Lyrics:
no not the end that I fear, its the not sure I am here
babel library I swear, my name isn’t there
I’ll airstrike my food if its cold, new things already tasting old
dropping nukes to clean room my room, see what I am doing?
yeah side by side, your disguise is the real look in my eyes
and my dreams are your trips, holy shit
be here, be lost
go through, a lot
pass on, forgot
yeah life, so hot
just level ground is a climb, freaking out and feeling fine
feeling bliss, feeling dread, reminds me I’m not dead
Your flooding flash is my bath, fucking wet as neptune’s ass
Black holes are used to clean my room, don’t like using brooms
the truest truths will live on, Ill still be here when Im gone
In our dreams, in our trips, holy shit
be here, be lost
go through, a lot
pass on, forgot
yeah life, so hot

Sam Wilkes is pound for pound one of the best bassists on the planet.
What does pound for pound mean in this context?
@@koosp.2270 it means his grooves are heavy
Louis knows that he has one of the best bassists in the world on his side, so he keeps writing the most insane bass lines that make Sam squirm in agony and perform at the highest level 😂
Yeah. He's really really really good. My ears are made whole by his funk.
Not only is he locked in on everything he plays, but watching him work is like an entire show within itself. Pure magic.
This is the best anxiety I’ve ever felt
This comment is yet more proof that sometimes the most profound sentences can come from the most random places.
Isn't good anxiety just excitement? But tbh i get it
@@ur1c3hu33 No I've fully spaghetti'd all over my mom

I literally cannot say anything more accurate.

Fuck yeah dude.
congrats ^^
Love love love this for you ❤💥

I'm glad to be living in the same timeline as Louis Cole
You don't find much orchestral dance music jazz with surreal lyrics these days. Engaging and mind-blowing with just superb musicianship.
if it takes you 6 words (minimum 4) to describe the thing then obviously you won't find much of it.
The "orchestral" part takes resources, but in general there are insane numbers of musicians putting out music in hundreds or thousands of genres, Shirley more than at any other time in human history. Someone recommended "Year of the Newt" by the musician Bobbing to me because I like Max Tundra, and trying to find out more about him I came across the "indietronica" sub-genre on RateYourMusic that lists 12,000 releases by hundreds of artists I'd never heard of. There are more kinds of metal than there are brands of guitar amp. Sturgeon's Law "90% of everything is crap" applies, but that leaves hundreds of thousands of tracks every year that are pretty good.
not sure you'll find much of this in any time period
Amen
@@TehVulpezProbably some of Zappa stuff, and that's pretty much it as far as I know.
I like big brass and I can not lie.
The fusion of orchestra and jazz/funk/pop is inspired. I bet the orchestra enjoyed playing this. Really great orchestra break with some excellent harmonies. This is music for the 21st century. Thank you Louis Cole for your artistry. ❤
Here here!
"Disgraceful. Alright, let's move on".
Normal day at work. Just the conductor shitting on an excellent performance. Let's move on.

As a former symphonic instrumentalist, this had me laughing so hard I started crying.

Look at all the Genevieves!!!!!
Lol true
If I love one Genevieve then I love a hundred Genevieves. It is what it is.
It's like you've taken One Winged Angel and turned it into a Ridge Racer song, it's incredible.
I didn’t want to be the one to say it… but I’m really glad that someone did!! 😅
God damn! You're absolutely correct and I cannot unhear it now
Maybe the real “play station” was Louis’s drum kit all along. 😮
@akiojunichiro thanks for the ridge racer ref, you're totally right, epic
I JUST thought the SAME THING.
Sephiroth: “Good to see you…cloud.”
*begins to rave in clouds dreams*
Sam's neck has got to be made of heavy springs and iron. His head is constantly smashin out his notes. Great work everyone !
A living bobblehead ...
Louis might be the only person alive right now who can put all these styles of music into one song and come out with a result that not only avoids being cringe but is also just a genuine bop.
YES!

Lou Is Cool
This is the most exciting music you can listen nowadays.
Luckily not….
It's not even 7 AM and this just dropped 57 minutes ago. It's been on repeat. Today's gonna slap. Thanks, Louis and the gang.
Hell yah! The crack a dawn crew! 🤙🏼
1:26 the keys and the change in chord progression make me feel something
I accidentally played that masterpiece in 1,5x speed.
It surely had a *buying your presents 24 hours before Christmas* vibe
Jacob is always so chill no matter how ridiculous the piece is 😂😂😂
I want a universe where Louis writes a song called ‘Sam Wilkes is my Spirit Animal,’ imagine the funk!!
It would pair nicely with Thundercat's "I Love Louis Cole"
@@lewiji it certainly would
@@lewiji Imagine a collab album with like twelve musicians who just write love letters to each other. I'd be down with that.
This will be my favorite album when it comes out I guarantee it
absolutely!
Same here.
There’s all this bullshit going on in the world right now and Louis Cole keeps pumping out the dope jams. Makes life a lot better.
I agree!
1:58 this has to be one of coolest sudden style shifts ever made. Also the way it goes back to the "original" style is so smooth.
This track is swifter than my sadness can run.

Sam wilkes on the motherflippin' bass baby!
the man is a monster
Who else but louis would crash on the same cymbal he's riding on- on the same note?
Sam Wilkes is unbelievable!!!
Why cant' anxiety always feel this good?
I like big brass and I can not lie
Nominated for best comment of the day.
Donkey shit
Zappa would like this element. Great!
I was thinking the same thing.
@@richardgrier8968 The complex structures of Cole's songs often remind me of the genius of Frank Zappa.
@@FFkingBassMusic Me too.
I can't get Zappa's massive assholery out of my head when I listen to his music. Yeah, I get it, you are the smartest motherfucker to ever step on a stage but what is the point if all of it is coated in nihilism?
I agree! Great stuff! Definitely in the same world as Zappa, especially some of his later lesser known work.
Nothing in the world makes me nod my head harder than the signature stabby funky synth chords in Louis Cole music
Davis Binney soloing. And the girls bopping like it's a little club somewhere.
Musical perfection the way only Louis can conceive it.
Admit it; you watched this more than once. I know I did. How could you not? Masterpiece!
Holy sh*t! Stravinsky chords on the first beats, dance groove and lyrics, and David Binney -> feeling bliss!
can you pls name a piece as an example

This new album is going to be EPIC!
god this guy just doesn't fucking miss
Hey. Look at me. Don't ever stop being so good. Any of you. I mean it.
Should really know by now but once again, I am completely floored by how locked in Louis Cole and Sam Wilkes are
2:35
1:59 that moment when you think the final boss is finished, but the damn thing instead regenerates and evolves into a giant monster and you have only low life energy left.
Tight drums, funky bassline, fat&loud brass section, angels voices, this is so perfect ❤ thanks 🙏
Thanks for introducing me to the transcendent David Binney. What an absolute joy to hear.
This is in many ways complete music: rhythm, melody, feel, harmonies and improvisation. Perfect!
boutta put my skelly jammies on and airstrike my food
I was stank facing the moment the drums came in.
What an absolute masterpiece. I want to thank you for continually working on and releasing some of the most unique and incredible pieces of music that exists today. It’s always a great day when new Louis Cole drops!
Louis Cole's songs always bring a smile to my face.
Sephiroth: “Good to see you…Cloud..”
*starts to rave*
You guys are fantastic!!! Jamiroquay meets Zappa in Charlie Parker memorial barbecue party
Beautifully observed.
That bassline is just daft. Bravo!
This is the most louis cole louis cole has ever louis coled and I love it
Nice to hear the Stravinsky influence in his arrangements

AAAAAAAAH!!!! YOOO!!!!!!! WOW!! WHAAT?!?!?! HOW?!?!? The SOLO!! AND THE AFTERMATH!!! That was absolute LUNACY!!! Great job.
This is insane and yes Zappa would get it... Music beyond the pandemic.. 🌻🙌
For me, it’s like the best awkward make out, that you never knew you even needed. Wonderful work. Love it. Great concept great lyrics. Great playing. Great to hear David too on this
I love the fact that so many talented musicians all subscribed to bringing Louis' amazingly frenetic and intricate music to life (pun intended 😉) 😍👏🏾🎶❤️🔥
Like the first rocket launch to outer space or the founding of the internet, this song represents the summation of all human progress made up to this point.
I do have to agree. As far as music is concerned this is one of the peaks of humanity.
The standard for tightness has been raised even higher 🔥🔥
i want this to play when i die
Heres some more lyrics for me to religiously live by
Of course you must record Life live. Truly we are living in the best possible timeline, despite anything else that happens this year
I feel the funk in my heart and I don't want it to stop - Is this . . .LIFE
3:05-3:12 is somehow the closest thing to a musical mental painting of a sunset over a recently rained upon city I've ever had jammed into my brain
i know exactly what you mean
the break at 2:37 is so sick
louis really thought he could drop the grooviest song in the universe and thought we wouldn’t notice
This would fit well as a sound track to a more extravagant and modern The Price is Right.
Louis Cole and Knower are fking GODS
This was an amazing song and performance! Kudos to these nasty musicians keeping REAL music alive amongst all the top-40 sewage in 2024.
Im REKT…….☠️☠️☠️
Louis Cole is one of the best drummers I've heard in a long time. He's got the perfect mix of groove and technicality. I love Sam Wilkes on bass too.
That's incredible on so many levels, the drive, the energy, the composition, the lyrics, the speed, the skeletons, the talent, the performance, the solo (wow!).... and totally all round cool !!
How the heck does this only have 111K views????
SAX A MA PHOOOOONNNEEE
This is ridiculously tight.
It's so good that once you've heard one song, they all sound the same.
Damn Sam Wilkes is tight.. always is
I was checking the first 5 seconds in awe wondering: OMG, is he the original Scary Pockets bassist with his disctinctive head-to-the-rhythm move? Yes, indeed! Killer song, killer band!
This song requires a constant head bop
Can you guys take this down so I don't listen to it so much that I get sick of it? I think I'm at like #29 at this point.
Sam always looks like he's telling his bass it's doing a good job. And it is.
Love the way he shoves some "dread" in there, or something like that. Talking Heads are also like that. Makes for extremely funky music.
I've already listened to it 10 times...
the bass drum duo is crazy !!!!
New Music! 🎶 Aww Yeah! 😁✨The King is Back.👑🔥
HEYYYYYY what a full blast song!
I love the way Jacob mann plays such crazy chords while being so chill lol 🖤
How the hell can he sing and play drums so damn well at the same time?
THIS is LIFE.
This resonates with my nervous system in Waze that various little music does, and it’s incredibly valuable to me for that reason. Rhythmic it does something to my neurotransmitters, my mental math that seems to create some alignment that doesn’t exist when I’m not listening to this music. Harmonically, it soothes me, but in a tremendously expensive way. Like I’m flying over the planet experiencing humanity Like life is some big neural network and we’re all connected to everything. And besides that, it just amuses me. There is a joyful sarcasm. A playful irreverence, and yeah, it just makes me feel good in a way that not much else does and I’m a pretty happy person for the most part. But this, this is extraordinarily special. Like really effing special.

Man, I wonder if Louis Cole ever considered scoring a movie. I love the Bernard Hermann soundscape in his orchestral arrangements.
Also, I REALLY hope we get a proper track release of "High Five". I've only heard it in the live performance and would love a studio version. Looking forward to the new album!
I believe he n Genevieve have been hired to help on a soundtrack or two. Seems I read that somewhere….
I came on with the SOLE purpose to see if Louis dropped a new track and it's fucking INFERNO HOT 🔥🙌🔥🙌🔥🙌🔥🙌🔥
Oh FUCK 🔥🚒

@@jnm92 He's definitely a Stravinsky lover, he put a motif that's straight from the beginning of Rite of Spring in his song F It Up. He even puts a little picture of Stravinsky in the corner of the screen when that part plays in the video for it.
