but we shall see on that haha
I'd like to hear more of your input on the 4th suggestion. I've made a lot of progress in the past without clean living, but I do recognize the value of it. I've been thinking about a major lifestyle change and your input would be welcome.
Bearded man here. Wife prefers moderate length, not short like I am on vacation, not Grizzly Adams. I rely on her for fashion tips as I am not a reliable judge.
You might be imagining squatting the bar up or falling backwards to start the movement, which would cause the bar to really scrape into your shins. Some solutions are to imagine pushing the floor away to start the movement so that the bar goes up and will only glide against your legs rather than scraping them, or starting with more of a stiff leg position to get your shins and knees out of the way of the bar
When you mentioned drugs, you didn't mean stop doing 5 grams of tren ace a week, right? Like, I wouldn't want to lose my 2 plate bench press. Well, uh, I'm actually asking for a friend.

I started doing weightlifting again and it's made training more fun. However getting comfortable with hook grip hasn't been fun.

How to prevent bleeding shins from deadlifts Brian?
1. Don't worry about bleeding shins.
2. Long socks.
C'mon....long socks .
