This is such a great moment, as it depicts the great creative moments of the past, as we can imagine that John and George have worked together for well over a decade. In fact this must be in the early 1970s so for those of us at my age today at 65 and a half, my remembrance of first seeing them in February of 1964 that night on Ed Sullivan, we didn't know as young 9 year old kids that they had already been playing for at least several years before we saw them in America. In fact when you look at John and George here now, and realize they've known each other since they were late teenagers in Liverpool, so they have a lot of experience composing and performing together. These are two great masters at writing the most popular and timeless music in history, and composing on instruments at the same time. that is something it's always impressed me because I can play a little bit of piano and guitar but I don't think I could sing at the same time I blame the instruments and keep it in a great artful format. yet alone to collaborate with other musicians at the same time, as this takes a tremendous talent and ability. I thought I had seen about every video there is of The Beatles, whether popular performances, or studio work. But it's the first time I've seen this one. It's also interesting to watch them collaborating with their second great producer Phil Spector, who we realize must use a completely different approach than what they were used to with George Martin in a large professional studio in London. I can ramble on here, but I should probably just bring this to a close, because I wanted to say more about watching other great musicians play instruments and sing at the same time, which I have now recorded many, over the years if only close-up still photographs, as I attended concerts starting in the mid-1970s with my college days 35mm camera and a telephoto lens. I was sorry to have never seen John Lennon live but I took relatively great close-ups of George Harrison in the Seattle coliseum in November 1974, backed up by the Ravi Shankar Indian Orchestra, Billy Preston, Tom Scott and the LA Express, and Robben Ford on guitar. This was George's second night after the opening night of the concert tour in Vancouver BC. He had already reported that he was struggling with a virus so his voice was nearly gone. He mentioned it at the beginning of the concert in Seattle and apologized for his voice. But all in all it was enjoyable to watch, with the huge Entourage of other famous musicians backing up George Harrison. Then on June 1976, I photographed Paul McCartney and Wings, [in two separate concerts] in Seattle and San Francisco, driving to each concert; first my little sister and her girlfriend to Seattle to see McCartney and Wings perform to 70,000 people in the King Dome, [the largest indoor concert in history that night, to date.] Then, a few days later, I drove my brother and I to South San Francisco to see The identical concert repeated in the Cow Palace, to a much smaller crowd, of only about 16,000. I was not a big fan of Paul McCartney then, but it was just something, and interesting to do, and to photograph. [All of these photos can be seen on my Facebook Concert Album.]
I m glad, you like these two songs. Both have a common theme; the dream John and Paul share. This song was written in india ( I believe before the departure of Paul, before John gets suicidal) .I don't really know what is this dream, but I m trying to figure out ,for the last 10 years. It's a theme that, both songwriters , use in their songs . All I know ,is that they believe that they had a common destiny and a way to communicate through " telepathy". For instance, in the "let it be" film, we can clearly hear, John saing to Paul; " I had this dream last night, it was very intense...You were in there too...I was touching you...did you see it? " Paul's response was very calm, like they shared dreams every day! Maybe that's why ,they both were such a mess after their divorce...
