It's like he breaks "rules" on purpose. Even for drum mixing, which is one of the areas of mizing where you're most likely to see aggressive, destructive compression and drive, Louis just pushes it to hell
In a masterclass, he told everyone that he put the garageband distortion on the master channel, then was told not to by mastering engineers, then did it anyway
the laptop is actually part of the band, they meme on this in their videos often , i love how silly Louis is.. also I need this drum pack.. instant buy, what a legend ArtofDrumming is for making this.. i need this kinda raw sound for my video game music it mixes with synth music very well
Just goes to show that the magic sauce in LC’s drum sound is… him. You could approximate his sound with almost any kit, and I’ve tried. What I don’t have is his nervous energy, left-handedness, and endurance - he is one of the most athletic drummers I’ve ever seen.
@@Brunototguitar this wasn't meant as an insult, it's just pointing out how impressive the original part is. Pascal is an extremely talented player and I appreciated this video very much. I'm a huge fan of this channel and of Louis Cole. I'm not sure if English is your native language but calling something "bananas" means it's crazy, or doesn't make any sense. I'm saying the original part that Louis Cole plays is crazy difficult. That's not meant to insult Pascal's attempt at all. Also, it might not seem like a huge difference, but the grouping of 3 notes is SIGNIFICANTLY harder to play. I hope in the future you can approach people with a little more optimism.
@@sterlingpratt4901 you said everything right, my man. Those groupings of 3 notes are really hard to play, because the coordination u gotta have have to be on point, to not flam the snare with the bell, it gotta be a unisom. It is difficult because you're doing a triple with the right, and gotta have the independence to do a full motion with the left hand. Also, Louis Cole always changes the bass drum pattern on songs, which makes life even harder.
At first you said he uses cheap entry level drums, but then Saya he usually used a Ludwig black beauty. Only one of the most expensive snares on thr market lol
I’ve never heard of Louis Cole but I gotta admit that his minimalist setup is pretty cool, I’d love to see a video on Nick Mason, Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Matt Halpern, Max Weinberg (Bruce Springsteen), Ginger Baker, John Densmore (The Doors), Patrick Carney (Thd Black Keys), Bill Bruford, Matt Garstka (Animals As Leaders), Aaron Solowonuik (Billy Talent), Tim “Herb” Alexander (Primus) or Brandon Barnes (Rise Against) if you haven’t gotten to any of them yet
@@RBDrums Yeah, his playing on all Periphery's material is awesome. Absolute beast of a player and definitely one of the best modern metal drummers imo

now do clowncore from clowncore. I would love to see pascal recreate the drum sound from clowncores first album. And Brendan Fraser would be such a good song to cover. Thanks for this video as well AOD.
I love every single one of those recreating video's! But the fact you havent done a video about the greatest groove master Steve Jordan yet, is a serious drumable offense ;)
Good work covering Louis Cole! It’s not easy to do. Very specific setup, and fast and dense drumming in a very specific style. I love small setups myself, as I live in a large city and travelling with lots of gear sucks. Good work covering Louis’ own stuff, KNOWer, but you missed one project. Just saying….
I love Louis cole, man. Another drummer you could tackle is Mario Duplantier, of Gojira. He’s the most unique metal drummer today, and his sound engineering is crazy.
@@NelliliebtChemie exactly. duplantier is good but he's nothing special with all the god drummers around these days. also, as long as haake is around, the number one for metal drummer is safely secured with him. always fresh ideas, pushing boundaries and sounds like he powers the machinations of hell and a ton of style. doesn't get any more metal than that.
Luis once said that he would use the microphone from his laptop. Definitely a unique sound from a unique drummer!
you can hear it in his first album the drums sound awful but it works quite well

Haha i love how pascal really gets into the chracter. Even chose to play at the top of the stairs and wear jammies😆
In Fuck It Up Louis is actually striking the bell in groupings of 3, not 2 like Pascal plays. Which is just bananas.
I was trying to blend both Louis‘ and Nate Wood‘s parts. But doing the Louis part for as long as the song is, is admittedly very exhausting 😅
@@pascal_thielen your rendition was stellar, thanks for the video and all your hard work! 😁🔥

I think you nailed that sound ! Also nice to know he approaches recording very minimalistic, easy and budget oriented
We love all of Louis's amazing music but we all know what his best group is. Lol
CLOWNCORE!!

Clown Core is his best group.
@@Steakfingerlouis cole isnt in clowncore bro

Love Louis Cole, Knower, and CLOWNCORE. Great video.
Louis Cole has emphatically rejected the idea that he has anything to do with Clownc0re, stop associating him with that nonsense.
@@gabrielcayer2705 clowncore denier
who let clowncore in the mix, Louis would never clown around!
I don't know what Clownc0re has to do with these other bands, they're not affiliated at all.
The drummer from clowncore has a mask, Louis doesn’t, so he’s not the same guy
i had no clue you guys did a video on LC until now!!
by far one of my favourite modern drummers.
you sir, Pascal, are awesome. And extra awesome for doing this piece on the mighty Louis Cole!
This is everything I could have hoped for and then some
Everything about this video is great! Fantastic job y’all.
I would love to see a video about Nick Mason, I want to recreate his sound myself.
Loved this breakdown, Louis' drum sound is so distinctive and I presume very difficult to recreate. Great work!
You are goated for posting this. Tomorrow we tune 😏😏😏
JD Beck recreation next please!
its pretty much this on a ludwig.
Those cookie monster pants are absolutely fire 🔥
Cool! That is amazing! ❤
thanks for making these packs. i will get the pink floyd and steely dan ones soon too. great sounds. I play drums too , letsgo
I would love you to do the sepultura classical sound of album Roots
Pascal in a vest 🥰🥰😘
awesome video. didn't bank account come out in 2017?
The drum sounds you should tag on in the future should be Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest.
Hey 👋
I really enjoyed this sound recreation, but I thought the march episode would be the sound of Korn!?

hell yes, luv Louis Cole and this vid. Atom Willard, Jimmy Chamberlin or Tim Alexander of Primus would be a great drummers to cover in a vid!
you taped down that crash a little too much, but other than that it's pretty much spot on
Boom! Tolle Arbeit wie immer, meine Herren!
Danke für das Lob!
Louis paved the way for guys like Marc Rebeillet and I fucking love him for it
We need the bass drum fill of Overtime
Ben Thatcher (Royal Blood) next for drum sounds?
fucking legendary for covering louis cole
oh my god these are two of my favourite louis cole songs and you people recreated them perfectly, sincerely thank you art of drumming!
you could do parcels drum sounddd!!!!
THAT was BRILLIANT!
i love louis cole
Thank you for the amazing videos! Would like to see Bill Ward Black Sabbath (Iron man, NIB, etc ).
Great job :)
Not a word on the brickwall limiting employed on louis tracks (kick and snare specialy) ?
you guys should do the drum sound for Cissy Strut by The Meters
Zigaboo Modeliste!
almost perfect recreation
Please do one on Morgan Rose from Sevendust. Or Abe Cunningham of Deftones. Or both idc.
Johnny kelly from type o negative?
All them witches drum sound pls
Excellent
The floor tom sounds like the default musescore 4 floor tom lol
