Not Lewis. So you're both clever and funny. Except that i've since seen him talking with Jack Conte ( a longterm friend of his ) who calls him Lewis. Damn!
People practice drumming for decades & never gain that level of ability. It's a combination of God given talent, discipline, & real love for what he does. You have to LOVE drumming to play like that.
In case you haven't figured it out since making this video, he wasn't playing more than two notes in a row on the floor tom. It was K-RRKRR-KRR- or something along those lines.
There's a great video of Allan Holdsworth live in Tokyo in 1984 with a 24-year-old Chad Wackerman on drums. The full concert with interviews is there, but there's also a drum solo at about 29:35.
He's the Mike Oldfield of the 2020's. He's got composition chops too, churning out crazy syncopated shit à la Gentle Giant but layered with lush & rhapsodic melodic stuff. He never stops, no wonder why he's so skinny.
Really enjoyed that Emma!!! He (and Genevieve Arcadia) are sooooooooo good. Of course Louis is well studied. His father played jazz piano and his mother played bass! He graduated in jazz studies from USC Thornton School Of Music etc…. (Wikipedia) ….. fun fact: I discovered him over 10 years ago via UA-cam when he was relatively just beginning….I came to find out he used (maybe still does) GarageBand as his DAW! I managed to ‘friend’ him on Facebook back in the early and good ole days. ….on another….um……note!!! YOU are soooooooo cute! (I hope I’m allowed to say that?) Respect!!! to you (as they say in Jamaica ! :) ❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋🍻🍻🍻
Emma, I highly recommend you checkout Jerrod J-Rod Sullivan. The guy is a genius on the kit. Louis Cole is awesome. Thanks for presenting some talent on your channel.
Louis cole is one of my favourites....ever! He's amazing at everything. Also please react to el estepario sibriano (that's probably not how you spell it 🤔). Check out his one handed stuff. Honestly it will blow your lid 🤘😝
Man, it feels like Louis is kinda Drummers drummer, if that makes sense. I feel like I can't properly appreciate the skill being put on display. I know it's impressive, I know it sounds amazing, I know it's so cool to watch, but not knowing the technical skill involved really removes me from understanding how crazy it is. I feel like to other drummers he is even better than he is to us laymen.
It's pronounced "Louis." I hope that helps.
I hope you meant that to be as funny as I found it to be lol
Lu E Cole from his band Noah
With an S
🤣🤣🤣🤣

This seems to be a guy who listened to Aphex Twin but didn't realize that it's done with a sequencer, so he decided to learn it all.
That seems to be how I would crest this sound in a science lab.
Jack DeJohnette you mean....
hes a human drum sequencer fuck yes
I like how you started explaining things and then just immediately gave up with your jaw on the floor
The government knows when you master bass.
Dang, not many people catching this

tbf hes been playing for 3 decades
Watching you go through exactly what I went through seeing this solo the first time makes me feel a BIT less depressed about my drumming :)
Brilliant response and genuine reactions. Trumpet player here but well and truly locked in to drums - it's a groove thing!

He’s left handed but he plays a right handed kit and uses his non-dominant foot for the kick. Makes me want to learn on a left handed kit.
He gets well into the deepest pocket of the groove and it all comes out from there
Great reaction video for a monster musical inspiration. I really feel deeply everything he plays. Great man Louis, thank you.
he's an alien
My favourite part is when the chords, the bass and the cymbal are in unison around 2:47 while the tom just keeps it all saturated.
I just came from a Matt Parker video, you speak a lot like he does.
You mentioned openhanded I actually learned standard but I switch as needed even sometimes in the middle of playing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one 😂
Check out his Clown Core work
He wishes he could be in clown core.
He's one of my main inspirations, love his style, it's just so creative. I hope to one day play a fraction of what he plays ;-;

Louis Cole is an absolute unit. So is II from Sleep Token. Seriously, dude goes unnecessarily hard. X'D
You'll obviously have to also do some JD Beck and Domi.

Jejeje emma please tell him to invite some hahah
This guy sound to me like Zappa 2.0
Good analogy. A little bit out there, but always in the pocket! 🎵

That's a good way to put it and that does make sense. Unfortunately I don't think I can help with understanding it lol
Undubtly.. a god on the set! Just xheck "Cris Turner" too.. lifting OceansAteAlaska to a new level..
Louis Coles drumming is slightly reminiscent of Ed Blackwell
Yep clowncore off the charts
Louis Cole is a freak.
I figured you haven't heard of his other project called Clowncore! Go check it out and pin this comment, you're welcome.
We all KNOWER
I recomend you "Sevish - Gleam" hope you like it
Microtonal
@@svenjansen2134 yeah, I've never heard anything like that
20" bass drum?
In his core he is also a clown
He's also the drummer in clowncore.
You should look in to some of his (eligibly) early work in Clown Core. Beware it's pretty bazzare and some of it is kind gross.
He's left handed, so for him open handed playing a right handed kit as a lefty is easier.
You are just DJ Press Play
This is the feeling when what you see makes you feel like a complete shit.
John Theodore from the Mars volta. Check him out
Lou-is, not Lou-ie.
He must be triggering the synth sequence with the kick drum. No way he is that tight with a pre-recorded track. no way. lol
